Shaun Ellis, DE Friday 11/20, 10:43 PM CT
Shaun Ellis fully practiced Friday, according to the Jets' official website.

Our View: Ellis is nursing a knee ailment, but is expected to play Sunday at New England. He only has 2.5 sacks over eight games so far, after notching eight in 2008.
Jim Leonhard, S Friday 11/20, 10:36 PM CT
Jim Leonhard was limited in Friday's practice, according to the Jets' official website. He underwent surgery on his broken thumb Monday.

Our View: Leonhard is questionable for Sunday's game at New England. Eric Smith would be the top candidate to replace him at strong safety if needed.
Vernon Gholston, LB Friday 11/20, 6:51 PM CT
Vernon Gholston did not practice Friday, and he has been ruled out for Sunday's game at New England, according to the Jets' official website.

Our View: Gholston will be missing his second straight game with a hamstring injury - but shouldn't be missed in IDP leagues, as he has no sacks over eight games.
Mark Sanchez, QB Thursday 11/19, 8:51 AM CT
Mark Sanchez admitted on Wednesday that he hopes his "bizarre, unfiltered and unscripted" postgame speech on Sunday was a "one-time mistake," according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View: Sanchez is a quick learner, and it's hard to envision him having another postgame like Sunday. No more hot dogs on the sidelines, either.
Braylon Edwards, WR Tuesday 11/17, 6:13 PM CT
Braylon Edwards has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge after he was accused of punching a man outside a nightclub in October, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The man who was assaulted is a friend of LeBron James, and the NBA star noted that Edwards' actions were "childish." Edwards waived his right to a quick trial and was slated for a December 12 court hearing.
Jim Leonhard, S Monday 11/16, 4:12 PM CT
Jim Leonhard will undergo surgery on his fractured thumb, according to Newsday.

Our View: It is uncertain how long the strong safety will be on the shelf while recovering. The Jets have a tough divisional game at New England this weekend.
Kenwin Cummings, LB Monday 11/16, 2:26 PM CT
Kenwin Cummings has been signed to the Jets' 53-man roster.

Our View: He was on the team's practice squad. He'll serve as linebacking depth, and will likely see some time on special teams.
Ahmad Carroll, CB Monday 11/16, 9:58 AM CT
Ahmad Carroll has been released by the New York Jets, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View: The 2004 first round draft pick (of Green Bay) had appeared in just six of nine games this season, and was used almost exclusively on special teams. No corresponding roster move has yet been announced.
Jerricho Cotchery, WR Sunday 11/15, 3:01 PM CT
Jerricho Cotchery reeled in six passes for 68 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 loss to the Jaguars.

Our View: Cotchery has gone for 70 and 68 yards in the two games since coming back from a hamstring injury. He has scored just twice this season, but he has been a yardage hog in his six healthy contests. Cotchery seems to have a good thing going with Mark Sanchez.
Thomas Jones, RB Sunday 11/15, 2:57 PM CT
Thomas Jones rushed 21 times for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 loss to the Jaguars.

Our View: Jones keeps producing for fantasy owners. He has run the ball at least 21 times in four straight games, and the only worry right now is that the heavy workload may catch up with the 31-year-old back.
Jim Leonhard, S Sunday 11/15, 12:31 PM CT
Safety Jim Leonhard left the Week 10 game against the Jaguars in the first quarter due to a thumb injury. Eric Smith took his place.

Our View: This won't help the Jets as they try to slow down Maurice Jones-Drew.
Erik Ainge, QB Sunday 11/15, 10:58 AM CT
Week 10 inactives: QB Erik Ainge (3rd), QB Kevin O'Connell, CB Justin Miller, DB Ahmad Carroll, LB Vernon Gholston, LB Ryan Fowler, WR Danny Woodhead, G Matt Slauson.

Our View: Gholston was the only players on the Jets injury list who was questionable or worse, so they are in relatively sound shape for this matchup with the Jaguars.
Shaun Ellis, DE Friday 11/13, 4:54 PM CT
Shaun Ellis is expected to play in Sunday's home game against the Jaguars, according to NFL.com. He has been dealing with a knee ailment.

