Despite there still being no official word from Raiders owner Al Davis, ESPN's Adam Schefter says Tom Cable is returning as the team's head coach for the 2010 season.

Our View:Schefter says Raiders assistant coaches have been "informing players that staff will remain intact next season." It's clear that Davis simply has no intention of making a public statement about his coach's future, and just assumes we will all figure it out for ourselves eventually.

Nnamdi Asomugha said he would like to play for the New York Jets, according to ESPN.

Our View:Asomugha said he talked to New York head coach Rex Ryan about the prospects of him leaving Oakland. It is uncertain if Ryan crossed the line or is guilty of tampering, but it is clear that Asomugha would give the Jets the best cornerback tandem in the NFL when paired with fellow stud Darrelle Revis. The club previously stated that they would like to upgrade their secondary in the offseason.

Despite public denials by the Raiders, rumors persist that the team is interested in making Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh its next lead man, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View:If this were to get done, it would be a rare good move by an organization that has made so many bad ones in the past 10 years. Harbaugh has had great success at a university where it has always been hard to field a competitive football team due to academic concerns, and were he to land in Oakland, a turnaround probably wouldn't be far behind. Consider it unlikely, but stay tuned.

Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has publicly said he would be interested in Oakland's head coaching job were Tom Cable not to be retained, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View:Rob, the brother of Jets head coach Rex Ryan, was the Raiders' defensive coordinator from 2004-2008. He is coming off of a horrible defensive season in Cleveland (the Browns were 31st in the league in average yards allowed per game), but is believed to have a good relationship with Raiders owner Al Davis, and would likely be a serious candidate for the job were it to open up. Stay tuned.
