Brian Westbrook (concussion, ankle) is likely to miss the next three weeks, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:Wow. The word came straight from coach Andy Reid's mouth. If you were holding out hope for one more miraculous Westbrook comeback, you appear to be out of luck. Start scrounging the waiver wire for any potential replacement. With LeSean McCoy almost surely already owned, you will have to dig deep.
November 18, 2009
ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that Eagles' running back Brian Westbrook has already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bears. The team will have a better idea on Westbrook's future after he meets with concussion specialists today.

Our View:Westbrook is likely going to miss much more than this week, but the team isn't wasting any time ruling him out. There should be more updates on his status later today or early tomorrow, so stay tuned.
November 17, 2009
Eagles' running back Brian Westbrook is scheduled to meet with a concussion specialist this week to determine if and when he can resume playing, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View:There has been plenty of speculation on Westbrook's status, but we should know more after this meeting. He isn't going to play this week, and it remains a very realistic possibility that he could be done for the season and possibly contemplating retirement. LeSean McCoy will take over as the featured back in the Eagles' offense.
November 15, 2009
There is speculation that Brian Westbrook could be on the shelf for an extended period of time after suffering another concussion today against San Diego, according to NFL.com.

Our View:There is also belief that the star running back could be done for the remainder of the year. The Eagles will be very cautious with Westbrook, and the fantasy stock of rookie LeSean McCoy looks to be pointed up.
November 15, 2009
Brian Westbrook exited the game at San Diego in the fourth quarter with a concussion.

Our View:Definitely not good news for Westbrook, who has suffered two concussions in the last three weeks. Upgrade LeSean McCoy going forward, and we will provide updates as they hit the newswire.
November 15, 2009
Verifying an earlier report, running back Brian Westbrook is active for today's afternoon tilt at San Diego.

Our View:Westbrook will share carries with rookie LeSean McCoy, and will reportedly be on a 12-15 snap count.
November 15, 2009
Brian Westbrook will be involved in 12-15 plays this afternoon at San Diego, according to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio.

Our View:We don't really like reports like these, as it's difficult to put an exact snap count on a player. But, given that he's coming back from a concussion, we expect a committee approach with LeSean McCoy.
November 14, 2009
The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that Eagles' running back Brian Westbrook will play Sunday against the Chargers. Head coach Andy Reid was asked to classify Westbrook's status for the game, and he responded by answering "playing."

Our View:It was assumed that Westbrook would be able to go this week, but it's nice to know for sure ahead of time. Don't be shocked if the team splits carries between Westbrook and LeSean McCoy, as they will probably ease the veteran back into action.
November 13, 2009
Profootbaltalk reports that Brian Westbrook is probable to play on Sunday against the Chargers. He's been a full participant in practice for the past two days.

Our View:Westbrook will get the start, limiting rookie LeSean McCoy's value for this weekend. Westbrook has not played since Week 7 due to a concussion. He is averaging less than 15 touches per game this season.
November 13, 2009
Adam Caplan of Scout.com reports that Brian Westbrook (ankle, concussion) is practicing on Friday.

Our View:The fact that he's practicing today likely means that his ankle did not severely swell up after practicing on it on Thursday. He'll likely be a game-time decision against the Chargers, but will probably be safe to start against their porous run defense.
November 12, 2009
Jeff McLance reports via Twitter that banged up running back Brian Westbrook (ankle) participated in Thursday morning's walk-through and will practice indoors.

Our View:This is a big day in regards to determining if Westbrook will be healthy enough to play in Week 10. If he can get through the entire practice and the ankle doesn't swell up the next day, he'll have a good shot at playing against the Chargers. If there are complications to the ankle or anything related to the concussion he previously suffered expect the Eagles to give the ball to LeSean McCoy instead. As of right now, consider Westbrook to be questionable at best.
November 11, 2009
Eagles' running back Brian Westbrook will not practice on Wednesday due to his sore ankle, according to the Twitter page of beat writer Jeff McLane. Westbrook is expected to return Thursday if his ankle is feeling better.

