Seattle has officially acquired quarterback Charlie Whitehurst from the San Diego Chargers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View:He will most likely serve as Matt Hasselbeck's back-up in 2010 after Seneca Wallace departed for Cleveland earlier this offseason. Obviously, he will only come into value if Hasselbeck gets hurt, something that is not outside the realm of possibility by any means.

The Seahawks are expected to work out a deal with San Diego in the next coming days for Charlie Whitehurst, according to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora.

Our View:With Derek Anderson inking a deal with the Cardinals, Whitehurst has become Seattle's next target. Assuming he lands in Seattle, he'll be brought in as a backup to Matt Hasselbeck, and they'll at least try to groom him as their quarterback for the future.

Our View:Lombardi adds that things could change very shortly, though. The Seahawks also have Whitehurst on their radar, and were reportedly negotiating a deal with him.

Our View:The Seahawks would have to surrender a third-round draft pick to the Chargers as compensation in order to sign the tendered free agent. Seattle needs depth at quarterback after shipping Seneca Wallace to Cleveland.

Our View:Whitehurst visited Arizona today. Seattle needs depth at quarterback after shipping Seneca Wallace to Cleveland. The Chargers placed a third-round tender on Whitehurst, and they would have seven days to match an offer for him.
