January 24, 2010 Maurice Jones-Drew has been named a finalist for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, according to the Jaguars' official twitter page. Our View:The Payton award annually recognizes a player's volunteer and charity work, as well as his excellence on the field. It was previously called the NFL Man of the Year away, and past recipients were Kurt Warner (2008) and Jason Taylor (2007). |

January 4, 2010 It appears coach Jack Del Rio will be back with the Jaguars for an eighth season in 2010, according to the Florida Times Union. Our View:The paper reports that Del Rio "quietly" signed an extension during the season. That was almost certainly before the team lost its final four games in a slow fade from the playoff picture. |

January 3, 2010 Maurice Jones-Drew exited the game at Cleveland in the first quarter with an ankle injury, but returned after missing only one snap. Our View:Jones-Drew, who has five carries for 24 yards thus far in the first quarter, appears to be fine. |