Our View:Westbrook is also coming off a fairly serious concussion, so he is pretty beat up right now. Fantasy owners will want to monitor his progress throughout the week, but it is starting to looks like LeSean McCoy might be the better option this week.
November 10, 2009
In addition to dealing with poss-concussion symptoms, running back Brian Westbrook is also experiencing pain in his surgically repaired ankle, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:After years of being injury prone, Westbrook might be fully breaking down at this point. He sounds very unlikely to suit up this weekend, and the Eagles could be beginning to ease LeSean McCoy into a permanent feature role. That being said, Westrbook's status changes almost daily, so he should by no means be considered a sure-thing not to play this weekend.
November 9, 2009
Brian Westbrook (post concussion symptoms) is expected to return to Eagles practice on Wednesday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:He has been out the past two games. Even if he returns this weekend, the Eagles have appeared disinterested, at best, in the run of late, and he can't be expected to have a big game coming off of his concussion.
November 8, 2009
Brian Westbrook has been ruled out for today's game, according to the NFL Network.

Our View:Westbrook is recovering from a concussion, and the Eagles did not deem him fit to play. Rookie LeSean McCoy will start at running back against Dallas, who are ranked 13th in run defense.
November 6, 2009
Brian Westbrook (concussion) was given practice off on Friday and is listed as questionable in the Eagles injury report, according to Adam Caplan. However, it is believed that he is slated to play this Sunday against the Cowboys.

Our View:Even if he does play, we're not sure how much the Eagles will rely on him. A hard hit could be devastating to Westbrook, so remain cautious and consider other options.
November 5, 2009
Brian Westbrook practiced for the second straight day on Thursday, according to beat writer Brian Seltzer. Westbrook is expected to return to action this week.

Our View:Westbrook is almost surely going to play this week, and he looks recovered from his concussion that kept him out last week. Fantasy owners should feel confident with him in the lineup, as he will be at or close to 100 percent at game time.
November 4, 2009
The National Football Post reports that Eagles running back Brian Westbrook is expected to play Week 9 against the Cowboys.

Our View:Coach Andy Reid has declared Westbrook available for action against Dallas and says that the elite back is no longer suffering from symptoms related to the concussion that held him out of the lineup in Week 8. He has returned to practice and should be fine to employ in fantasy lineups once again. In his career against the Cowboys, he has averaged 4.1 yards per carry and has racked up seven touchdowns.
November 2, 2009
Brian Westbrook (concussion) is expected to resume practicing on Wednesday, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Only non-contact drills, however. For now, consider him questionable for this Sunday against the Cowboys.
November 1, 2009
Brian Westbrook (concussion) is still experiencing headaches, which led to him being inactive today against the New York Giants, according to Jay Glazer's twitter page.

Our View:Westbrook worked out this morning, but had a headache afterwards leading to the decision to inactivate the veteran runner. This is obviously not a good sign, and we expect him to be questionable for Week 9 when the Eagles host Dallas.
November 1, 2009
Week 8 inactives: QB Kevin Kolb (3rd), RB Brian Westbrook, DB Dmitri Patterson, OG Max Jean-Gilles, WR Kevin Curtis, DE Victor Abiamiri, and FS Macho Harris.

Our View:RB LeSean McCoy will start in place of Westbrook, who is out due to a concussion. WR Jeremy Maclin will continue to start for Kevin Curtis, who is out again due to a knee ailment. Also, LT Jason Peters (ankle, knee) and WR DeSean Jackson (foot) are active and will start. On defense, FS Macho Harris is out and is expected to be replaced in the starting lineup by Sean Jones.
November 1, 2009
Earlier EPSN's Adam Schefter reported that Brian Westbrook (concussion) is not expected to play today, and Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network stated he definitely will not play today on his twitter page.

Our View:We never expected the oft-injured Westbrook to play this week, but this report seems to solidify our thoughts. The official inactive lists will be dropping shortly, but look for LeSean McCoy to be the Eagles workhouse back today against the G-Men.
November 1, 2009
Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Eagles' running back Brian Westbrook is not expected to play today due to a concussion. LeSean McCoy is expected to carry the load for the Eagles against the Giants.

Our View:Schefter says there is a chance that things could change before game-time, but for now consider Westbrook out. McCoy has a tough match-up against the Giants today, but he should get a vast majority of the carries.
October 30, 2009
Brian Westbrook (concussion) is officially listed as questionable for Week 8. He did not practice this week. "It's going to end up being a game day decision," head coach Andy Reid tells the team's official web site. "As long as he's okayed and he's cleared, then he's ok... I know he wants to play but we have to listen to the doctors."

Our View:The Eagles continue to leave the door open, but we've been counting Westbrook out for a few days. LeSean McCoy is in line to start and carry the load in a tough tilt against the Giants.
October 30, 2009
Brian Westbrook (recovery from concussion) is not expected to play this weekend, according to the Wilmington News Journal.

