In an effort to get All-Star scorer Jarome Iginla going, the Flames have changed up their lines in preparation for the weekend, according to the Calgary Herald. Iginla will be joined by Craig Conroy and Curtis Glencross on the top line.

Our View:Iginla has only four points in the team's first seven games, and his two goals are particularly concerning. The team hopes their new line, specifically Conroy, will help Iginla break out of his scoring funk. If the Flames are going to be successful this season, they will need Iginla to be his usual self.

The Calgary Herald is reporting that the NHL has denied the Calgary Flames' bid to host a second Winter Classic game this season. It was believed that there would be two games this season, but the NHL denied those rumors.

Our View:It was thought to be a done deal, but apparently the league changed their minds. Not good for the fans in Calgary, but they will get over it soon enough. They still have the whole season to look forward to.

According to the New York Post, the Flames are very close to hiring Brent Sutter to be the new coach in Calgary.

Our View:The job opened up when controversial coach Mike Keenen was given the ax on May 22nd. Sutter claims he has not considered the job, but would likely take it if offered to him. He resigned as the Devils coach on June 9th.

According to Slam! Sports, the Flames and the NHL are in preliminary discussions to hold a second outdoor New Year's Day game in Calgary this season. If the game does take place, it will likely be at McMahon Staduim, home of the CFL's Stampeders, and will also likely be the second game of the day, following the Bruins-Capitals' game in Boston.

Our View:Since there is no NHL All-Star Game next season due to the Olympics, it would makes sense to play an extra Winter Classic game on New Years. Every other game has been a big success, and it would stand to reason that an all-Canada matchup is likely in the works.

Our View:Keenan has seemingly coached every club in the NHL and he'll likely find another in a season or two. The Flames disappointed by most accounts this season, and there future coach will have a wealth of talent to deal with.

Jarome Iginla did all he could, notching a goal and an assist on Saturday against the Blackhawks, but it wasn't enough as the Flames fell 3-2.

Our View:Both his points came in the first period, which is where the Flames did all their scoring. He had 35 goals and 89 points in the regular season and is always a threat, but he's going to have to put this team on his shoulders if they're going to dig out of their 2-0 hole.
