Newsbreakers
January 18, 2010
Tim Thomas started but was pulled in the second period against Ottawa on Monday after stopping just six of the Senators' nine shots.

Our View:Thomas was replaced by Tuukka Rask, and it remains to be seen who will get the nod against Columbus on Thursday.
January 16, 2010
Tim Thomas stopped 31-of-34 shots in today's 4-3 shootout loss at Los Angeles.

Our View:Thomas struggled today after only allowing one goal in his previous start at San Jose. He is now just 13-11-6, despite a 2.39 goals-against average.
January 15, 2010
Tim Thomas allowed just one goal on 42 shots in regulation and overtime, and also stopped all four shootout attempts in the Bruins 2-1 win over the Sharks on Thursday.

Our View:Thomas was exceptional in this one and stumped Joe Pavelski, Ryane Clowe, Dany Heatley and Patrick Marleau in the shootout round. The hard fought win snapped a personal two game losing streak for him.
January 9, 2010
Tim Thomas wasn't too great against the Rangers on Saturday, saving 31 of 34 shots in a 3-1 loss.

Our View:Sure, he didn't get any offensive support, but Thomas still should have fared better. That makes two-straight rough games for the goalie.
January 7, 2010
Tim Thomas only stopped 20-of-24 shots in tonight's 5-2 loss to the Blackhawks at TD Banknorth Garden. Tuukka Rask kicked away 11-of-12 shots in relief.

Our View:It was a very disappointing outing for the star netminder, especially since he allowed two or less goals in each of his previous four starts.
January 5, 2010
Tim Thomas stopped 27-of-28 shots to earn his 12th win of the season Tuesday as the Bruins ripped the Senators 4-1.

Our View:Tomas is having a fine season, but isn't quite as impressive as he was last year when he won the Vezina Trophy. He had won five of his last six games, but will have to rip off a long winning streak if he wants to match his 36 victories from a year ago.
January 1, 2010
Tim Thomas was his usual excellent self in Friday's third annual Winter Classic game, turning away 24-of-25 shots to lead the Bruins to a 2-1 win over the Flyers in overtime at Fenway Park.

Our View:He is now 11-9-5 on the season. He has allowed more than two goals just once in his past five starts.
January 1, 2010
After initial fears that Friday's Winter Classic game between the Bruins and Flyers at Fenway Park would be rained out, only a light dusting of snow is expected, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:So it will most likely be game on for the NHL's best burgeoning new tradition. Were it to be rained out, it would be made up on Saturday.
