Newsbreakers
November 13, 2009
Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell practiced in full on Friday and is listed as probable for Week 10.

Our View:Campbell has been hampered by an ankle injury recently, but will almost certainly take the field on Sunday. That being said, he's a terrible fantasy option especially against a tough Bronco's defense, and should remain on your waiver wire.
November 11, 2009
The Sports Network reports that Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell was limited in practice on Wednesday by an ankle injury.

Our View:He is still expected to play against the Broncos on Sunday, however. The match-up is not a favorable one, with Brian Dawkins, Champ Bailey and Ty Law surely all chomping at the bit after a disappointing showing against the Steelers on Monday night.
November 10, 2009
Despite spraining his ankle in the Redskins' latest loss last Sunday, Jason Campbell expects to start this weekend against the Broncos, according to the Washington Times.

Our View:Campbell is also dealing with a minor chest contusion. The Broncos' experienced secondary will likely be angry after getting shredded by Ben Roethlisberger in the second half in Week 9, so it's hard to envision Campbell having his first multiple-touchdown game since Week 4, particularly with no real running game to take the heat off of him.
November 8, 2009
Updating an earlier report, Jason Campbell expects to be fine for Week 10 after leaving today's game at Atlanta twice with injuries, according to Cindy Boren's (Washington Post) twitter page.

Our View:Campbell suffered a chest contusion, as well as an ankle injury. If Campbell does get the green light to play next week, he will have a tough matchup against the Broncos.
November 8, 2009
Jason Campbell completed 15-of-22 passes for 196 yards in today's 31-17 loss at Atlanta. He threw one touchdown pass and one interception.

Our View:Campbell left the game twice, once with a chest contusion and the second with an apparent ankle ailment. He would not be a recommended fantasy option if deemed fit to start in Week 10 with a tough matchup against Denver.
November 8, 2009
Jason Campbell exited today's game against Atlanta for the second time, according to Cindy Boren's (Washington Post) twitter page. He appears to have a tender ankle.

Our View:Todd Collins will again replace him at quarterback. There are less than eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.
November 8, 2009
Updating an earlier report, Jason Campbell suffered a chest contusion when sacked for the fifth time in today's game at Atlanta, according to Cindy Boren's (Washington Post) twitter page.

Our View:Campbell's return is probable. Todd Collins will fill in at quarterback in his absence.
November 8, 2009
Jason Campbell did not get up after taking his fifth sack in today's game against Atlanta, according to Cindy Boren's (Washington Post) twitter page.

Our View:His left shoulder was driven into the ground, and trainers attended to him on the field. Todd Collins would step in at quarterback in his absence.
October 26, 2009
Jason Campbell was 29-of-43 for 284 yards and two touchdowns in the Redskins' 27-17 loss to the Eagles on Monday. Campbell also threw an interception and fumbled the ball twice.

Our View:Campbell's overall numbers weren't bad at all tonight, but the turnovers were killer in tonight's game. He looked better overall tonight, but he is still not a very good fantasy quarterback.
October 23, 2009
Supposedly, embattled Redskins coach Jim Zorn will keep his job for the rest of the season, according to ESPN.

Our View:This means quarterback Jason Campbell may keep his job with him. If he struggles as mightily in the first half this Sunday as he did last week, however, expect Zorn to again play Captain Hook and pull him early.
October 20, 2009
Despite being benched at halftime of the Redskins' Week 6 loss to the Chiefs, Jason Campbell will start over Todd Collins at quarterback in Week 7, according to NFL.com.

Our View:He'll be taking on an Eagles team that just lost to the Raiders. If JaMarcus Russell can quarterback a winning team against Philadelphia, surely Jason Campbell can. If you are a Campbell owner, though, you need to be prepared for anything, most notably adding Collins.
October 19, 2009
Although the Washington Redskins have not committed on a starting quarterback for the team's Week 7 game, ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting on Twitter that Jason Campbell might still get the start. Campbell was benched at halftime Sunday's loss to the Chiefs.

