Updating an earlier item, Larry Johnson says he expects to play this Sunday, according to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:"I'm going out there with the anticipation of playing," were his exact words. With Cedric Benson looking ever less likely by the hour, Johnson may indeed get a handful of carries against the Raiders on Sunday.

Larry Johnson says his adjustment to the Bengals offense has been "pretty good," according to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:Maybe that means he's relearned to hit holes and how to take the ball more than 2.9 yards per carry. Despite the team's claims that he is just an "insurance policy," Cedric Benson owners should be monitoring his every move.

Larry Johnson was getting a "nice work load" in practice on Thursday, according to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora.

Our View:Supposedly, the team is not expecting Cedric Benson to be able to play on Sunday. This means we could find out almost immediately if Cincinnati was telling the truth when it dismissed its signing of Johnson as nothing more than an "insurance policy."

Updating a previous report, Bengals beat writer Joe Reedy is reporting that running back Larry Johnson has signed a contract with the Bengals. The team is yet to make an official announcement, but the deal appears to be done.

Our View:Expect an announcement from the team very soon, as this deal has been finalized. Johnson doesn't seem likely to impact the offense much in Cincy, but don't be shocked if he impresses enough in practice to see more time than expected, especially if the injury to Cedric Benson is more serious than expected.

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Bengals have officially decided to sign Larry Johnson and are now trying to hammer out a deal.

Our View:Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said on Monday that Johnson would be no more than the team's fourth running back, and likely inactive on game days were he to be signed. It is little more than an insurance move, and Cedric Benson owners have nothing to be worried about for the moment.
