Derek Anderson has been benched as the Browns' starting quarterback, according to ESPN. Brady Quinn will now take the reigns.

Our View:And with merit. Anderson is last among all NFL quarterbacks with at least six games played in quarterback rating, and second to last in passing yards. His turnover-to-touchdown ratio is 6-to-1. Expect the Browns to finally take a long, serious look at Quinn three seasons after drafting him.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Derek Anderson is not locked into starting at quarterback for the Browns in Week 10.

Our View:Not surprising considering he's last among all NFL quarterbacks with at least six games played in QB rating and second to last in yards passing. He has thrown nine interceptions and lost thee fumbles while throwing for just two touchdowns. With Brady Quinn yet to get a fair shot at locking down the Browns' QB job in three years in the league, the time is now.

In an indictment of just how pitiful the Browns offense has been this season, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the New Orleans Saints have scored six defensive touchdowns this season, while Cleveland has scored just five offensive touchdowns.

Our View:Yet first year coach Eric Mangini and the Browns continue to go with faltering veterans Derek Anderson and Jamal Lewis at quarterback and running back, respectively. Something is deeply wrong in Cleveland, and it's not all because of recently fired first-year GM George Kokinis. Meanwhile, Brady Quinn and Jerome Harrison continue to wait for their chances.

ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that the Cleveland Browns have fired GM George Kokinis. Kokinis was reportedly escorted out of the buliding earlier in the day.

Our View:There is some major controversy going down in Cleveland, as Kokinis was reportedly fired "with cause", meaning he will not be paid the balance of his contract. This whole situation is just further proof that the Browns are as dysfunctional as it gets.

Over the past four weeks, Derek Anderson has completed just 29-of-87 passes for 320 yards. He has one touchdown and five interceptions in that span.

Our View:His high yardage total for any of the four games is 122, and he has failed to eclipse 100 in the other three. It's one of the truly inept streaks of quarterbacking in NFL history, and it speaks to Anderson's awfulness that has been thoroughly outplayed by the Raiders' JaMarcus Russell during the span. With Brady Quinn's incentive laden contract about to get expensive for the Browns if he plays anymore this season, however, the team seems likely to stick with Anderson. Mercifully, the Browns fans get a break this week as the team is on bye.
