Broncos kicker Matt Prater is perfect from 50+ yards and says he wants to beat the record for the longest field goal of 63 yards, according to the AP.

Our View:Prater has only missed one field goal in 13 attempts and has been perfect on extra points.

One of the bigger question marks of this season may be the state of the kicking game in Denver, but projected starter Matt Prater is giving fans something to talk about as training camp moves on, according to The Sporting News. Prater needs to get work done in games, touting just one field-goal attempt in real NFL action thus far. However, in camp he has been amazing, making all 10 of his field-goal attempts on Saturday including a 68-yard pooch that reporters suggest would have been good from another five-yards out. During the team's final two-minute drill to end practice, he put another long one between the uprights, hitting from 54 yards with three seconds left on the clock. That brings Prater to 31-of-34 through camp thus far.

Our View:Fantasy owners should take note. More often than not, it would seem wise to wager on proven reliability, but these reports suggest Prater is likely to get his fair share of long-range opportunities. If you play in a league rewarding those bombs, you might want to consider using a bit of risk to add the mile high kicker.

Matt Prater missed the final few days of the final offseason camp with a sore groin. Other than that, his offseason has been pretty good. Prater made every kick in live drills during practices, and if he can continue that in training camp he will have no problem locking up the job as Jason Elam's replacement, according to USA Today. "I've been really consistent so far, which I have to prove to everyone," Prater said.

Our View:So far, so good for Prater, who has only attempted four field goals during his two-year professional career.

Matt Prater is projected to be the Broncos' placekicker in 2008, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:The team did not sign Mike Vanderjagt after bringing him in for a visit, who is the NFL's all-time leader in field goal accuracy. Prater only hit 1-of-4 career field goal attempts, with a long of 45. While his range could benefit from kicking in Denver, his accuracy won't be helped.

The Denver Broncos lost out to Seattle in the Olindo Mare sweepstakes, and could now turn their attention to either John Carney or Mike Vanderjagt, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Matt Prater is currently the only kicker on the Denver roster. He is a young player with a strong leg but little NFL experience kicking field goals.
