ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that Falcons' running back Jerious Norwood practiced again on Friday. Norwood is listed as questionable for Sunday's game, but the team is hopeful that he will play.

Our View:It looks like Norwood will be able to go this week, and he will likely play behind Jason Snelling. Snelling is the better play here with Michael Turner out, but Norwood could have some value if Turner misses significant time.

Jerious Norwood (hip) participated in Falcons practice on Thursday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He has missed the team's past four games.

Our View:His return is a much bigger deal than it normally would be, as Michael Turner is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain. But even if Norwood is able to go Sunday, he'll likely be backing up Jason Snelling.

November 16, 2009
Jerious Norwood is nearing his return from a hip injury, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View:This is key news, as stud Michael Turner's status is uncertain after suffering a high-ankle sprain yesterday against Carolina. Jason Snelling and Norwood would share the workload at running back if Turner is on the shelf for a while. Snelling is more of a bruiser while Norwood is a big-play threat.

Our View:WR Roddy White (knee) is active and will start, while RB Jason Snelling will play in place of Norwood, who is out with a hip injury. On defense, LB Curtis Lofton (knee) and DE Kroy Biermann are active and will start.
November 12, 2009
Falcons' running back Jerious Norwood was excused from practice on Thursday to witness the birth of his child, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. His status for Week 10 is still uncertain.

Our View:Norwood is still suffering from his hip injury, so his absence today doesn't give any more info on his status. He should be back with the team tomorrow, so we will know more when the team takes the field.
November 10, 2009
Jerious Norwood's return from the injury that has kept him out the past two weeks is still uncertain, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View:Michael Turner's handcuff has ran the ball just 19 times for 78 yards this season. While he is out, Jason Snelling is backing up Turner.
November 8, 2009
Falcons inactives: SS Charlie Peprah, OT Garrett Reynolds, RB Jason Snelling, RB Jerious Norwood, QB John Parker Wilson, OT Quinn Ojinnaka, LB Spencer Adkins, DL Thomas Johnson.

Our View:Aaron Stecker will serve as Michael Turner's primary backup at running back with both Norwood and Snelling inactive. As previously reported, Roddy White is active and will start against Washington.
November 5, 2009
Falcons running back Jerious Norwood was held out of practice on Thursday due to his hip injury.

Our View:Norwood has been out all week and won't be available for Week 9. He should be ready to return next week, but until then Aaron Stecker or Jason Snelling will hand the backup duties behind Michael Turner.
November 2, 2009
Falcons' inactives for Week 8: running back Jerious Norwood, running back Jason Snelling, defensive tackle Thomas Johnson, offensive tackles Garrett Reynolds and Quinn Ojinnaka, cornerback Antoine Harris, linebacker Spencer Adkins and third quarterback John Parker Wilson.

Our View:With Norwood and Snelling both out, Michael Turner will get a vast majority of the carries against the Saints tonight. Newly acquired back Aaron Stecker will also see some time thanks to the injuries.
October 31, 2009
Jerious Norwood missed his third straight practice on Saturday as he fights a hip injury, according to NFL.com.

Our View:He is questionable for Monday against the Saints. Third stringer Jason Snelling is also fighting injury, and Michael Turner could be forced to carry a very heavy load on Monday night if one or both are injured.
October 30, 2009
Jerious Norwood missed practice for the second straight day Friday due to his ailing hip, according to the Saints' official website.

Our View:Norwood is day-to-day, but does not seem likely to play on Monday night at New Orleans. Jason Snelling would serve as Michael Turner's primary backup if Norwood is out.

October 21, 2009
Updating a previous report, Jerious Norwood has been ruled out for Week 7 and may have a more serious injury than originally anticipated, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View:Norwood predicts that he could miss "more than a couple of weeks" with the hip flexor injury. The bad luck continues for Michael Turner's backup as he has already had two concussions and a knee injury in his contract year. It now looks as if his hip will end up hurting his wallet.
October 21, 2009
Jerious Norwood (hip) is considered questionable for Week 7, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:The Falcons are calling him day-to-day with the injury that forced him from last Sunday's game in the first half. There is hope that he will improve as the week progresses, but with him being banged up and stuck behind workhorse Michael Turner, it's best to look for fantasy options elsewhere.
October 18, 2009
Jerious Norwood exited Sunday night's game just before halftime with a hip injury and is doubtful to return.

Our View:Norwood had 21 yards on four carries and 12 yards on a pair of receptions before getting leveled at the end of a run by a Bears defender. The hit looked nasty and his status for the rest of the game is very much in doubt.
September 30, 2009
Falcons' running back Jerious Norwood returned to practice on Wednesday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Norwood was recovering from his second concussion of the season that he sustained on September 20.

Our View:It looks like Norwood should be ready to go this weekend, as he has been medically cleared to return to the field. He is a quality backup to starter Michael Turner, and would be a good play if Turner went down.
September 28, 2009
Head coach Mike Smith expects Jerious Norwood to be fit to return to the gridiron after the Falcons' Week 4 bye, according to their official team website. He is recovering from a head injury.

Our View:The Falcons will contend with the 49ers in Week 5, and Norwood would serve as the primary backup behind Michael Turner if able to play.

Jerious Norwood (knee) is being held out of the team's final preseason game only as a precautionary move, according to AtlantaFalcons.com

August 30, 2009
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the injury to the knee of Falcons' running back Jerious Norwood is not believed to be serious. The team did not allow him to return to the game as a prcautionary measure.

Our View:Norwood returned to the sidelines after getting the knee checked out last night, and the team doesn't seem at all concerned with the injury. He will likely see some time in the team's next preseason game, and he should be fine for the start of the regular season.
August 30, 2009
Jerious Norwood was forced to leave the Falcons' preseason game against the Chargers on Saturday with a knee injury, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View:He suffered the injury on a kickoff return. No details are available yet on just how serious it is.
August 8, 2009
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that in the Falcons practice on Saturday backup running back Jerious Norwood ran "more determined."

Our View:Sounds like Norwood is trying to show that he's ready to take on a healthier workload this season. The Falcons want to spell Michael Turner more often to keep him fresh and the lightning fast Norwood will reap the additional carries. He's a great choice for a backup running back on draft day.
July 16, 2009
Jerious Norwood could get more carries in 2009, and improve on his career high 36 receptions from 2008, according to ESPN.

Our View:Norwood is expected to get more carries this season as the Falcons try to limit the wear and tear on feature back Michael Turner, and to be highly involved in the passing game. He should be one of the first backups off your draft board, and is a good candidate to start in place of your regulars if they are on a bye.
May 13, 2009
An undisclosed source close to the Falcons indicated that Jerious Norwood is expected to hold a larger role in the offense this season, according to ESPN. The source said, "The last thing we want is Michael having to carry 375 times again."

Our View:Turner will still see enough carries to have another strong campaign in the Falcons' run-oriented offense, and getting Norwood more work will only help him stay healthier - namely down the stretch when fantasy owners need him the most. As for Norwood, he should be targeted as a handcuff for Turner.
