Braylon Edwards has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge after he was accused of punching a man outside a nightclub in October, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:The man who was assaulted is a friend of LeBron James, and the NBA star noted that Edwards' actions were "childish." Edwards waived his right to a quick trial and was slated for a December 12 court hearing.

Braylon Edwards hauled in four passes for 74 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-25 loss to Miami at the Meadowlands.

Our View:The Dolphins started two rookies at cornerback, and Edwards cashed in with a solid performance for fantasy owners. He bounced back after only catching one pass for 14 yards last week at Oakland.

John Czarnecki of FOX Sports expects the Jets to throw deep to Braylon Edwards today to exploit the Dolphins' rookie cornerbacks (Vontae Davis and Sean Smith).

Our View:Rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez has been inconsistent, but Edwards looks to be a good play for fantasy owners today.

According to the New York Post, Jets' wide receiver Braylon Edwards is not likely to be suspended by the league this season despite being charged with assault. The NFL is monitoring the situation, but under the player conduct policy, a player with no prior history is not suspended until there is resolution from the court.

Our View:There isn't likely to be any resolution from the court system until after this season, and it looks like Edwards will be safe from suspension regardless of what the court decides. He won't be so lucky if he finds himself in trouble again, but Edwards is not known as a trouble-maker, so he should be fine going forward.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Jets' wide receiver Braylon Edwards has been charged with misdemeanor assault in connection with an incident outside a nightclub in Cleveland a few weeks ago. Edwards could face a sentence of up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Our View:It looked like this was a non-issue after it happened a few weeks ago, but the charges were filed against Edwards today. He isn't likely in any real danger of facing jail time, but the league is already monitoring the situation and he will likely be hearing from the commish very soon. Edwards owners need to keep tabs on any decision from the league, as a suspension seems entirely possible.