Our View:Officially he's a game-time decision, but teams have become less and less inclined to fool around with concussions. Barring something very unforeseen happening, LeSean McCoy will be the Eagles' feature back against the Giants this weekend.
October 29, 2009
Eagles' beat writer Brian Seltzer is reporting that Brian Westbrook is scheduled to begin aerobic workouts on Friday now that his headaches have subsided. Westbrook will still be a game-time decision for this week's contest.

Our View:It's hard to believe that Westbrook will go this week without a real practice session coming off a concussion, but he is still not being ruled out. Westbrook owners will have to check back Sunday morning, but you should have another option ready. LeSean McCoy owners will also want to keep tabs on this situation, as he might be worth a start if Westbrook is ruled out, although the match-up against the Giants isn't a great one.
October 28, 2009
According to Eagles' beat writer Jeff McLane, running back Brian Westbrook will likely be a game-time decision this week due to a concussion. Tests are still being conducted on Westbrook at this time, and the team will know more later in the week.

Our View:Concussions are nasty injuries, so it will be interesting to see what happens with Westbrook this week. He isn't practicing today, so owners should continue to check back as the week progresses for updates on his status.
October 27, 2009
"There's a good chance" that Brian Westbrook (concussion) will not be able to play in Week 8, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:He was kneed in the head by London Fletcher in the first quarter of the team's win over Washington on Monday night. While Westbrook couldn't help this one, it's no surprise to see him injured. Rookie LeSean McCoy figures to get the bulk of the carries this weekend should Westbrook be out.
October 26, 2009
Brian Westbrook left Monday night's game in the first quarter with a head injury. He was replaced by LeSean McCoy and is not expected to return.

Our View:Westbrook took a shot to the head from Redskins' linebacker London Fletcher, and he went to the locker-room as soon as he left the field. Early reports indicate he has a concussion, but he will know more after the game. If you were relying on Westbrook to come through big tonight, it looks like you are out of luck.
October 23, 2009
Brian Westbrook fully practiced for the second straight day Friday, according to the Eagles' official website.

Our View:Westbrook is dealing with an ankle injury, but should be ready to go for Monday night's battle at Washington.
October 22, 2009
Eagles' beat writer Brian Seltzer is reporting that running back Brian Westbrook wants to carry the load for the team going forward. Westbrook feels like he will be more effective if the team gets rid of his rotation with LeSean McCoy.

Our View:Westbrook owners have been clamoring for this since he came back from injury, and it looks like it could be happening. Obviously, Westbrook's productivity should increase if he gets more touches, but the injury risk will be more prevalent. His stock will rise as long as he stays healthy.
October 18, 2009
Brian Westbrook rushed six times for 50 yards and caught nine passes for 91 yards in a Week 6 loss to the Raiders.

Our View:Westbrook's 141 total yards is nothing to sneeze at, but fantasy owners would have loved to see him dart across the goal line. The Eagles didn't run much in the game (as witnessed by his meager six carries), but his legs looked solid and he was able to break off big plays. He should put up bigger numbers against the Redskins next week.
October 13, 2009
Head coach Andy Reid stated that Brian Westbrook and rookie LeSean McCoy will continue to share playing time in the Eagles' backfield, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View:Westbrook is recovering from a foot ailment, and Reid will continue to split the workload until the veteran feels good again. McCoy saw more action than Westbrook in Week 5, and is worth targeting if dangling on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues - especially if you have Westbrook. The timeshare will also result in less punishment for Westbrook, who turned 30 in September.
October 9, 2009
PhillyBurbs.com is reporting that Brian Westbrook will likely get most of the work for the team going forward despite the claim by Andy Reid that he will use a running back rotation with Westbrook and rookie LeSean McCoy. When asked what he thought about the situation, McCoy was quoted as saying: "He'll probably get most of the action."

