Richard Seymour (undisclosed) was again held out of Raiders practice on Saturday, according to Jerry McDonald of the Contra Costa Times.
Until a more thorough explanation for his absences is provided, consider him day-to-day.
According to Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle, Richard Seymour was a no-show at Raiders practice on Thursday morning.
No word yet on why he was absent. More than likely, he is nursing a minor injury. Stay tuned.
After Oakland did not sign defensive lineman Richard Seymour to a long-term contract extension this week, they can no longer do so until after next season, according to the Associated Press. The Raiders' franchise player, Seymour will make $12.4 million in 2010.
This obviously hurts Seymour more than Oakland, as at age 30, his time to cash in is running out. That being said, he should be as motivated as ever in 2010.
A source is telling Jason La Canfora of NFL.com that a deal between the Raiders and franchise player Richard Seymour is unlikely to be reached by the Thursday deadline.
Seymour signed his franchise tender with Oakland on June 19 and would need an extension in place by Thursday according to the NFL's franchise player rules. Currently, he's in a one-year contract and can't sign an extension until the 2010 season ends if tomorrow's deadline is missed.
Richard Seymour has signed his franchise tender with the Raiders, according to the team's Twitter page.
He'll earn $12.398 million next season as a result. Seymour will look to bounce back in 2010 after a disappointing 2009 campaign.
In an email sent to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, Raiders defensive end Richard Seymour said "I will continue to discuss my long-term future with the (the Raiders)."
Meaning, even though the Raiders slapped their franchise player tag on him today, he could still end up with a long-term deal. Since this is Al Davis we're talking about here, expect some serious years and money to be thrown out there soon.
The Raiders have placed their franchise player tag on defensive end Richard Seymour, according to the Boston Herald.
He should make roughly $13.4 million in 2010 as a result. In his first season with the Raiders in 2009, Seymour notched 47 tackles and four sacks.
According to the Oakland Tribune, the Raiders will almost certainly lock up defensive end Richard Seymour.
Seymour is looking for a multi-year deal similar to the ones signed by Jared Allen and Dwight Freeney, but the Raiders may decide to slap the lofty $13.398 million franchise tag on him instead. He cost the club a 2011 first-round pick, so the bottom line is they need to keep him around.
According to the National Football Post, Richard Seymour is interested in returning to Oakland next year.
Seymour is a free agent and the Raiders could retain him with the franchise tag after he registered 47 tackles and four sacks this season. He sounds sincere and wants to turn the Raiders struggling program around. "I am in a unique situation where obviously I played out my contact and I have done my time there," Seymour said. "I talked with Mr. Davis before I left and he said he would be getting in touch with my agent to try and work a deal out. I would like to re-sign out in Oakland because I think when you can become a foundation piece and help turn an organization around, I mean that's a challenge to me."
