November 20, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez (knee) is not expected to return until Week 13 at the earliest, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View:In other words, too late to help your football team. If you had been stashing him in some far-flung hope he would be able to save your receiving corps in the final month of the season, now is the time to drop him.
November 13, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez (knee) is out yet again in Week 10, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:It's looking increasingly likely that he will not suit up for the rest of the 2009 season. He is not worth stashing.
November 11, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez did not practice Wednesday, according to NFL.com.

Our View:Gonzalez has not played since injuring his knee in Week 1, and is not expected to return to the gridiron Sunday night against New England.
November 6, 2009
Updating an earlier item, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Anthony Gonzalez will officially be out another 2-to-3 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery on Thursday.

Our View:If you've stashed him for this long and don't have a pressing need, he could be worth holding onto, but it's beginning to look like a lost 2009 season for Gonzalez.
November 6, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez "underwent arthroscopic right knee surgery (Thursday) to clean out loose particles," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View:Not that you were really expecting him to finally return this weekend, but now you really shouldn't be. If he returns at all this season, don't expect it to be until late November, early December at the earliest.
November 5, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez missed Thursday's practice while still recovering from his knee injury, according to the Colts' official website.

Our View:Gonzalez was expected to break out in his third pro season, but has been unable to play since going down in Week 1. It remains uncertain if and when he will return this season.
November 4, 2009
The Indianapolis Star reports that Anthony Gonzalez is seeking a second opinion on his lingering knee injury.

Our View:Don't expect Gonzalez to see action any time soon, and even some time in November may be a stretch. Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon should continue to get a good amount of targets from the best quarterback in the game as a result.
November 4, 2009
FOXsports.com reports that Colts wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez will return sometime this month.

Our View:That's not saying much, seeing as how we're just four days into November. Gonzalez hasn't practiced this week and it looks extremely unlikely that he will see action in Week 9. Austin Collie will continue to benefit from his absence.
November 3, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez (knee) doesn't sound likely to return to practice this week, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View:When asked on Monday if Gonzalez would practice this week, Colts head coach Jim Caldwell said it was up to the team doctors and how he felt. Even with an important divisional game against the Texans this weekend, there's no need for the Colts to hurry Gonzalez back while they have a two and a half game cushion in the AFC South.
November 1, 2009
Colts inactives: PK Adam Vinatieri, WR Anthony Gonzalez, QB Curtis Painter, RB Donald Brown, C Jamey Richard, CB Marlin Jackson, CB T.J. Rushing, OL Tony Ugoh.

Our View:Matt Stover will remain the Colts' placekicker with Vinatieri out. Gonzalez (knee) is not ready to return, so Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie will continue to fill the void at receiver. Reggie Wayne (groin) is active and will start. Chad Simpson will serve as Joseph Addai's primary backup with rookie Brown out. Jackson will remain out at cornerback, but their secondary has been holding up fine in his absence.
October 30, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez (knee) has been officially ruled out for this Sunday, according to Adam Caplan of Scout.com.

Our View:ESPN's Adam Schefter speculated earlier in the day that he still might not be all that close to returning. So if you were hoping he would provide a nice midseason boost to your squad, don't count on it.
October 30, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez isn't likely to return from his knee injury on Sunday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Our View:Gonzalez is supposedly continuing to get closer, but until you see him put in close to a full week of practice, don't count on him playing.
October 29, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, according to the ESPN AFC South blog on twitter.

Our View:It does not look like Gonzalez will be returning from his knee injury this week against San Francisco. Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon will be counted on to perform well, especially with stud Reggie Wayne dealing with a groin ailment.
October 28, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez missed Wednesday's practice, according to the Colts' official website.

Our View:Gonzalez is yet to return after injuring his knee in Week 1. His odds of playing against the 49ers this weekend do not look good as of now. Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie have been performing well in his absence.
October 22, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez mised practice for the second straight day Thursday, according to the Colts' official website.

Our View:It remains uncertain when Gonzalez may be ready to return to the gridiron after injuring his knee in Week 1. Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie have been doing a good job in his absence.
October 21, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez missed Wednesday's practice while still dealing with his knee injury, according to the Colts' official website.

