Our View:However, the team thinks he might finally be ready to return on Monday night. Before going down this season, Eager had zero points in two games. His value is primarily in penalty minutes. |

Our View:He is out indefinitely. His main conrtibution to the Blackhawks is penalty minutes, and if you play in a league where those count, you would probably be best served by getting them from a defenseman or a forward with a little more offensive prowess (Eager had just 15 points in 75 games a season ago). |

July 6, 2009 The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Blackhawks have agreed to a new contract with restricted free agent Ben Eager. Terms of the deal were have not been disclosed, as a formal announcement is expected later today. Our View:It is believed that Eager was one of the players who did not receive a qualifying offer by the team due to a mix-up, but it didn't really matter since the Hawks got him signed. Eager is a hard-nosed player, but he is not much of a fantasy contributor. |

March 21, 2009 According to Slam Sports, Ben Eager has been suspended for three games by the league due to his hit on Edmonton's Liam Reddox on Friday night. Our View:This suspension shouldn't affect fantasy teams as Eager has very little value. And if he was in your lineup, you likely have bigger fish to fry. |

February 19, 2009 Ben Eager scored a pair of second-period goals Thursday evening to lead the Blackhawks to a 4-0 win over the Panthers at BankAtlantic Center. Our View:Eager is worth little to no fantasy value. Thursday was his second multi-goal game this season and first game tallying more than one point since Dec. 7. Since that game, a 7-1 win over Phoenix, Eager has only eight points. |
