Newsbreakers
September 23, 2009
Deion Branch (hamstring) had a rare full day of practice on Wednesday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View:It looks like he will actually play against the Bears this weekend. Branch has yet to play in 2009, and his days of fantasy relevance are long behind him.
September 22, 2009
The Tacoma News-Tribune is reporting that Seahawks' wide receiver Deion Branch is expected to practice fully on Wednesday. Branch has missed the team's first two games due to a hamstring injury.

Our View:Branch should be good to go for Week 3 barring a setback this week at practice, and he figures to be the team's third receiver when he comes back. He won't have much fantasy value this season, but his veteran presence should help the team.
September 20, 2009
Coach Jim Mora indicated on Sunday that wide receiver Deion Branch would return in Week 3, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. He has not played in the Seahawks first two games due to a hamstring injury.

Our View:Branch will be behind both T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Nate Burleson and perhaps others once he does return. He's not worth much consideration next week against the Bears.
September 18, 2009
Deion Branch was limited in practice for the third straight day Friday while nursing a hamstring ailment, according to the Seattle Times. He is questionable for Week 2.

Our View:Branch missed the season opener, and would not be worth consideration for fantasy lineups if deemed fit to play Sunday against the 49ers, who are coming off a big upset win over the Cardinals.
September 17, 2009
The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that Deion Branch was again limited by balky hamstring in practice on Thursday.

Our View:This is still a step up from him missing practice on Wednesday. If and when he is declared healthy (a big if with the increasingly creaky Branch), we will let you know.
September 16, 2009
Deion Branch (hamstring) missed practice again on Wednesday, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:Don't hold out hope that Branch, who has missed 15 games the past three seasons with injury, will get better in time for Sunday. He has seen his number of receptions drop each of the past four seasons (all the way down to 30 in 2008), and is no longer a viable option in almost any format, at least until his body can get some semblance of good health.
September 13, 2009
Week 1 inactives: WR Deion Branch, CB Travis Fisher, C Chris Spencer, T Walter Jones, DT Red Bryant, DT Michael Bennett and DE Derek Walker.

Our View:Rookie Deon Butler will handle the slot duties for Branch, who is out with a hamstring injury. The Seahawks are also without Jones and Spencer, leaving their offensive line at less than full strength.
September 12, 2009
Deion Branch (hamstring) is a game-time decision for Sunday, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Our View:Branch has missed three straight practices, and won't have much of an impact on the game even should he suit up. He is not a fantasy option.
September 11, 2009
Deion Branch (hamstring) missed practice for the third straight day on Friday, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:He is officially listed as questionable for Sunday. He is too injury prone to have any real fantasy value, and probably isn't a good fit for your team.
September 10, 2009
According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Deion Branch missed another practice on Thursday due to a nagging hamstring issue.

Our View:The Seahawks expect Branch to be ready to go on Sunday, but he likely won't be 100 percent and isn't even guaranteed to start over rookie Deon Butler. If you own Branch, you'll likely want to leave him on your bench.
September 9, 2009
Deion Branch missed practice with a hamstring injury on Wednesday, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:Deon Butler is the most likely candidate to start this Sunday if Branch cannot go, though there have been no indications that he will sit out.
September 8, 2009
The Tacoma News Tribune is reporting that the Seattle Seahawks used wide receiver Deion Branch as their kick returner during special teams drills on Monday. Branch has not returned kicks in over five years, but the team may do whatever they can to get him to contribute.

Our View:The team is paying Branch $4.9 million this season, so they might come closer to getting their money's worth if Branch can return kicks. He is the team's third receiver, and he looks like a long shot to be a heavy contributor this season.
August 31, 2009
Updating an earlier report, Deion Branch is not in jeopardy of being cut by the Seahawks, according to Mike Sando ESPN.

Our View:Branch is slated to earn $4.94MM this season, but the Seahawks should still keep him, if merely to strengthen their depth at receiver.
August 31, 2009
The Tacoma News Tribune suggests that the Seahawks may cut wide receiver Deion Branch. Branch is set to make $5 million this season, and he projects as the team's third receiver at best this season.

Our View:$5 mil is a lot to pay a guy who doesn't start, and to make matters worse for Branch the team is fairly deep at the receiver position. The move would make sense, but the Hawks haven't given any indication yet that they plan on taking that action. We will keep you updated.
August 10, 2009
Deion Branch is listed as a backup receiver on the Seahawks' latest depth chart, according to their official website.

Our View:He is listed behind T.J. Houshmandzadeh, with Nate Burleson the other starter. Branch could serve in the slot role as the No. 3 receiver, but his fantasy value looks to be limited, barring injuries.
August 6, 2009
Deion Branch sat out his second straight practice on Thursay with a sore knee, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View:Branch has played only 17 games the past two seasons, so this news cannot be taken lightly. Not like you were going to take him anyway, but stay away from him in your draft.
July 31, 2009
Deion Branch was able to fully practice with the Seahawks in camp Friday, according to ESPN.

Our View:This is encouraging news regarding the state of his surgically-repaired knee. Branch will compete for the slot role as the No. 3 receiver with T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Nate Burleson projected to serve as the starting tandem. Branch is only worth a look as a late-round flier, as he has a poor track record with durability and is yet to reach 1,000 yards in a season.
June 11, 2009
NFL.com reports that Deion Branch has called his surgically repaired knee stronger but not normal. He has been limited to individual drills so far in minicamp but still hopes to start for the Seahawks this season.

Our View:We're not sure if this is stronger but not normal in a Barry Bonds way or in a looks good but doesn't feel good way like Pamela Anderson. Either way, it sounds as if his confidence in the knee is wavering and fantasy owners need to heed his caution.
June 10, 2009
Wide receiver Deion Branch was limited to individual drills in Wednesday's minicamp, according to the News Tribune. He is recovering from offseason knee surgery and expects to be 100 percent by training camp.

Our View:There's a possibility that Branch will be among the top two receivers for Seattle this season, but he has battled a lot of injuries in recent seasons. Keep an eye on his progress in training camp before investing in him.
April 8, 2009
It has been disclosed that Deion Branch underwent a clean-up procedure on his knee in the offseason, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Our View:The operation was minor, and Branch is expected to be ready to go for training camp.