Our View:Gonzalez has been on the shelf since going down in Week 1 against Jacksonville. As of now, he does not look to have good odds of returning to the gridiron on Sunday at St. Louis.
October 20, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez (knee) is not likely to play in Week 7, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View:Gonzalez has yet to play this season. Peyton Manning is already on pace to break the single season yardage record, so the team does not need to rush him. Stay tuned.
October 14, 2009
Head coach Jim Caldwell noted that there remains no timetable as to when Anthony Gonzalez (sprained PCL) may be fit to return to the gridiron, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Gonzalez has made favorable progress in his recovery, but it is uncertain if he will be able to return in Week 7 after the Colts' bye. Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie have been performing well in his absence.
October 7, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez (knee) is not expected to play in Week 5, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View:The most likely scenario seems to be Gonzalez sitting out this weekend, resting up during the Colts' Week 6 bye, then returning for the team's Week 7 "showdown" with the Rams.
September 30, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez missed Wednesday's practice, according to the Seattle Times. He is recovering from a knee injury sustained in the season opener against Jacksonville.

Our View:It is uncertain when the young receiver may return to the gridiron. Pierre Garcon is filling in as stud Reggie Wayne's wingman in his absence.
September 21, 2009
Colts Week 2 inactives: WR Anthony Gonzalez, SS Bob Sanders, QB Curtis Painter, C Jamey Richard, SS Jamie Silva, CB Jerraud Powers, DL Keyunta Dawson, TE Tom Santi.

Our View:Starting receiver Anthony Gonzalez is the biggest loss, along with head-hunting strong safety Bob Sanders and defensive tackle Keyunta Dawson. The Dolphins' offense could benefit with two defensive starters out.
September 17, 2009
Updating a previous report, Colts wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez could miss up to eight games this season with a knee injury, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:No word on why he was bumped up from only missing four weeks, but something is afoot. Gonzalez has sprained ligaments in his right knee, but the Colts likely knew that already so it's a mystery why his injury time doubled.
September 17, 2009
The Indianapolis Star reports that Anthony Gonzalez will not require surgery on his injured knee and looks to only miss four games.

Our View:Gonzalez will get an extra week of rest with the Colts bye in Week 6, so he should be ready to return Week 7 against the Rams. Assuming there are no setbacks in his recovery, that will be a great week to play him, as the Rams secondary leaves much to be desired.
September 14, 2009
Chris Mortensen of ESPN tweeted that the Colts are expecting an extended absence for Anthony Gonzalez after suffering a knee injury in Week 1 against the Jaguars.

Our View:The third-year receiver is meeting with doctors tonight. If the Colts don't target outside help, Pierre Garcon or Austin Collie will inherit the No. 2 role at receiver as Reggie Wayne's wingman while Gonzalez is on the shelf.
September 13, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez will miss the next two-to-six weeks due to his right knee injury, NFL.com reports. He has a strained knee ligament.

Our View:We're still hoping for more details, but fantasy owners now know that they have to plan to be without the Colts' No. 2 man. The Colts have a Week 6 bye, and they may plan to bring Gonzalez back after that point. Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie will need to step up unless the Colts turn to the free agent market.
September 13, 2009
The Colts have yet to reveal any details about Anthony Gonzalez's knee injury, but Peyton Manning tells ESPN.com that he is sick about the ailment.

Our View:We'll continue to look for updates. Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie may need to step up if Gonzalez is out for an extended period. The Colts may also need to start making some free agent calls.
September 13, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez injured his right knee during the first quarter of the Week 1 game against the Jaguars. His return is questionable, according to the team's official web site.

Our View:We don't know the extent of Gonzalez's injury at this point, but this early ailment is certainly a buzzkill for his fantasy owners. Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie will need to step up.
August 17, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez returned to practice Monday, according to the Colts' official website.

Our View:He has been nursing a minor hamstring injury, and Gonzalez should be safe to target in fantasy leagues.
August 13, 2009
According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Indianapolis Colts have ruled five starters out of the team's first preseason game. The list of players who won't play includes Anthony Gonzalez, Antoine Bethea, Kelvin Hayden, Ryan Diem, and Dallas Clark.

Our View:The Colts should be a little concerned that two of their top three receiving threats won't be able to play, but these injuries are minor for the most part. Expect most of these guys to play at some point in the preseason and to be ready for the start of the regular season.
August 2, 2009
According to Colts.com, Peyton Manning has named Anthony Gonzalez as the successor to Marvin Harrison's flanker position.

Our View:Reggie Wayne is still the number one guy, but Gonzalez looks to be much more involved this season. He should see some time in the slot as well this season, but Wayne will run most of the deep routes.
June 7, 2009
Anthony Gonzalez missed Sunday's practice with the Colts due to a right leg injury, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:He sustained the injury during Saturday's practice, and coach Jim Caldwell stated that Gonzalez could return to the field Tuesday or Wednesday. If healthy, Gonzalez is expected to replace Marvin Harrison as the starting receiver opposite Reggie Wayne.