Our View: Ellis racked up two sacks against Miami in Week 8, and had extra time to recover with the bye in Week 9. He will be counted on to apply pressure on opposing quarterback David Garrard.
Donald Strickland, CB Friday 11/13, 4:50 PM CT
Donald Strickland is expected to play in Sunday's home game against Jacksonville, according to NFL.com.

Our View: Strickland is a solid nickelback when healthy. The Jets' secondary has been performing well this season, as the club is currently ranked second in pass defense.
Lito Sheppard, CB Friday 11/13, 4:42 PM CT
Lito Sheppard is expected to play Sunday against the Jaguars, according to NFL.com. He has been recovering from a quadriceps injury.

Our View: The star cornerback will be returning to the gridiron following a two-game absence. Sheppard is expected to be worked back into the mix slowly, and Dwight Lowery is expected to start.
Vernon Gholston, LB Friday 11/13, 4:37 PM CT
Vernon Gholston is doubtful for Sunday's game against Jacksonville due to his strained hamstring, according to NFL.com.

Our View: Gholston has not practiced during the week. Fantasy owners should manage fine if Gholston is unable to go, as the rush linebacker is yet to notch his first sack of 2009.
Bart Scott, LB Friday 11/13, 9:03 AM CT
Bart Scott has called himself the third best trash talker in the league, placing himself behind only Chad Ochocinco and Joey Porter, according to the Florida Times-Union.

Our View: While it's debatable that saying you intend to injure a quarterback is "trash talk," Scott does have a point. Thankfully, he can also actually play the game, as his 52 tackles are second on a solid Jets defense.
Brad Smith, WR Thursday 11/12, 1:03 PM CT
According to the New York Daily News, Jets wide receiver Brad Smith is being considered "a long-shot" to play in Week 10.

Our View: Smith was limited in Thursday's practice due to a quad injury and even with the Jets coming off a bye week, he's not healthy enough to play. David Clowney will take over the No. 3 wide receiving duties and the Jets will have to find someone else to fill in for Smith to run their version of the Wildcat.
Vernon Gholston, LB Wednesday 11/11, 11:44 PM CT
Vernon Gholston did not practice Wednesday after tweaking his left hamstring during Monday's walk-through, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View: Gholston noted that he will have to wait and see regarding his availability for Sunday's game against Jacksonville. He is yet to record his first sack of 2009, despite playing in one of the most aggressive defenses in the NFL.
Kris Jenkins, DT Wednesday 11/11, 7:53 PM CT
Kris Jenkins underwent surgery today to repair a torn ACL in his left knee, according to the Star-Ledger.

Our View: The 30-year-old vet is expected to be recovered in time to participate in the offseason training program in March. Jenkins suffered a clean tear, with no further damage.
Donald Strickland, CB Wednesday 11/11, 5:01 PM CT
Donald Strickland (ankle) fully practiced Wednesday, according to the Jets' official website.

Our View: Strickland played in Week 8 and had extra time to rest with the bye in Week 9. He should be good to go for Sunday's battle with Jacksonville. He is a good nickelback when healthy.
Shaun Ellis, DE Wednesday 11/11, 4:57 PM CT
Shaun Ellis was limited in today's practice, according to the Jets' official website. He is nursing a knee injury.

Our View: Ellis managed to notch five tackles (four solo) and two sacks in Week 8 against Miami, and had extra time to heal with the bye in Week 9. He should play Sunday against Jacksonville if he can practice through the rest of the week.
Lito Sheppard, CB Wednesday 11/11, 4:53 PM CT
Lito Sheppard fully practiced Wednesday, according to the Jets' official website. He has been recovering from a quadriceps injury.

Our View: Sheppard missed the last two games, but expects to return to the gridiron Sunday against the Jaguars. He is a rock-solid cornerback when healthy.
Bart Scott, LB Tuesday 11/10, 10:56 AM CT
Bart Scott has revealed that the knee injury he's been dealing with is a sprained MCL, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View: That injury likely prevented him from achieving his stated goal of injuring Miami quarterback Chad Henne in Week 8. He rested all during the team's Week 9 bye, and will play this Sunday against the Jaguars.
Brad Smith, WR Monday 11/9, 5:18 PM CT
Jets' wide receiver Brad Smith is hoping to return to action this week, according to Newsday. Smith has been out since Week 5 with a quad injury.

