NEWSBREAKERS NBA
Devin Harris, G, New Jersey NetsTuesday 2/9, 5:08 PM CT
Devin Harris (shoulder) will not play on Tuesday night against the Cavaliers, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Our View: In related news, the Nets have no chance on Tuesday night against the Cavs. Harris is day-to-day.
Baron Davis, G, Los Angeles ClippersTuesday 2/9, 5:04 PM CT
With domineering coach Mike Dunleavy out in Los Angeles, point guard Baron Davis will now be able to play a "little freer," and "off (his) instincts," according to Yahoo! Sports.

Our View: Translation, in theory he should no longer average "only" 16 points and 7.9 assists per game. Of course, that is only if Dunleavy, and not Davis' advancing age, was the cause of his struggles. Stay tuned.
Monta Ellis, G, Golden State WarriorsTuesday 2/9, 4:56 PM CT
Monta Ellis has been diagnosed with a left knee sprain, and is questionable for Wednesday against the Clippers, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Our View: He will reportedly be re-evaluated on Wednesday. In daily leagues, be prepared not to have him tomorrow.
Kobe Bryant, G, Los Angeles LakersTuesday 2/9, 4:39 PM CT
Kobe Bryant (ankle) will be a game-time decision against the Jazz on Wednesday, according to beat writer Mike Trudell.

Our View: The man who never misses a game has so far missed two. That might be all that he can bear. Tentatively expect him to be a go tomorrow.
Allen Iverson, G, Philadelphia 76ersTuesday 2/9, 3:20 PM CT
Allen Iverson will miss two more games while tending to his sick daughter, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Kate Fagan.

Our View: Iverson has already missed three games due to the personal matter, and it looks like he won't be back with the 76ers until after the All-Star break. No word yet as to whether or not he'll be available for the All-Star game.
Glen Davis, F, Boston CelticsTuesday 2/9, 3:17 PM CT
The Celtics are in discussion with the Bobcats regarding a potential trade that would send Glen Davis to Charlotte in exchange for D.J. Augustin, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: Such a trade would seem to make some sense. Both are talented young players who could be potential starters down the road, though Davis has had a few off-the-court incidences that have soured his tenure in Boston, while Augustin has had trouble carving out a role for himself in Charlotte. Both could benefit in new uniforms, though it's unlikely either would start this season.
Nicolas Batum, F, Portland Trail BlazersTuesday 2/9, 3:13 PM CT
Nicolas Batum will be moved into Portland's starting lineup, according to the Oregonian.

Our View: He'll start at small forward, bumping Martell Webster down to the two and Jarryd Bayless to the second unit. The move will upgrade the Blazers on defense, though Batum will find it hard to garner much fantasy value, especially with Brandon Roy coming back shortly.
Jarvis Hayes, F, New Jersey NetsTuesday 2/9, 1:34 PM CT
Jarvis Hayes (leg) is expected to play against Cleveland tonight, according to the Bergen Record.

Our View: Hayes has started all four of the Nets' games this month and probably will get his fifth on Tuesday. Owners in deeper leagues couldn't hurt to give Hayes a look.
Chauncey Billups, G, Denver NuggetsTuesday 2/9, 1:31 PM CT
Chauncey Billups, who is recovering from two sprained ankles, is expected to play against Dallas tonight, according to the Denver Post.

Our View: Billups may not possess his usual burst tonight, but he can still be a fine source of assists and three-pointers. It'd probably be best to have him active in your lineup.
Yi Jianlian, F, New Jersey NetsTuesday 2/9, 1:29 PM CT
Yi Jianlian is questionable against the Cavs Tuesday with a sore right shoulder, according to the Bergen Record.

