November 7, 2009 According to the team's official website, the Miami Dolphins have signed linebacker J.D. Folsom off the practice squad to the active roster. The team released linebacker William Kershaw to make room on the roster. Our View:Folsom is a rookie who was a seventh-round pick by the team this season, and he doesn't figure to be a factor on the defense this week. The team needed some depth at the position with Channing Crowder out, but Folsom will likely be relegated to special teams duty against the Pats on Sunday. |

September 5, 2009 J.D. Folsom has been cut by the Dolphins, according to ProFootballTalk.com. The team also released defensive end Ryan Baker, cornerback Will Billingsley, tackle Nate Garner, offensive lineman Mark Lewis and receiver James Robinson. Our View:Folsom was a seventh-round pick out of Weber State in April, and did not have good odds of making the Dolphins. Garner was competing for a backup spot at left tackle, while the rest did not have a shot of making the team. |

July 2, 2009 According to Scout.com, the Dolphins have signed line backer and seventh-round draft selection J.D. Folsom to a four-year contract. Our View:The deal is worth $1.812 million and Folsom will receive a signing bonus of $62,000. He should challenge for a spot on the team during training camp. |