Our View:If Westbrook is healthy enough to play, there is little doubt that he will get a vast majority of the touches out of the backfield for the team. McCoy will get some opportunity, but expect Westbrook to be the man if he is in uniform. With Westbrook's injury history, it is still a good idea to keep McCoy rostered just in case.
October 7, 2009
Brian Westbrook "should" play this Sunday, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:The word came straight from the mouth of Eagles coach Andy Reid. In the two games Westrbook has played in this season, he's carried the ball 26 times for 116 yards and no touchdowns. He has 22 receiving yards.
October 5, 2009
Brian Westbrook (ankle) participated in Eagles practice on Monday, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:The Eagles were practicing Monday because they are coming off a bye week. There's little doubt that Westbrook will play on Sunday against Tampa Bay, but he is expected to be spelled often by talented rookie LeSean McCoy.
September 28, 2009
According to Eagles' beat writer Brian Seltzer, the Eagles will use a running back rotation going forward this season. The team plans to use both Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy as long as both players are healthy.

Our View:Westbrook is expected to return after the team's bye this week, but McCoy impressed enough to get himself into the rotation. This shouldn't hurt Westbrook's value too much, and it could actually help keep him healthy by limiting his carries a bit.
September 27, 2009
Brian Westbrook (ankle) is expected to return to the lineup after the Eagles' Week 4 bye. "I think this week coming up will be a good week for him to recover, and I'll think he'll be back after the bye week," head coach Andy Reid informs the team's official web site.

Our View:We expected Westbrook to play in Week 3, but given that the Eagles had a bye ahead, it's not overly surprising that they kept him on the sidelines. We fully expect the stud back to be ready for Week 5.
September 27, 2009
Brian Westbrook is inactive for today's game against Kansas City, according to the NFL Network

Our View:It appears that Westy didn't feel comfortable in pre-game warmups, so LeSean McCoy will get his first NFL start, and should be a good play against a suspect Kansas City defense.
September 27, 2009
Brian Westbrook (knee) is expected to start on Sunday against Kansas City, according to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network.

Our View:Westy did not participate in practice this week, but he has played in the past under the same circumstances. He is a bit of a risky play this week, as the Eagles could blowout the Chiefs and Westbrook could be rested later in the contest.
September 25, 2009
Brian Westbrook (knee) did not practice on Friday, and is listed as questionable for this Sunday, according to Adam Caplan of Scout.com.

Our View:Sure as sunrise, Westbrook sitting out today will be a prelude to him playing on Sunday.
September 24, 2009
Brian Westbrook (knee) again missed practice on Thursday, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:Same old story. The injury has never been considered serious enough to keep him out this Sunday. He will go, but as usual, not be 100 percent.
September 23, 2009
According to the Twitter page of Eagles' beat writer Jeff McLane, running back Brian Westbrook has seen the swelling in his injured knee subside over the last few days. Coach Andy Reid seems confident that Westbrook will be able to play in the team's Week 3 game.

Our View:The knee injury was never believed to be serious, but it would be great news for the Eagles if Westbrook can play at full speed this week. The injury history is a concern, but as long as he is healthy he should be a very good fantasy back.
September 20, 2009
Brian Westbrook's ankle injury is not believed to be a serious one and coach Andy Reid did not believed it was a high-ankle sprain, according to NFL.com. "It's a little sore," Westbrook said. "I think I probably tweaked it a little bit, probably in the third quarter at some point. Right now it's a little tender and sore."

Our View:This type of note is fully expected when it comes to Westbrook. He's only missed four games over the last three seasons, but he is consistently limited in practice, leaves games early, and is a fixture on the injury report.
September 20, 2009
Brian Westbrook sustained a sprained right ankle in today's battle with the Saints.

Our View:The severity of the injury is yet to be determined, but rookie LeSean McCoy is worth targeting on the waiver wire if available, especially if you have Westbrook.
September 18, 2009
Eagles' beat writer Brian Seltzer is reporting on his Twitter page that running back Brian Westbrook has practiced fully each of the last three days. Westbrook appears fully healed from the knee soreness that slowed him last week.

Our View:Westbrook has reportedly looked very good this week, but he needs to prove he can stay healthy over a period of time before we buy in. He looks like an excellent fantasy play right now, but be prepared for the inevitable injury that will eventually hit him.
September 15, 2009
After the Eagles declined an option they had, Brian Westbrook will become a free agent after the 2010 season, according to ESPN.

Our View:Interesting. Famously injury prone and at a point in his career in which many running backs usually begin to go downhill, Westbrook will now likely be more motivated than ever to post big numbers this year and next. Though at age 30, these could also end up being his final two seasons, rather than a prelude to a payday.
September 13, 2009
Running back Brian Westbrook compiled 13 carries for 64 yards, and chipped in three receptions for eight yards and a score in the Week 1 victory over Carolina.

