Erasmus James is expected to be activated from the PUP list as he has passed his physical, according to the Washington Post. He has been recovering from knee surgery. Kevin Huntley is expected to be released when James returns.

Our View:James once had great upside, but his career was ruined by injuries, and should only provide quality depth for Washington this season.

The Washington Post reports that Erasmus James, 25, is making progress in his recovery from knee surgery and continues to work alone with trainers. Coach Jim Zorn said he is progressing despite his limited workload. James received positive reviews from the training staff during a personnel meeting Monday night, but is still a ways away from contributing. Zorn hopes James can get on the field sometime in mid-to-late August and perhaps play in the final preseason game for a play or two. "We're not going to try to hurry it," Zorn said.

Our View:It's not likely that James will be seeing much regular season action before October, but once he comes back, he will provide quality depth on the 'Skins defensive line.

Defensive end Erasmus James, a former first-round selection of the Vikings, will have to perform very well in training camp and the preseason in order to make the Redskins final roster, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:James has been a bust after coming out of Wisconsin with such high expectations. He only accumulated seven tackles and one sack last season and his time in the NFL may be winding down.

Erasmus James is reportedly at about 90 percent health, according to the Washington Post. The team will bring him along slowly with hopes of him being ready to start the regular season. He is recovering from a knee injury.

Our View:James failed to make an impact in Minnesota, but they were among the most talented and deepest teams in the NFL at defensive end, and he could prove to be an asset in Washington, as they have a significant need for depth at the position. James may not live up to his previously high expectations and develop into an elite pro, but he could prove to be a pleasant surprise in Washington this season.

The Washington Redskins have traded a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2009 draft to Minnesota for defensive end Erasmus James, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:The Redskins have a glaring need for depth at defensive end, and though James fell out of favor in Minnesota, he does possess some upside potential.
