Newsbreakers
September 8, 2008
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Nate Burleson's knee injury will cause him to miss the rest of the season.

Our View:Burleson had been primed to have a big year with Seattle already short on receivers. Courtney Taylor may be the best option in Seattle until Deion Branch can return. Logan Payne is worth a look, as well.

Nate Burleson sustained a sprained knee on Sunday against Buffalo, but the team does not believe his injury is serious, according to the Seattle Times. Burleson is yet to get the results of his MRI, but coach Mike Holmgren does not believe the injury is "long," referring to recovery time.

Our View:The team cannot afford to lose Burleson as the receiving corps is already thinned out by injuries. We will keep you posted on his status.
September 7, 2008
Wide receiver Nate Burleson has been diagnosed with a sprained knee, and will undergo an MRI tomorrow to determine the extent of the damage, according to the News Tribune.

Our View:His status is unclear. Burleson advised the Seattle media that he felt OK, but head coach Mike Holmgren doesn't appear to be as optimistic regarding Burleson's availability for next week. Stay tuned.
September 7, 2008
Wide receiver Nate Burleson compiled five receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown, but left the game against Buffalo in the third quarter with a left knee injury.

Our View:No word on the severity of the injury, but the Seahawks can ill afford anymore injuries to an already decimated receiver corps.
September 7, 2008
Wide receiver Nate Burleson has exited the game against Buffalo with a left knee injury.

Our View:The severity of the injury is not known at this time, but there was no contact on the play. Wide receiver Logan Payne has taken his place in the lineup.
September 5, 2008
With Bobby Engram and Deion Branch both out of action in Week 1, expect Nate Burleson to receive plenty of targets.

Our View:Burleson had 10 touchdowns last season on just 50 catches. He should match that total again this season if he remains healthy and is a good fantasy option for 2008.
August 20, 2008
Nate Burleson is no longer going to be returning punts for the Seahawks, even though he has had past success doing it, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:With the injury problems to the Seahawks wide receiver corp, Burleson is the No. 1 option there. Losing him to an injury on special teams is not an option, thus the move was made. Burleson has the potential to be a breakout player this season should he continue to be the No. 1 guy.
July 28, 2008
The Tacoma News Tribune reports that Nate Burleson has been fielding punts in training camp.

Our View:Burleson, 26, had 11 touchdowns last season, including two as a return man. He could become Matt Hasselback's top target in 2008 and should be drafted in nearly all leagues. However, he is mostly flying under the radar for now.
June 12, 2008
Wide receiver Nate Burleson has arguably been the best player in the Seattle Seahawks’ June mini-camp - focused, intent and consistently productive, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. Offensive coordinator Gil Haskell said he has seen signs of Burleson’s maturity and skills coalescing, like the deep touchdown pass he hauled in during practice Wednesday, beating Kelly Jennings by several steps.

Our View:With Deion Branch hindered by a knee injury and Bobby Engram holding out, Burleson is receiving extra repetitions as the No. 1 receiver in mini-camps. Burleson currently carries a late 10th round ADP, making him a potential value pick in 2008 fantasy drafts.
April 24, 2008
If the Seattle coaching staff had a complaint with wide receiver Nate Burleson last season, it was that he would produce when it wasn't expected, but disappear when he was needed. Burleson will open the team's first minicamp as the split end, and it's basically his job to lose, according to the Sporting News.

Our View:Burleson has been slow to assimilate the West Coast offense, but the light finally came on last season. He posted 4+ receptions in five of the last eight weeks, and posted six of his nine touchdown receptions during the second half of the season. D.J. Hackett is plying his trade in Carolina, and Deion Branch is expected to miss some time early in the season, providing Burleson with the opportunity to make a greater impact in 2008.