Our View:Westbrook, who looked nimble on several runs, averaged 4.9 yards per carry, and more importantly made it through the contest healthy.
September 10, 2009
The Philadelphia Eagles have place running back Brian Westbrook on the injury report with a knee injury, according to the Twitter page of Eagles' beat writer Jeffery McLane. Westbrook still practiced fully on Thursday and is expected to be ready to go for the team's opener this weekend.

Our View:This isn't a big surprise, and it shouldn't worry anyone all that much. Westbrook isn't 100 percent, but he will play this weekend and will see plenty of snaps. If you have him, play him.
September 10, 2009
Eagles' beat writer Brain Seltzer is reporting on his Twitter page that offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg confirmed on Thursday that running back Brian Westbrook will have his touches monitored on Sunday. Westbrook is still recovering from ankle surgery.

Our View:Westbrook will still get his share of touches, but expect rookie LeSean McCoy to get some extended looks as well. The Eagles need to keep Westbrook healthy for the entire season, and splitting carries with the rookie looks like a good way to do that.
August 27, 2009
Despite being declared 100 percent healthy by the team, Brian Westbrook (recovery from ankle surgery) will not play in the Eagles' preseason game against the Jaguars on Thursday, according to CourierPostOnline.com.

Our View:It is solely a precaution to keep the famously creaky Westbrook healthy for Week 1. He is not likely to play in the team's final preseason game next week, as well.
August 25, 2009
Adam Caplan (Scout.com) tweets that Eagles coach Andy Reid has indicated that Brian Westbrook will play in Thursday's preseason game. He is recovering from offseason knee and ankle surgeries.

Our View:Westbrook appears on course to start in Week 1 for the Eagles. Injury concerns have dogged him over the past three seasons, but he has routinely produced exceptional numbers, particularly in PPR formats. Expect his ADP to inch higher with this news.
August 24, 2009
Brian Westbrook reportedly looked good during Monday's practice with the Eagles, according to Adam Caplan's (Scout.com) twitter page. He notably made sharp cuts.

Our View:This is encouraging, but Westbrook remains a risky fantasy pick. Be sure to handcuff rookie LeSean McCoy for insurance if you decide to draft Westbrook, who will turn 30 next month.
August 17, 2009
Brian Westbrook fully practiced with the Eagles Monday, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. He had been participating in individual and installation drills over the previous two days as he recovers from offseason ankle surgery.

Our View:This is encouraging news, but Westbrook remains a risky fantasy prospect. With that said, rookie LeSean McCoy is an essential handcuff for fantasy owners that roll the dice on Westbrook.
August 15, 2009
Battling both knee and ankle injuries, running back Brian Westbrook practiced for the first time this training camp on Saturday, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View:He will be a "limited" practice participant on Saturday, but "presumably will do more tomorrow, when he and the team are scheduled for a full-pads workout." Stay tuned.
August 13, 2009
The Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that Eagles' running back Brian Westbrook should be ready to resume practicing next week. Westbrook will not play in the team's first preseason game due to his recovery from ankle surgery.

Our View:The Eagles would love to see Westbrook be able to go next week, and it looks like they will get their wish. Westbrook still figures to be a first-round fantasy pick this season, but keep in mind that he is coming off surgery and he has an injury history. If you take Westbrook, you should probably try to get LeSean McCoy as a handcuff.
August 12, 2009
According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Philadelphia Eagles have announced that several players will not be available for the team's first preseason game Thursday night. The list includes Brian Westbrook, Stacy Andrews, Shawn Andrews, Todd Herremans, Victor Abiamiri, Trent Cole, Kevin Kolb, Cornelius Ingram, Trevor Laws, and Matt Schobel.

Our View:That is a laundry list of unavailable players, but on the bright side the Eagles will get a good look at a bunch of guys who aren't going to be starters. The Eagles are being considered the favorites in the NFC by many football people, but they will have to get and stay healthy if they are going to live up to expectations.
August 5, 2009
According to Brian Seltzer on Twitter, Brian Westbrook was cutting and running at full speed in practice on Wednesday.

Our View:Westbrook is still dealing with knee and ankle injuries, but looks close to being 100 percent. He will likely join team drills next week, barring any setbacks. Assuming his health is not an issue, he will likely go in the first round of fantasy drafts again this season.
August 1, 2009
Brian Westbrook appears to be "a little ahead of schedule" as he rehabs following right ankle surgery, head coach Andy Reid informs the Philadelphia Inquirer. Westbrook could return to practice in mid-August.

