Newsbreakers
December 29, 2008
The New York Daily News reports that Browns owner Randy Lerner said he will likely contact recently fired Jets coach Eric Mangini about replacing the recently fired Browns coach Romeo Crennel.

Our View:The Browns have a long list of candidates who they will look at, but Mangini figures to bring some valuable head coaching experience.

Romeo Crennel has been fired by the Browns, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:The Browns had a solid run in 2007, but Crennel went 24-40 overall during four seasons as their head coach. The club held the second-worst record in the AFC at 4-12, and GM Phil Savage was cut loose as well.
December 1, 2008
Derek Anderson will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn left MCL, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Anderson will not need surgery but will need to wear a brace for around 4-6 weeks.

Our View:Anderson broke out in 2007, but won't be missed by fantasy owners as he only threw nine touchdown passes over 10 games, with an anemic 66.5 efficiency rating. Ken Dorsey will start in Week 14, but will have a tough match-up at Tennessee.
December 1, 2008
Derek Anderson is awaiting MRI results after sustaining a knee injury in Sunday's close loss to the Colts, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:If he sustained ligament damage, he could be done for the season. The injury was initially believed to be a sprained MCL. He will miss Week 14 at Tennessee, with Ken Dorsey the top candidate to replace him as the starter.
November 30, 2008
Just several days after losing Brady Quinn to a broken finger, Cleveland also lost Derek Anderson to a left MCL injury in the waning moments of Sunday's 10-6 defeat to the Indianapolis Colts. The recovery time for MCL injuries is usually 3-4 weeks, which likely means Anderson is out for the remainder of the 2008 season. according to ESPN.

Our View:Ken Dorsey, who entered the year as the third-string quarterback, will start next week against the Tennessee Titans and probably for the rest of the year. This development negatively impacts the value of all the Browns' skill position players heading into the fantasy playoffs.
