Newsbreakers
October 7, 2009
ESPN.com reports that Rams left tackle Alex Barron worked with the first string offense on Wednesday and may start against the Vikings on Sunday.

Our View:Barron has been in coach Steve Spagnuolo's doghouse and was benched last week in favor of John Greco, but the two have appeared to put their troubles behind them and move on. Looks like Barron will get another crack at it in Week 5.

Alex Barron has been benched in favor of John Greco at left tackle in today's divisional game at San Francisco.

Our View:Barron has not been performing up to expectations as a former first-round pick (2005), and the Rams feel they are better off with Greco right now.

Rams' offensive tackle Alex Barron was limited in practice again on Thursday, according to the team's official website. Barron did more in practice today, and he is expected to be fine for the team's game against the 49ers on Sunday.

Our View:Barron's injury isn't anything to worry about, and barring some unforeseen circumstances he should be fine for this week. With first-round pick Jason Smith out, the Rams need Barron to be healthy and effective.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that Rams' offensive lineman Alex Barron will be a game-time decision for Friday's preseason game against the Falcons. Barron has been dealing with some swelling in his knee.

Our View:Barron's MRI revealed no damage, so it will just depend on how the knee feels on Friday. The Rams aren't too concerned about the injury, but it would be nice to get Barron on the field as much as possible.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that Rams' offensive tackle Alex Barron is scheduled for an MRI after experiencing swelling in his knee. Barron hadn't missed any practice time until Monday, and the MRI will determine how severe the injury is.

Our View:The Rams are acting as if they aren't too concerned about this injury, but the MRI will give everyone a definitive idea of what is wrong with Barron. The Rams can ill-afford to lose Barron, but we will keep you updated on the results of the test.

It's "now or never" for former first round pick and right tackle Alex Barron in St. Louis, ESPN reports.

Our View:Barron has been hugely disappointing and penalty-prone in four seasons as the Rams left tackle, and if he does not step up big time in taking over for pro-bowler Orlando Pace at right tackle, his time in St. Louis will almost certainly be done.
April 3, 2009
Alex Barron has moved to left tackle to replace Orlando Pace, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Barron said, "It is what it is. I will go over there and see if I can work some kinks out. I have not been over there in a while, and I am a little rusty. I have just got a lot of things to work on." Jacob Bell is moving to right tackle as Barron's replacement.

Our View:Head coach Steve Spagnuolo noted that the job is not Barron's yet. The club may target a tackle with the No. 2 pick in the draft, such as Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe.

Alex Barron is the in-house candidate to replace Orlando Pace at left tackle after being released, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:Barron started at right tackle for most of his four campaigns with the Rams, but is not a solid pro, which could be more of an issue with him moving to the left side. Jacob Bell is expected to move to the right side. With that said, the club should consider drafting Baylor's Jason Smith or Virginia's Eugene Monroe with the second-overall pick in the upcoming draft.
