Our View:The rising star snapped a three-game skid without scoring any points, and did so with a vengeance. Backstrom now has three goals and 15 points over 11 games. |

Our View:Backstrom is yet to light the lamp, but racked up eight assists over the first three games of the season. He should continue to roll while centering the top line between wingers Alex Ovechkin and Alexander Semin. |

May 9, 2009 Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and an assist in the Capitals' 4-3 loss to the Penguins on Saturday night. He was plus one in the game, but the Caps lost the series edge 3-2. Our View:Backstrom netted just his third goal of the playoffs tonight, but he's been an unselfish man in the NHL's second season this year. He now has 11 assists in the two series so far. |