Our View:Fantasy owners should prepare themselves for the likely case that we won't see Westbrook play in a preseason game. If he returns to practice by mid-August, though, he should be able to solidify his risky fantasy value.
July 26, 2009
Brian Westbrook (ankle) could resume practicing by the middle of next month, according to Adam Caplan of Scout.com.

Our View:Believe this when you see it. Westbrook struggled with injury for most of 2008, and has become increasingly fragile as he's aged. It sounds conceivable that he could now at least be ready for week one, but don't expect anything close to resembling vintage Westbrook.
July 21, 2009
According to FoxSports.com, Brian Westbrook will no longer handle goal line duties for the Eagles this season.

Our View:Westbrook is looking like a more perilous pick by the day. He's expected to miss training camp, and likely won't start running until September. He definitely shouldn't go undrafted, just know that the higher you take him, the riskier it is.
July 13, 2009
Eagles coach Andy Reid might sign a veteran running back like Warrick Dunn as an insurance policy on the injury-prone Brian Westbrook, according to USA Today.

Our View:Westbrook is expected to be fine for the beginning of 2009, but has already had ankle "clean-up" surgery this offseason, and has never played in all 16 games in seven NFL seasons. He is also going to turn 30 on September 2, not a good age for running backs. It might not be the worst thing in the world to let him fall a little bit in your draft.
June 5, 2009
PhiladelphiaEagles.com is reporting that Eagles' head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder said Friday that there is no timetable set for Brian Westbrook's return after ankle surgery. Burkholder went on to say that Westbrook is "doing good" and he should be ready for the start of the regular season.

Our View:This is some encouraging news after it was reported that the injury was more serious than originally thought. It sounds like the training staff sees this as fairly minor, so Westbrook should be ready to go for the start of the season.
June 4, 2009
A source claims that Brian Westbrook's ankle surgery is more serious than the Eagles are indicating, according to Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer. The undisclosed source said, I am just concerned that it is being underplayed. It is a lot more than a little spur and it is much more than the knee arthroscopy he had in February." Westbrook will have surgery on Friday.

Our View:The Eagles also stated that they expect Westbrook to be good to go for Week 1 of the regular season. Rookie LeSean McCoy looks to be a must-have handcuff for 2009 if you decide to take a chance on Westbrook being healthy. Westbrook will turn 30 in September, and is yet to play a full 16-game slate.
June 3, 2009
Updating previous reports, Brian Westbrook will have surgery on his right ankle to clean up bone spurs in the joint, according to ESPN.com. The surgery could sideline him well into training camp and other reports list him out until Week 1 of the NFL season. His agent, however, considered the operation a minor procedure. Westbrook also had surgery on his left knee three months ago.

Our View:This is the same ankle that bothered him throughout 2008, and the team is hoping that the procedure will eliminate the problem in the upcoming season. It may be the beginning of the end for Westbrook, who turns 30 in September. We fully expect him to remain the primary running back for the Eagles, but the second round selection of running back LeSean McCoy is starting to look even better than originally perceived.
June 3, 2009
Comcast SportsNet is now reporting that not only will Brian Westbrook miss Eagles OTAs, but that he is out until Week 1 of the regular season at the "earliest." No word yet from the Eagles.

Our View:This clouds Westbrook's draft status while increasing both LeSean McCoy's and Lorenzo Booker's. For now, it is unclear exactly when he will be back, and any prospective owner would be wise to take a wait-and-see approach with the Eagles' star running back.
June 3, 2009
Updating a previous report, Brian Westbrook is sitting out his second practice in a row with a sore ankle, according to philadelphiaeagles.com.

Our View:Westbrook will miss Wednesday's practice and be examined by a team doctor. Apparently he injured the same ankle in a game last September, but it's uncertain if the current injury stemmed from that.
June 2, 2009
According to PhiladelphiaEagles.com, a sore ankle kept all-pro running back Brian Westbrook out of Eagles organized team activities on Tuesday.

Our View:Coach Andy Reid said the injury is not serious and gave no indication that it was related to Westbrook's knee problems from last season. As of now, he should be ready to go for training camp.
May 2, 2009
Brian Westbrook did not talk to the media on Friday, but head coach Andy Reid tells the Philadelphia Inquirer that the running back "moved around well." Westbrook played through a severe right ankle sprain and a sore left knee in 2008. He had the knee scoped after the season. The Eagles plan to limit his mini-camp reps.

