Newsbreakers
November 13, 2009
Gerald Alexander (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game at the Jets, according to the Jaguars' official website. He was limited in practice for the third straight day Friday.

Our View:Alexander is the starting strong safety, and will be needed while the Jaguars contend with a strong Jets' ground attack anchored by Thomas Jones.

Gerald Alexander was limited during today's practice, according to the Jets' official website. He is nursing a shoulder ailment.

Our View:Alexander chipped in six solo tackles in Week 9 against Kansas City, and should have good odds of playing Sunday against the Jets if he can practice through the rest of the week.

Gerald Alexander has supplanted Sean Considine as the starting strong safety in Jacksonville, according to ESPN.

Our View:Alexander performed very well in last week's win over the Titans, which led to his promotion. Considine was unable to play due to a groin injury. Alexander is worth a look in larger IDP leagues.

Gerald Alexander suffered an undisclosed injury in tonight's preseason game at Philadelphia, according to Michael C. Wright's (Florida Times-Union) twitter page.

Our View:The Jaguars are yet to update Alexander's status. He cannot afford to miss any action while competing with Sean Considine for the starting gig at strong safety.

Gerald Alexander is expected to compete for the starting job at strong safety in training camp with the Jaguars, according to their official team website.

Our View:Alexander will battle Sean Considine, and Alexander is considered the underdog to start. If Alexander does manage to beat out Considine, he will be worth consideration as a flier for IDP leagues. Alexander racked up a career-high 81 tackles in 2007 as a rookie with the Lions.

Gerald Alexander has been traded from the Lions to the Jaguars in exchange for receiver Dennis Northcutt, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Our View:Alexander will not hold much fantasy value as a backup strong safety behind projected starter Sean Considine.

Gerald Alexander is battling Daniel Bullocks for a starting gig at safety in Detroit, according to MLive.com.

Our View:Rookie Louis Delmas is projected to hold one starting spot at safety, with the two vets fighting for the other. The Lions' defense should be better with Jim Schwartz as the new head coach, and the winner of the job could be worth a look as a flier for deeper IDP leagues.

Safety Gerald Alexander practiced in the Lions first mandatory minicamp on Friday, MLive.com confirms. He fractured a vertabra in his neck last October. "He's done a good job of rehabbing and they (the medical staff) felt confident about it. He was itching to get out there," head coach Jim Schwartz notes.

Our View:Alexander started all 16 games in his rookie season (2007), but he lost his job last year. The new coaching staff may give him a shot to earn his spot back, provided he is healthy. At this point, we're expecting him to be no more than a backup safety.
April 8, 2009
Gerald Alexander is regaining strength after a fractured vertabra ended his 2008 campaign in November, according to the Detroit Free Press. He said, "Every day gets better. When we get to the point where we start doing the minicamps and the training camps and stuff, we will see where I am from there."

Our View:Alexander was a starting free safety prior to suffering the injury, but was merely adequate as a pro. The team may target an upgrade at the position in the upcoming draft.
