Newsbreakers
January 31, 2010
Updating an earlier item, new speculation says that it is Jean-Sebastien Giguere, and not Jonas Hiller, that is most likely Toronto bound, according to the Montreal Gazette.

Our View:This is obviously a very fluid story. Expect some clarity soon.
January 31, 2010
A Sunday morning rumor speculates that recently extended Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller could be headed to the Maple Leafs, according to Darren Dreger of TSN.

Our View:Dreger says a big Sunday shakeup is looming in Toronto, and that Hiller is apparently somehow a part of it. Expect to hear much, much more on this as the day progresses.
January 30, 2010
Goaltender Jonas Hiller has signed a four-year, $18 million contract extension with the Ducks, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View:Hiller, 28 years old, is 21-15-2 with a 2.75 goals against average and .916 save percentage this season.
January 29, 2010
Jonas Hiller stopped 30-of-31 shots in regulation and overtime and 2-of-3 shootout attempts on Friday as the Ducks edged the Lightning 2-1.

Our View:Hiller is just 2-2 in his last four games, but he has allowed just eight goals over that stretch. If the Ducks had a little more offensive pop he would likely have a much gaudier record than 21-15-2.
January 26, 2010
Jonas Hiller stopped 32-of-34 shots in tonight's 2-1 loss at Atlanta.

Our View:Hiller performed fine, but was forced to take a loss due to poor offensive support from his teammates. On the bright side, Hiller picked up a win in three of his last five starts.
January 19, 2010
Jonas Hiller allowed four goals on Tuesday, but turned aside 41 shots as the Ducks held on to nip the Sabres 5-4.

Our View:Hiller is on a roll and has won seven of his last eight starts. He's allowed eight goals in his last two games, but the Ducks offense bailed him out on both occasions and his record improved to 19-13-2 as a result.
January 17, 2010
Jonas Hiller stopped 33-of-37 shots in tonight's 5-4 win over the Flames at the Honda Center.

Our View:Hiller picked up a win in four of his last five starts, and is 18-13-2 for the season. He has a poor 2.82 goals-against average, but is helped by a strong supporting cast in Anaheim.
January 15, 2010
Jonas Hiller was pulled on Thursday after allowing three goals on just 13 shots in a 4-0 loss to the Kings.

Our View:Hiller was replaced by J.S. Giguere, who stopped 13 of the 14 shots he faced. The unfortunate performance snapped a five game winning streak for the Ducks starting goalie.
January 13, 2010
Jonas Hiller allowed three goals on 30 shots Wednesday, but his offense bailed him out as the Ducks nipped the Bruins 4-3.

Our View:Hiller has been sharp lately, winning five straight games, and the only instance where he allowed more than two goals was Wednesday's effort. He's now 17-12-2 on the season.
January 10, 2010
Jonas Hiller turned aside 42-of-43 shots on Sunday as the Ducks stumped the Blackhawks 3-1.

Our View:Hiller improved to 16-12-2 on the year and the 42 saves tied his season-high mark. He's now won four straight games and has allowed two goals or less in his last five starts. If he's still available in fantasy leagues it's time to snatch him up.
January 7, 2010
Jonas Hiller turned away 20-of-22 shots in tonight's 4-2 win over the Blues at the Honda Center.

Our View:Hiller picked up his 14th win of the season, and allowed two or less goals in each of his last three starts.
January 5, 2010
Jonas Hiller stopped 38 of the 39 shots he faced on Tuesday as the Ducks downed the Red Wings 4-1.

Our View:Hiller has now started nine of the last 12 games for the Ducks and is quickly becoming the number-one guy between the pipes. He has allowed just three goals in the last two games.
January 5, 2010
According to the Orange County Register, Jonas Hiller will get the start between the pipes on Tuesday.

Our View:It appears the Ducks favor him over J.S. Giguere now, as Hiller has started nine of the last 12 games. He is 12-12-2 on the season with a 2.91 GAA and .913 save percentage, and would be a more valuable fantasy commodity if the team around him wasn't crumbling.
