As expected, Brandon Jacobs has been placed on injured reserve following his Week 16 knee injury, according to the Star-Ledger. The move opens up a roster spot for the Giants final game of the season.

Our View:Jacobs was a terrible fantasy letdown this season as he averaged just 3.7 yards per carry, and found the end-zone only five times. He did not receive more than 20 carries since Week 5.

Brandon Jacobs has been officially ruled out for Week 17 with a knee injury, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. He will have his knee scoped at some point during the week.

Our View:Jacobs is coming off a monumentally embarrassing six carry, one yard performance, and an embarrassing season at that. After once looking like the future of New York's run game, he averaged just 3.7 yards per carry in 2009, and found the end-zone only five times. This was after he averaged a robust five yards per carry in his 15-touchdown 2008 season.

Brandon Jacobs is blaming his dismal Sunday performance on a knee injury, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. He says his knee stiffened up because he was often not on the field as the Giants played out of the shotgun formation in an attempt to make up its huge deficit against the Panthers. He finished the day with a pathetic six carries for one yard.

Our View:Don't consider him too likely for Week 17. Not that you should play him, anyways, if your fantasy season is on the line. He last rushed for over 60 yards in a game in Week 9, and has just two touchdowns since Week 11.

Following the 41-9 loss to Carolina, running back Brandon Jacobs said his knee "took about as much as it could take" and he needs some rest, according to Mike Garafolo's twitter page.

Our View:Jacobs, who had six carries for one yard on the day, left in the fourth quarter with a knee injury. He had X-rays in the locker room and we are currently awaiting the results. Reading between the lines, Jacobs sounds like he will be questionable at best to play in Week 17 at Minnesota.