Our View:It's no mystery to fantasy owners that Westbrook is an injury risk, as he misses at least one game on an annual basis. The Eagles wisely drafted LeSean McCoy in the second round, and the rookie will be asked to replace Correll Buckhalter and keep Westbrook fresh. Westbrook still has a ton of potential, but he also carries obvious red flags.
April 9, 2009
Brian Westbrook noted that he would not mind if the Eagles drafted a running back to complement him and help carry the workload, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Our View:The Eagles could target Knowshon Moreno (Georgia) or LeSean McCoy (Pittsburgh) with pick No. 21 or 28 in the first round. Small-school star Donald Brown of Connecticut could also be on their radar. The team needs to replace Correll Buckhalter as the No. 2 back following his departure to Denver.
April 8, 2009
Brian Westbrook expects to be pain-free for the 2009 campaign after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in the offseason, according to the Eagles' official team website. He said, "I am feeling good. I had pain in my knee for a few years now. I am excited to play football pain-free. When you are part of the NFL, you have to play hurt sometimes. You just try to help your team as much as possible."

Our View:This is encouraging news, but the Eagles still need to find a new No. 2 running back to complement Westbrook following the departure of Correll Buckhalter to Denver. The club could address the need in the upcoming draft.
March 26, 2009
Eagles head coach Andy Reid still thinks running back Brian Westbrook, at age 30, will be able to handle the full load of work, though he admits he would like to have a few running backs on the roster get carries, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View:The team lost Correll Buckhalter to the Broncos, and so Lorenzo Booker is the only other experienced runner on the team, though they did sign Leonard Weaver at fullback, and he should get some touches. It is widely expected that the team will address the running back position at some point fairly early in the draft.

Brian Westbrook is fine following a minor arthroscopic procedure on his left knee around a month ago, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View:It was merely a cleanup procedure, and Westbrook will be good to go for minicamps.
January 31, 2009
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Eagles running back Brian Westbrook's ailing knee condition may require minor offseason surgery. The paper cites a source that said Saturday doctors are trying to determine the source of the irritation and that surgery may not be needed at all.

Our View:Save for a 71-yard touchdown reception that sealed Philadelphia's wild-card win over Minnesota, Westbrook was obviously slowed by the knee in the postseason. Over three games, Westbrook, 30, rushed for 119 yards on 50 carries and caught seven passes for 119 yards.
January 18, 2009
Brian Westbrook carried the ball 12 times for 45 yards and caught two passes for 26 yards as the Eagles were eliminated from the playoffs by the Cardinals in the NFC Championship game.

Our View:Westbrook clearly wasn't at his best on this day, but it certainly didn't help that the Eagles fell behind early, 24-6 at halftime, forcing them to open up the attack. Still, though he plays through injuries, he often lacked his typical burst this season and that is a slight concern heading into 2009.
January 17, 2009
Brian Westbrook commented on his ailing knee, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Westbrook said, "My knee's fine. I think it hasn't been said, but a lot of times throughout games when you have injuries, you're going to tweak your injury . This wasn't the only game that I tweaked my knee."

Our View:Westbrook looks to be fine for Sunday's NFC title game at Arizona. He notably rushed for 110 yards with four total touchdowns (two rushing, two receiving) against the Cardinals back in Week 13, when the Eagles won 48-20.
January 16, 2009
Brian Westbrook practiced partially in Friday's practice and is probable for Sunday's NFC title game against the Cardinals, according to NFL.com. He is nursing a knee ailment.

Our View:He is expected to start Sunday, and should be able to handle a full workload as he tries to lead the Eagles back to the Super Bowl.
January 15, 2009
ProFootballTalk.com reports that Brian Westbrook said on NFL Live that the status of his knee has been “blown out of proportion.”

Our View:Westbrook has not practiced this week, but that's becoming standard procedure for him this season. He seems fairly confident that he will be ready to go against the Cardinals this week. He has averaged less than two yards per carry in the playoffs, but he remains very effective in the passing game.
January 15, 2009
Brian Westbrook did not practice today while nursing his sore knee, according to NFL.com.

Our View:Westbrook still expects to play Sunday in the NFC Championship at Arizona.
January 14, 2009
Brian Westbrook re-injured his left knee in last weekend's win over the Giants, but expects to play in Sunday's NFC Championship at Arizona, according to ESPN.

