June 5, 2009 Our View:This is some encouraging news after it was reported that the injury was more serious than originally thought. It sounds like the training staff sees this as fairly minor, so Westbrook should be ready to go for the start of the season. |

June 4, 2009 A source claims that Brian Westbrook's ankle surgery is more serious than the Eagles are indicating, according to Bob Brookover of the Our View:The Eagles also stated that they expect Westbrook to be good to go for Week 1 of the regular season. Rookie LeSean McCoy looks to be a must-have handcuff for 2009 if you decide to take a chance on Westbrook being healthy. Westbrook will turn 30 in September, and is yet to play a full 16-game slate. |

June 3, 2009 Updating previous reports, Brian Westbrook will have surgery on his right ankle to clean up bone spurs in the joint, according to Our View:This is the same ankle that bothered him throughout 2008, and the team is hoping that the procedure will eliminate the problem in the upcoming season. It may be the beginning of the end for Westbrook, who turns 30 in September. We fully expect him to remain the primary running back for the Eagles, but the second round selection of running back LeSean McCoy is starting to look even better than originally perceived. |

Apparently he injured the same ankle in a game last September, but it's uncertain if the current injury stemmed from that. |
