Ed Reed, who has three years and nearly $19 million remaining on his contract, is hoping to sign a new deal with the Ravens, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Ed Reed, who is recovering from reconstructive hip surgery, is unsure if he will be fully healthy by Week 1 of the regular season, according to Pro Football Talk.

More than a month after he had surgery on his ailing hip, Ed Reed is still recovering in Colorado, according to the Baltimore Sun. He is not expected to be ready for the beginning of training camp this summer. "Ed is really working hard from everything I've heard," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said on Thursday. "Ed is at the stage of his career where he knows himself better than anybody."

Our View:Although it's obviously ideal for any player not to miss any of training camp, it should have little effect on the perennial all-pro's 2010 season. That is, as long as his hip heals up to 100 percent. Stay tuned.

NFL.com reports that Ed Reed, recovering from offseason hip surgery, fully expects to play football in 2010.

Our View:Reed is currently ahead of schedule in his rehab and is geared up for another season with the Ravens. Expect the team to treat him with kid gloves during training camp, but he should be good to go for the first game of the season, barring any setbacks of course. His friend and financial adviser Brad Davis stated, "Ed is as committed to football as I have ever seen. He told me he feels like he's 25 again." Sounds like he's pumped.

Our View:Reed was limited by the hip last season and ultimately missed four games because of it. We expect him to be back as one of the best safeties in the league this season, although his durability and age point to a steady decline in performance for the remainder of his career.

Despite saying otherwise a few weeks ago, elite Ravens safety Ed Reed is unlikely to retire this offseason, according to the National Football Post.

Our View:"Barring an unexpected change," he will play in 2010. That "unexpected change" come come in the form of any of his three chronic injuries (neck, hip and groin) worsening, but it sounds likely that he will be on the field for at least one more season.

Our View:Reed dealt with a smattering of injuries all season long, appearing in just 12 games. His three interceptions were also his fewest since 2005. That being said, he still has $19.7 million and three years remaining on his contract, and was likely just frustrated after Baltimore's loss on Saturday night. He will most likely play in 2010.

The Baltimore Ravens are expecting free safety Ed Reed to play today - not a full game but part of it, according to Adam Schefter's (ESPN) twitter page.