Our View:He is dealing with some extra swelling in his knee and will not practice today, but will do extra work running in the pool to help the muscles around his knee "fire up" a little bit better. He should be good to go for Sunday with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.
January 13, 2009
The Philadelphia Daily News reports that Brian Westbrook is downplaying the notion his swollen knee is the main factor in his limited postseason production, instead attributing the low numbers to the strong efforts of opposing defenses. "We faced a very good defense...one of the better defensive lines in the league," Westbrook said Monday night on his radio show. "I think they paid extra attention to me, which allowed opportunities for other players...I don't feel injuries have had much to do with my production."

Our View:In two playoff games, Westbrook has carried the ball 38 times for 74 yards. The persistent knee problem has made him a regular spectator at practice over the course of the last few weeks.
January 12, 2009
Brian Westbrook fared well against the Cardinals back in Week 13 as he rushed 22 times for 110 yards and two touchdowns and caught three passes for 20 yards and two more scores. The Eagles won 48-20 at home.

Our View:Westbrook will be aiming for another solid outing this weekend when the Cardinals host the Eagles in the NFC Championship game. The Eagles racked up 437 yards offensively in the previous meetting.
January 11, 2009
The Eagles' inactives for Sunday's game against the Giants are QB A.J. Feeley, RB Lorenzo Booker, WR Greg Lewis, TE Matt Schobel, CB Dimitri Patterson, LB Joe Mays, and DE Bryan Smith. Brian Westbrook is active after missing some practice time this week with a sore knee.

Our View:You would probably have to break Westbrook's leg to keep him out of this game. He is the most important aspect of the Eagles offense.
January 9, 2009
Brian Westbrook has returned to practice Friday after sitting out the previous two days while resting his sore knee, according to NFL.com.

Our View:He is probable and is expected to be fine for Sunday's divisional playoff game against the Giants at the Meadowlands. Westbrook broke loose for 203 total yards and two touchdowns against the defending champs back in Week 14 (the Eagles won 20-14).
January 8, 2009
Brian Westbrook did not practice Thursday for the second straight day while nursing his sore knee, according to NFL.com.

Our View:Westbrook should still be ready for Sunday's game at the Meadowlands, and will be counted on by the Eagles in their bid to advance to the NFC Championship, as the elite back broke loose for 203 total yards and two touchdowns against the Giants back in Week 14 (the Eagles won 20-14).
January 7, 2009
According to the Miami Herald, Eagles do-it-all back Brian Westbrook is currently listed as questionable for Sunday's game in New York.

Our View:Westbrook, with a host of other ailing starters, sat out practice Wednesday to rest a nagging knee injury. Though his status reads "questionable," there's virtually no way in hell Westbrook misses the Giants game.
January 7, 2009
Brian Westbrook did not practice Wednesday while nursing his sore knee, according to the Eagles' official website.

Our View:The elite running back is still expected to be ready for Sunday's divisional playoff game against the Giants. Westbrook memorably broke loose for 203 total yards and two touchdowns against the defending champs back in Week 14, when the Eagles won 20-14.
January 5, 2009
Brian Westbrook is still dealing with a sore knee, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View:As usual, Westbrook will be limited in practice during the week, and is expected to play Sunday against the Giants at the Meadowlands. Westbrook will be counted on by the Eagles in their bid to advance to the NFC Championship, as the elite back broke loose for 203 total yards and two touchdowns against the defending champs back in Week 14 (the Eagles won 20-14).
January 4, 2009
Brian Westbrook was not able to get much going on the ground, but he did break free for a 71-yard touchdown off of a screen pass to help Philadelphia beat Minnesota 26-14 on Sunday. He carried the ball 20 times for 38 yards and totaled 83 yards on three catches.

Our View:Once again, Westbrook proves his fantasy value through the passing game. His ankle and knee did not seem to be a factor in the win.
January 3, 2009
Because the Eagles will play on turf in Minnesota, it may limit how much Brian Westbrook will be able to do, according to PhiladelphiaEagles.com.

Our View:Westbrook has been battling injuries to both his knee and ankle, but he still has been one of the top performers in the NFL. Correll Buckhalter will likely see some carries.
January 2, 2009
Brian Westbrook was limited in practice Friday while nursing his knee and ankle ailments, and is questionable for Sunday's playoff game at Minnesota, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:He should be ready to go for Sunday and carry the Eagles' offense against one of the top run defenses in the NFL.