Our View: If Yi can't go, look for Kris Humphries to start in his place and make for a fine fantasy fill-in capable of posting a double-double.
Delonte West, G, Cleveland CavaliersTuesday 2/9, 12:10 PM CT
Despite looking good in practice yesterday, Delonte West (finger) will not play when the Cavs take on New Jersey tonight, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View: With Daniel Gibson playing well, it's looking like Cleveland will play it safe with West and have him rest up through the All-Star break. Look for him to be back after that, though he'll have only a few weeks to start until Mo Williams returns.
Tyson Chandler, C, Charlotte BobcatsTuesday 2/9, 10:36 AM CT
Tyson Chandler (foot) is expected to play tonight, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Our View: The big man has been out since late December with a stress reaction in his left foot, but it looks like he's finally ready to return to action. Still, expect Nazr Mohammed to continue to start, at least for now, while Chandler gets back into playing shape.
Raymond Felton, G, Charlotte BobcatsTuesday 2/9, 10:34 AM CT
Raymond Felton (ankle) expects to play tonight, though coach Larry Brown says he'll be a game-time decision, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Our View: Felton is one of the tougher players of the league, and thus it'd come as a surprise if he wasn't on the court tonight. Check back in before game-time, but it seems relatively safe to keep him active in your lineup.
Darrell Arthur, F, Memphis GrizzliesTuesday 2/9, 10:32 AM CT
Darrell Arthur (pectoral surgery) will make his season debut with the Grizzlies on Tuesday, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Our View: Arthur had a solid rookie year last season where he saw a bit of fantasy relevance, though you can't expect him to make too much of an impact this year, and certainly not initially. Look for him to serve as one of Zach Randolph's backups.
Tyrus Thomas, F, Chicago BullsTuesday 2/9, 10:28 AM CT
Tyrus Thomas' days with the Bulls seem very much numbered, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View: The Bulls will do everything they can to trade him before the Feb. 18 trade deadline, and even if they're unable to find a suitor, you can expect them to let him walk after this season when he's due to become a restricted free agent. Thomas' ability to block shots does cater well to fantasy, and thus he could end up getting a boost in value if he lands on a team where he is not in the coach's doghouse and can get more minutes.
Monta Ellis, G, Golden State WarriorsTuesday 2/9, 9:41 AM CT
Monta Ellis suffered a sprained left knee on Monday night, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Our View: Ellis will undergo an MRI at some point today, after which we'll know more about when he'll be back. Still, you can bet he won't be on the court tomorrow against the Clippers, meaning a return after the All-Star break against the Lakers next Tuesday seems like a best-case scenario.
Coby Karl, G, Golden State WarriorsTuesday 2/9, 9:25 AM CT
The Warriors have opted not to sign Coby Karl to a second 10-day contract, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: George Karl's son had been getting some decent minutes, and even a start, in his brief stint with the Warriors, but it looks like it's back to the D-League for him. He averaged seven points, four rebounds and 3.8 assists over his four games with Golden State.
Paul Pierce, G, Boston CelticsTuesday 2/9, 9:20 AM CT
Paul Pierce (left foot sprain) is expected to suit up and play tomorrow when the Celtics take on the Hornets, according to the Boston Herald.

Our View: Pierce has been dealing with a sore left foot for the past week and was held out of the end of Boston's practice yesterday, but it looks like that move was more precautionary than necessary. It can't hurt to check back in on his status tomorrow, but it looks like Pierce will be active.
Kobe Bryant, G, Los Angeles LakersTuesday 2/9, 9:17 AM CT
Kobe Bryant said that he cannot push off his sprained left ankle, which has limited his ability to run and shoot, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View: Look for him to be a game-time decision yet again when the Lakers face Utah on Wednesday. Check back in tomorrow, as you can bet there will be plenty of coverage on Kobe given his status as one of the league's most talked-about superstars.
Trevor Ariza, F, Houston RocketsTuesday 2/9, 9:11 AM CT
Trevor Ariza (hip) will not be available for the Rockets when they face Miami tonight, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View: Luckily, tonight's contest against the Heat is Houston's only game before the All-Star break, and Ariza is fully expected to be back next Tuesday when the Rockets have on date with the Jazz on Feb. 16. Chase Budinger will start in Ariza's place tonight and makes for a fine temporary fill-in.
