October 17, 2009 Joe Thornton recorded a goal and two assists in the Sharks 4-1 win over the Islanders on Saturday. Our View:Thornton had 61 assists last season and don't be surprised if he tops that total this year. He is the NHL's premier passer and now that he's teamed up with Dany Heatley he should rack up even more helpers. He has 11 already this season. |

Our View:The big question this season in San Jose is how will Thornton mesh with Dany Heatley? Heatley hasn't scored yet in the first two games, but with a playmaker the caliber of Joey T, the two should generate plenty of offense. |

April 26, 2009 Joe Thornton came through for San Jose in a big way during their 3-2 overtime win in Game 5 on Saturday. The center was involved in each goal as he scored the first on a power play and assisted on the other two. Our View:After a poor performance in Game 4 and a relatively unproductive series in general, Thornton was at his best when the Sharks needed him most. He will have to continue to drive the team's first line as it needs two more wins to keep its season alive. |