Our View:Campbell has not been good this season, but the Skins may very well let him start again next week. At this point, Campbell shouldn't be starting for anyone's fantasy team, and he should only be rostered as a backup in very deep leagues.
October 19, 2009
After getting benched at halftime of the Redskins' embarrassing 14-6 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday, Jason Campbell may not start against the Eagles next Monday, according to Rick Maese of the Washington Post.

Our View:Campbell was 9-of-16 for 89 yards before getting benched, also throwing an interception. Todd Collins wasn't any better in relief, however, going just 6-of-14 for 75 yards.
October 18, 2009
Jason Campbell has been benched in favor of Todd Collins to start the second half of today's game against Kansas City, according to Cindy Boren's (Washington Post) twitter page.

Our View:The Redskins only have three points so far, despite a favorable home matchup. The Chiefs' defense was ranked dead last in total yards allowed per game heading into today's contest. The offense may not improve while under the direction of Collins.
October 4, 2009
Jason Campbell got the job done in Sunday's close 16-13 win over the Buccaneers at FedEx Field, as he completed 12-of-22 passes for 170 yards, with two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed seven times for 20 yards.

Our View:Campbell threw three interceptions, but was able to get the Redskins back on track after losing to the Lions in Week 3. He put the team ahead to stay in the third quarter on a 59-yard scoring strike to speed demon Santana Moss.
September 27, 2009
Jason Campbell completed 27-of-41 passes for 339 yards with two touchdowns against one interception in the Week 3 loss to Detroit.

Our View:Campbell, who had his best game of the season, fumbled twice but recovered both of them. He has now passed for 241 or more yards in each of the last two games, and could make it three in a row with Tampa Bay visiting the nation's capital next weekend.
September 25, 2009
Jason Campbell has been nursing a sore ankle, but expects to start Sunday's game at Detroit, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:Campbell could be counted on more with star running back Clinton Portis questionable with an ankle injury. Campbell will have a good match-up against a tame Lions' defense.
September 23, 2009
Although he has been limited by a sore ankle in practice this week, Jason Campbell is adamant that he will play this Sunday against the Lions, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:The team expects him to play, as well. The Lions have allowed a league-high eight passing touchdowns through two games this season, so Campbell could be in line for a big day at Ford Field.
September 21, 2009
Jason Campbell will likely be limited in practice this week with a sprained foot, according to Rick Maese of the Washington Post.

Our View:He is fully expected to play against the Lions next week, however.
September 20, 2009
The Washington Post reports that quarterback Jason Campbell played in Sunday's game with a sprained ankle. He apparently suffered the injury in the second quarter of Tuesday's win over the Rams.

Our View:Campbell was able to effectively finish out the game so we doubt that he is on the injury report next week. Still, he could be somewhat limited in practice on Wednesday.
September 20, 2009
Jason Campbell carried the Redskins in Sunday's 9-7 win over the Rams at FedEx Field, as he completed 23-of-35 passes for 242 yards, with no touchdowns or interceptions. He also ran seven times for 28 yards.

Our View:Campbell failed to throw the ball into the endzone, but this was an encouraging performance for the young quarterback.
August 28, 2009
The oft-maligned Jason Campbell looked sharp on Friday night, completing 13-of-22 passes for 209 yards, while also rushing for a score, as the Redskins lost to the Patriots.

Our View:The game was a marked improvement on his 1-of-7 performance the last time out, and should help Redskins fans breathe a little easier heading into the regular season. He'll never be mistaken for a solid fantasy quarterback, but you could do worse for a bye-week buy.
August 22, 2009
Jason Campbell went 1-for-7 for 10 yards in the team's preseason game against the Steelers on Saturday.

Our View:Nota great showing for Campbell tonight, but in his defense the weather conditions were less than ideal. Campbell needs to have a big season, and although this was only one preseason game, it is not starting out well for him.
June 25, 2009
Jason Campbell is playing for an NFL job in 2010 this season, says The Washington Post.