Our View: There was some belief that Smith would be ready to return before the bye, but the team kept him out in a precautionary move. He got treatment at the team facility during the bye, and it looks like he should be good to go this week.
Lito Sheppard, CB Monday 11/9, 5:09 PM CT
Newsday is reporting that Jets' cornerback Lito Sheppard will return to action this week. Sheppard has missed five of eight games this season due to a quad injury.

Our View: This should be a nice boost for the Jets' defense, as Sheppard is a very good corner when healthy. The team has been struggling as of late, so hopefully they will be refreshed coming off their bye week. The addition of Sheppard will certainly help.
Ben Hartsock, TE Thursday 11/5, 12:03 PM CT
The New York Post is reporting that Jets' backup tight end Ben Hartsock could be benched by coach Rex Ryan. Ryan is angry that Hartsock has committed three debilitating penalties that cost his team dearly in recent games.

Our View: With Dustin Keller the team's starter, Hartsock has no fantasy value anyway, but if he did it would be gone after this announcement. He is lucky he still has a job, but don't expect him to move off the bench much going forward.
Braylon Edwards, WR Sunday 11/1, 4:37 PM CT
Braylon Edwards hauled in four passes for 74 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-25 loss to Miami at the Meadowlands.

Our View: The Dolphins started two rookies at cornerback, and Edwards cashed in with a solid performance for fantasy owners. He bounced back after only catching one pass for 14 yards last week at Oakland.
Thomas Jones, RB Sunday 11/1, 4:33 PM CT
Thomas Jones was a standout for the Jets in today's 30-25 loss to the Dolphins in the Meadowlands, as he racked up 102 rushing yards on 27 carries. He also caught one pass for 28 receiving yards.

Our View: Jones failed to reach the endzone, but fantasy owners cannot complain about 130 total yards against a good team. Jones averages 144 rushing yards over his last three games.
Mark Sanchez, QB Sunday 11/1, 4:28 PM CT
Mark Sanchez was productive in Sunday's 30-25 loss to the Dolphins in the Meadowlands, as he completed 20-of-35 passes for 265 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed four times for six yards and a rushing touchdown.

Our View: Sanchez could not lead the Jets to a win at home, but managed to satisfy fantasy owners with a good performance. Sanchez threw two touchdown passes in a game for the first time since Week 3 (versus Tennessee).
Lito Sheppard, CB Sunday 11/1, 10:48 AM CT
Jets inactives: Erik Ainge (3rd QB), QB Kevin O'Connell, WR Brad Smith, CB Lito Sheppard, DB Ahmad Carroll, CB Marquice Cole, G Matt Slauson, LB Marques Murrell.

Our View: Chad Henne and the Dolphins' aerial attack could benefit with cornerback Sheppard out. Brad Smith provides quality depth at receiver when healthy, but won't be missed in fantasy leagues while out today. Jerricho Cotchery is active and will start.
Braylon Edwards, WR Sunday 11/1, 10:18 AM CT
John Czarnecki of FOX Sports expects the Jets to throw deep to Braylon Edwards today to exploit the Dolphins' rookie cornerbacks (Vontae Davis and Sean Smith).

Our View: Rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez has been inconsistent, but Edwards looks to be a good play for fantasy owners today.
Shaun Ellis, DE Sunday 11/1, 9:34 AM CT
Shaun Ellis is expected to play in today's home game against the Dolphins, according to NFL.com. He has been nursing an ankle ailment.

Our View: The Jets are one of the most aggressive defenses in the NFL, but Ellis only has a half sack so far this season, meaning he isn't a viable option in IDP leagues.
Bart Scott, LB Sunday 11/1, 9:31 AM CT
Bart Scott is expected to play in today's game against Miami, according to NFL.com. He has been dealing with a knee ailment.

Our View: Scott should be OK to consider for IDP lineups, and could have a good day for fantasy owners against a solid running team.
Jerricho Cotchery, WR Sunday 11/1, 9:27 AM CT
Jerricho Cotchery is expected to play today against Miami, according to NFL.com.

Our View: Cotchery is nursing a hamstring injury, and could be limited today - so use caution when considering him for fantasy duty.
