February 27, 2010 At least for the foreseeable future, the Bucs have no plans to release quarterback Byron Leftwich, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Our View:He didn't see enough snaps in 2009 to trigger a $3.5 million roster bonus, so the Bucs are lacking a compelling reason (other than his lack of skill) to release him. He will obviously be a fantasy non-factor next season. |

February 25, 2010 The Buccaneers are expected to release Byron Leftwich at some point in the near future, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Our View:Whether it's Josh Johnson or maybe a veteran they pursue in free agency, the Buccaneers are expected to open 2010 with someone else as their starting quarterback, so it should hardly come as a surprise that the team is looking to ditch Leftwich and the $3.5 million roster bonus that he'd be due. He should be able to latch on with another team, but he'll certainly have to sign for cheap and be willing to accept a backup role. |