Our View:It was no secret that the Redskins were actively trying to trade Campbell for Jay Cutler this offseason, and he has been solid if unspectacular during his time in D.C. Flashy 'Skins owner Daniel Snyder will likely be looking to get rid of him after '09 if he is just average again, and the market usually proves surprisingly unforgiving for castaway QBs. Campbell would be well served to have a career year in 2009.
April 27, 2009
The Washington Post is reporting that Jason Campbell is ready to put the drama of the offseason behind him and participate in minicamp. There had been numerous rumors that the Redskins were trying to acquire Mark Sanchez in the draft to replace Campbell.

Our View:Now that the Skins didn't get the quarterback they wanted, they are stuck with the guy they already have. Campbell, who was once regarded as the quarterback of the future in Washington, has fallen out of favor with the coaching staff. He remains their starter and he is capable of putting up solid numbers, but he needs to put this offseason behind him.
April 24, 2009
The Jets are believed to be interested in Jason Campbell, according to the Washington Times.

Our View:The Redskins could deal Campbell if they are able to trade up in the draft and acquire quarterback Mark Sanchez (USC). Campbell only threw six interceptions last season with a 84.3 efficiency rating, and would be an upgrade over any of the quarterbacks currently on the Jets' roster.
April 23, 2009
Steve Wyche of NFL Network stated that if the Redskins draft USC quarterback Mark Sanchez, Jason Campbell will demand a trade.

Our View:We knew Campbell couldn't be happy with all the Sanchez talk and it looks like we were right. The Skins, if they can land Sanchez, already plan to dump Campbell on either the Vikings, Jets or Bucs for a draft pick.
April 22, 2009
The Kansas City Star reports that when asked if Jason Campbell would be his starting quarterback in 2009, coach Jim Zorn responded, "Nothing is etched in stone." The Redskins are believed to be interested in trading up to get Mark Sanchez.

Our View:Campbell can not be thrilled with all the rumors swirling around the quarterback position this offseason. At this point, he might be better off making a fresh start elsewhere.
April 3, 2009
Quarterback Jason Campbell met with Redskins officials Friday over recent reports that the team was attempting to acquire Jay Cutler to be the starter in Washington, according to the Associated Press. "We told Jason that when Jay Cutler became available, we, like many other NFL teams, spoke with the Broncos," executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato said. "We are all on the same page and we are moving forward."

Our View:Amid the talk of Cutler coming to Washington, Campbell took the higher ground by saying he would use the reports as motivation to work harder this offseason. After a big sigh of relief, it appears he is safe as the Skins starting quarterback for 2009.
April 2, 2009
Jason Campbell declared himself a starter and does not intend to serve as a backup following the news that the Redskins were reportedly trying to acquire Jay Cutler from the Broncos, according to WUSA9.com.

Our View:The news regarding Cutler is believed to just be a rumor, and the Redskins VP of football operations Vinny Cerrato stated earlier in March that Campbell will be the Redskins' starting quarterback.
April 1, 2009
According to the Washington Post, Jason Campbell was reportedly offered to a team that remains nameless for a second round pick on Wednesday.

Our View:The Redskins clearly don't want to move forward with Campbell as their quarterback. They failed to offer him a long tern contract and now they're dangling him as bait across the league. The deal didn't go through most likely because it was hinged on the Skins landing Jay Cutler. But don't expect Campbell to stay put much longer.
March 8, 2009
Quarterback Jason Campbell's salary for the 2009 season will increase from $783,000 to $2.858 million, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:As is the case with teammate Carlos Rogers, Campbell will receive the pay increase because of a clause in his contract that relates to a specified number of games played.
February 20, 2009
The Redskins are not expected to offer Jason Campbell a long-term extension, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:Campbell only threw six interceptions over 506 passing attempts last season, but the club is not convinced he can carry the team at the position. He has one year left on his current contract, and will be expected to prove himself in 2009.
January 1, 2009
The Washington Post reports that the Redskins vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato said that Jason Campbell will have to prove himself in 2009 if he hopes to remain with the team after the season.

Our View:Campbell finished the season with an 84.3 quarterback rating, despite not throwing an interception until Week 9. He has been fairly inconsistent throughout his first three seasons, and that may be due to the constant changing of offensive coordinators.
