Derrick Mason agreed to a two-year deal to remain with the Ravens, according to Jamison Hensley's (Baltimore Sun) twitter page. Terms were not disclosed.

Our View:Mason will see less double teams with stud Anquan Boldin added to Baltimore's arsenal at receiver - but that will also likely mean less pass targets for Mason.

According to Jason La Canfora on Twitter, free agent wideout Derrick Mason is likely to remain with the Ravens.

Our View:La Canfora thinks that there is still a good chance of this happening despite all the moves the Ravens have made at the position already. He'll likely get a one-year deal because of his age, but there is legit interest between his former club, the Pats and the Dolphins.
March 4, 2010
An undisclosed league source believes the Patriots could target free agent Derrick Mason, according to Aaron Wilson's (Ravens Insider) twitter page.

Our View:Mason was on New England's radar the last time he was a free agent. They could use another veteran receiver with Wes Welker recovering from a serious knee injury as well.

The Ravens and Derrick Mason to not appear likely to agree to a contract extension before free agency begins at midnight tonight, according to the Carroll County Times.

Our View:Mason wants a lot of guaranteed early money, while the Ravens are not so sure. Regardless of the current posturing by both sides, expect a deal to soon get done.

According to the Nashville Tennessean, the Ravens are working on bringing Derrick Mason back on a multi-year deal.

Our View:It's been widely publicized that Mason wanted to return to the Ravens and that they in turn wanted him back as well, but this is the first we're hearing about more than one season. Mason is 36 so signing him for any more than one season is a risky move. The Ravens feel that he doesn't seem 36 physically though, so this thing might get done. Mason is coming off a fine 1,028-yard, seven-score season, so maybe they're onto something.
February 18, 2010
Derrick Mason noted that he is willing to play with another NFL club if the Ravens decide not to re-sign him, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:Mason turned 36 in January, but still has a bit left in the tank after hauling in 73 catches for 1,028 yards and seven scores in 2009. He should not have trouble finding work with another club if Baltimore lets him go.
February 17, 2010
According to the National Football Post, the Ravens fully intend to re-sign wide receiver Derrick Mason.

Our View:Mason was the Ravens number-one wideout this past season, but they are looking for a younger deep threat to take over that spot. Mason would likely be the team's number-two when that happens and new addition Donte Stallworth would take over the third slot.
January 31, 2010
After retiring for all of a few weeks last summer before eventually playing in 2009, Derrick Mason is expected to be back in Baltimore next season, according to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times.

Our View:The ageless Mason had yet another 1,000 yard receiving season in 2009, and remains a very valuable member of the Ravens. Expect similar results in 2010 if he indeed suits up again.
January 18, 2010
Derrick Mason is leaning slightly toward retiring, with odds that he'll hang up his cleats currently at 60 percent, according to the Carroll County Times' Aaron Wilson.

Our View:Sixty percent doesn't seem too convincing, so it looks like the Ravens have to wait things out this offseason before eventually getting a decision from Mason. He's still clearly the team's best receiver, so look for Baltimore to push for his return.
January 17, 2010
Derrick Mason is undecided about his 2010 playing status, according to ESPN.

Our View:You may remember that Mason "retired" last offseason before unretiring and playing in all 16 of Baltimore's games in 2009. Just days away from turning 36, he caught 73 balls for 1,028 yards and seven touchdowns this season. He has now surpassed 1,000 yards receiving in eight of his past nine seasons.
January 16, 2010
Derrick Mason caught four passes for 64 yards in tonight's 20-3 playoff loss at Indianapolis.

Our View:Mason had a decent outing, especially since he was dealing with a hand injury. The 35-year-old vet is 137 receptions away from 1,000, and should have enough left in the tank to reach that milestone if he wishes to do so.
January 15, 2010
Derrick Mason fully practiced Friday, according to the Ravens' official website.

Our View:Mason has been nursing a hand injury, but is expected to play in Saturday's playoff game at Indianapolis. He provides veteran experience to a young Baltimore offense led by quarterback Joe Flacco and running back Ray Rice.
January 13, 2010
NFL.com reports that Ravens wide receiver Derrick Mason (hand) fully participated in Wednesday's practice.

Our View:Mason has been dealing with a knee injury as well, but is still expected to play in Saturday's divisional game against the Colts. His returning to a full practice is certainly a good sign, as the Ravens will need all the help they can get against a very formidable Indianapolis club.
January 8, 2010
Derrick Mason has been nursing a knee ailment, but he is probable for this weekend's playoff game at New England, according to the Ravens' official website.

Our View:The veteran receiver will try to lead the receiving corps against the Patriots' 12th ranked pass defense at Gillette Stadium.
January 6, 2010
Derrick Mason fully practiced Wednesday, according to the Ravens' official website.

Our View:Mason is among the toughest receivers in the NFL, and should be ready for this weekend's playoff battle at New England, who are ranked 12th in pass defense. He will turn 36 later this month.
January 1, 2010
Derrick Mason (knee) is questionable for Week 17 against the Raiders, according to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times.

Our View:Mason is a seasoned-veteran who will almost surely play in Sunday's must-win game for the Ravens. If Baltimore can get up big on the hapless Raiders early, however, he might not have to play much.
