The Saints have signed Chase Daniel from their practice squad to their 53-man roster to serve as the No. 3 quarterback for Week 3, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Our View:Receiver Lance Moore typically serves as the emergency third quarterback behind Drew Brees and Mark Brunell, but since he's out with a hamstring injury, the Saints decided to play it safe and activate Daniel. They waived center Nick Leckey to clear the roster space.

ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that the Saints may have committed tampering in their signing of former Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel. Daniel was required to clear through waivers before teams were allowed to contact him regarding a contract, but NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported that Daniel was signing with the Saints nearly 30 minutes before the notice was released by the league.

Our View:This is the trouble teams run into with the new Twitter craze, because news is instant and is also time logged. It seems pretty unlikely there will be any repercussions here, but these things do happen in the NFL.

Pro Football Talk reports that despite Colt Brennan being placed on injured reserve on Saturday, the Redskins intend on cutting Chase Daniel.

Our View:The team apparently does not even plan to keep him for their practice squad. Quite odd considering that almost every preseason report out of 'Skins camp had Daniel playing both extremely well and better than Brennan. He will surely find a home on someone else's practice squad, though.

According to ESPN.com, Chase Daniel looks to be the favorite to win the third-string quarterback job for the Redskins over Colt Brennan. According to the report, the job is Daniel's to lose, but Brennan will get one more chance to play his way onto the team in the final preseason game.

Our View:Daniel has outplayed Brennan fairly significantly in the preseason thus far, but you have to think that Brennan still has a chance since he was with the team last season. Both guys look to be worthy of an NFL roster spot, so whoever loses out could have a decent chance at catching on with someone else.

Chase Daniel believes he has a "fair shot" at earning the Redskins third string quarterback job, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Our View:He'll be fighting with fellow college star Colt Brennan and journeyman Todd Collins. Daniel supposedly "raised eyerbrows" during 'Skins OTAs, and Brennan has impressed as well. But Washington could still want a proven veteran on the roster behind Jason Campbell, so it is way too hard to prognosticate at this point. It will definitely be the most interesting backup QB race to watch during training camp this year.

Chase Daniel "raised eyebrows" during some of the final Redskins OTAs and has a shot at earning the Redskings number three quarterback position, according to The Washington Post.

Our View:Daniel is currently fourth in line behind Jason Campbell, Colt Brennan and Todd Collins, but was apparently impressive and could convince the 'Skins to release Collins if he plays well in training camp.

According to the Kansas City Star, the Redskins have agreed to terms with Mizzou quarterback Chase Daniel.

Our View:Chase has a fantastic career at Mizzou and was mentioned often in Heisman talk during his Junior and Senior seasons, but lacks the size and arm strength that NFL teams are looking for. He'll likely be a practice squad guy.
