October 27, 2009
Boyd Gordon is expected to return to practice Wednesday, according to the Washington Post. He is dealing with a back ailment.

Our View:Boyd is not much of a scorer, but is good at faceoffs and provides toughness.
October 23, 2009
Boyd Gordon is dealing with a back injury that forced him to miss Thursday's game, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:His return is uncertain. In six games this season, Gordon has tallied just one point playing in Washington's high-powered offensive attack, and is not a fantasy option.
October 21, 2009
The Washington Post reports that Boyd Gordon did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to lingering back issues.

Our View:Gordon hasn't played in a game since October 12th, but he is traveling with the team on Thursday, so he may see some time over the weekend. With just 14 points in 63 games last season, he's not fantasy worthy.
October 17, 2009
Boyd Gordon will be out Saturday with back spasms, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:Gordon is not an offensive center, and by extension, not a fantasy one, either.
October 15, 2009
The Washington Post reports that forward Boyd Gordon left Wednesday's practice when his bad back started acting up.

Our View:Gordon missed Tuesday's practice with the back injury and was apparently pulled early on Wednesday for precautionary reasons. He is expected to be fine for Thursday's game against the Sharks.
July 13, 2009
Boyd Gordon has signed a one-year deal worth $761,000 to remain with the Capitals, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Gordon only contributed five goals and nine assists over 63 games last season, but he finished third on the team with a 56.1 faceoff percentage. He was also a regular on the penalty-killing unit. He holds no fantasy value, but Washington is pleased to retain him.
April 11, 2009
Boyd Gordon is close to being able to return from his broken finger injury, but he will sit out the regular season finale with the hopes of being ready for Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:With Gordon and Donald Brashear nearing a return, the Caps could have their checking line intact for the postseason.
January 10, 2009
Center Boyd Gordon (back) is expected to miss a second straight game on Saturday. He suffered back spasms during warm-ups on Friday night, the Washington Post reports.

Our View:Fantasy owners won't miss Gordon, although he had a decent recent run with six points over eight games.
January 9, 2009
The AP reports that Boyd Gordon was injured while warming up and did not play in Friday's game against the Blue Jackets.

Our View:Gordon holds no fantasy value given his totals of just five goals and 12 points in 38 games, so hopefully this note doesn't leave you scrambling to the waiver-wire to find a healthy body.
