July 22, 2009 According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Brandon Coutu will compete with incumbent Olindo Mare to be the Seahwaks' kicker this season. Our View:Coutu has been training with former kicker Morton Andersen in the offseason, but is clearly the underdog to win the job. Mare would need to fall apart in preseason and Coutu will have to be darn near perfect. He'll likely wind up at the backup. |

January 24, 2009 Seattle will bring back both kickers they had on their roster this season - Olindo Mare and Brandon Coutu, reports the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Our View:The plan is to do that, at least for training camp. Coutu was a rookie last season, but the Seahawks thought so much of him, they simply kept him on their roster, despite the fact Mare was so good. Nevertheless, there are only so many roster spots on NFL teams, and using one on a player who never saw the field once would be tough to do again this season. |
