Newsbreakers
March 3, 2010
According to the Chicago Tribune, free safety Antrel Rolle is looking for a contract that will set him up with $8 million per year.

Our View:Rolle would make more than Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu if he got that kind of cabbage. He likely doesn't deserve it, but with the market being so thin at the position this season someone will likely pay up. It won't be the Cardinals though.

Head coach Lovie Smith hinted that the Bears will be interested in adding Antrel Rolle if he is released by the Cardinals, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:The Bears are in the market for a veteran safety, and could also consider Kerry Rhodes, Ryan Clark or Michael Huff if they do not reel in Rolle. He is coming off a solid campaign in Arizona, as he notched 72 tackles and four interceptions.

According to azcardinals.com, the team is expected to release free safety Antrel Rolle sometime this week.

Our View:This is a quick flip-flop. The Cards were working on an extension with Rolle, but are now going to release him to avoiding shelling out $4 million for his impending roster bonus. This will likely sour him on staying in Arizona and the big-play providing defender will become an unrestricted free agent. Expect several teams to target him, and for him to land somehwere outside the desert.

According to the Cardinals official site, the team is working on a contract extension for talented free safety Antrel Rolle.

Our View:Rolle is only 27 and will likely be looking for five or six-year deal. The Cards should oblige as he is owed $8.11 million in salary and a $4 million roster bonus this year. He's a big-time playmaker and Arizona's defense will certainly be better if they retain him as opposed to letting him walk.

University of Miami product Antrel Rolle would be open to playing for the Dolphins in 2010 if the Cardinals decide to cut him and his $12 million salary, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:The Cardinals will most likely try to restructure the pro bowler's deal, but if he refuses, the Birds may be forced to cut him. Look for the Dolphins to be very interested if that is indeed the case.
January 16, 2010
It has been determined that Antrel Rolle suffered a concussion in today's playoff loss at New Orleans, according to the Cardinals' official website.

Our View:Rolle has the entire offseason to recover. He had a good campaign, and chipped in four interceptions for Arizona in 2009.
January 16, 2010
Antrel Rolle suffered a head injury during today's game at New Orleans, and he is questionable to return, according to Charles Robinson's (Yahoo! Sports) twitter page.

Our View:This is another big loss for Arizona, as top cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie exited earlier with a knee injury. Their pass defense was ranked 23rd at the end of the regular season.
January 7, 2010
Antrel Rolle was limited in Thursday's practice, according to the Cardinals' official website. He is dealing with a thigh injury.

Our View:This is encouraging regarding his availability for this weekend's playoff game against Green Bay. The rangy safety will be needed while trying to slow down Aaron Rodgers and Co.
January 6, 2010
Azcardinals.com reports that free safety Antrel Rolle did not practice on Wednesday due to a thigh injury.

Our View:Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (knee) didn't practice either, but with Wednesday being kind of a cushy day on the practice schedule this isn't a huge surprise. Both are expected to be ready to take on the Packers in this Sunday's Wild Card matchup.

Cardinals Week 17 inactives: QB Brian St. Pierre (3rd), FS Antrel Rolle, LB Bertrand Berry, FB Dan Kreider, OL Herman Johnson, WR Sean Morey, TE Ben Patrick, and DE Kenny Iwabema

Our View:Rolle has been questionable all week with a sore ankle, but with the Vikings winning earlier in the day, the Cardinals felt it was better to not push him. Don't expect the Cardinals' top players to play the whole game.
