October 27, 2009
Pro Football Talk reports that Chad Ochocinco is on pace for over 1,300 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns this season after posting just 540 and four, respectively, a year ago.

Our View:Ochocinco promised a monster 2009 last offseason, and he has not disappointed. If you took him at his word and reached for him in your draft, consider yourself rewarded.
October 25, 2009
Chad Ochocinco has his best game of the year against Chicago on Sunday, catching 10 balls for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

Our View:Ochocinco talked a lot of trash throughout the week and backed it up in a major way. He's put his rough 2008 season behind him and has regained his status as an elite fantasy receiver.
October 23, 2009
Chad Ochocinco sat out Bengals practice on Friday with a "tight" hip, according to the team.

Our View:Coach Marvin Lewis said he will almost certainly be able to go this weekend, however. Check back on Sunday to be positive, but you can pencil him into your lineup
October 21, 2009
Chad Ochocinco tweeted that he has been dealt a $10,000 fine for wearing a black chin-strap in Week 6.

Our View:The eccentric receiver was previously dealt a $5,000 fine this season for wearing an orange chin-strap. That explains the monetary increase on the second offense.
October 18, 2009
Chad Ochocinco reeled in five receptions for 103 yards in the Week 6 loss to Houston.

Our View:In the last two games, the artist formerly known as Chad Johnson has compiled 12 receptions for 197 yards. Thus far, he has been a consistent No.1 fantasy receiver in both PPR and non-PPR formats.
October 11, 2009
Chad Ochocinco caught seven passes for 94 yards in the Week 5 win over the Ravens.

Our View:Chad continues to play well, and that is his highest catch total since Week 7 of last season. He still doesn't have a 100-yard effort since the 2007 campaign, but he is once again an every-week fantasy starter.
October 7, 2009
Chad Ochocinco has been talking a considerable amount of trash about the Ravens this week in anticipation of the two teams' meeting this weekend, according to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times. Among other things, he has said he's going to hit Ray Lewis in the mouth, and referred to cornerback Domonique Foxworth as "Vivica A. Foxworth."

Our View:"All of them are going to kiss the baby" was his message for the Ravens' entire team. Ochocinco has also promised a touchdown celebration that will mandate a fine from the league. Through four games this season, he has 258 receiving yards and three touchdowns. It should be fun on Sunday.
October 4, 2009
Chad Ochocinco only caught three passes for 24 yards, but he scored two times in the Week 4 victory over Cleveland.

Our View:With four games in the books, Ochocinco has compiled 17 receptions for 258 yards and three touchdowns. He's currently on pace for 70 receptions, 1,032 yards and 12 touchdowns, which would blow last year's paltry numbers (53-540-4) out of the water.
September 20, 2009
Chad Ochocinco caught four passes for 91 yards and a score in the Week 2 upset of the Green Bay Packers.

Our View:After two games, the artist formerly known as Chad Johnson has posted nine receptions for 180 yards and one touchdown. He's currently on pace for a 72-catch, 1,440-yard and eight-touchdown season. Ochocinco also made good on his promise to do the Lambeau Leap after catching a 13-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter.
September 16, 2009
Chad Ochocinco is planning to make a "Lambeau Leap" when the Bengals battle the Packers on their home turf this weekend, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He said, "I am looking forward to the Lambeau Leap like I did with the Dawg Pound (in Cleveland). To those fans in Wisconsin please this is in no way disrespect. I is something all 31 teams have to deal with, so do you."

Our View:The eccentric receiver looked good in Week 1 when he hauled in five catches for 89 yards against Denver, and seems confident for Sunday's tough match-up at Green Bay. He will be working against two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Al Harris.
September 13, 2009
Chad Ochocinco caught five passes for 89 yards in the season opener against the Broncos.

Our View:Hey, we'll take it. Ochocinco didn't have even one 80-yard effort in 2008. This outing against Champ Bailey gives us some optimism.
August 29, 2009
Chad Ochocinco tweeted that he has been dealt a $5,000 fine by the NFL for wearing an orange chin strap during Thursday's game against the Rams. He said, "I got a damn fine already, it's the damn preseason, this is some BS!!!!"

Our View:The eccentric receiver could potentially also be tagged with an additional fine for complaining about the matter on twitter.
August 23, 2009
The league has said its coming policy regarding players' use of Twitter will not be "anything dramatic," according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View:So Chad Ochocinco and other NFL tweeps can breathe a sigh of relief - as well as their "followers" that hang on their every word, non-sequitur and movie recommendation.
August 20, 2009
Chad Ochocinco looked good in Thursday's 7-6 preseason win at New England, as he hauled in three passes for 69 yards, with a long of 35. He also kicked an extra point.

Our View:OchoCinco has now caught five passes for 142 receiving yards over two preseason games, and will move up fantasy draft boards if the former stud continues to perform well.
August 14, 2009
Chad Ochocinco looked good in Friday's 17-7 preseason loss at New Orleans, as he caught two passes for 73 yards, with a long of 55.

Our View:OchoCinco is off to a nice start as he tries to prove he is still capable of being an elite receiver following a disappointing 2008 campaign. He will creep up draft boards with each solid preseason performance heading up to Week 1 against Denver.
July 15, 2009
Chad Ochocinco stated that he intends to tweet during games despite the NFL rule that forbids him to do so, according to ShutdownCorner.com. He said, "There is a lot of things they do not want me to do. I do it anyway. They know that. I do not know why they even fussing about it. ... When I say I am going to do something, I am going to do it, regardless of what they say."

Our View:Ochocinco should be dealt fines if he carries out his plan to post comments on twitter during NFL games. He should really be focusing on gearing up for the season right now while coming off a disappointing 2008 campaign.
June 15, 2009
Chad Ochocinco intends to stay with Carson Palmer and his family in July to make up for lost time while he was away from the team in the offseason, according to the Associated Press. OchoCinco said, "We do argue all the time like a married couple. I think that is why we have been so successful together, because we have that type of relationship we can get on one another. For the time that I missed with Carson throughout the offseason, I am going to make it up in July."

Our View:OchoCinco looks to be focused and dedicated to the Bengals while coming off a disappointing 2008 campaign. The eccentric receiver could bounce back as a No. 1 fantasy receiver this season - but should be targeted as a No. 2 in drafts to be safe.
June 11, 2009
Bengals.com reports that Chad Ochocinco has physically impressed his teammates and coaches with his strength in speed after two days of OTAs. However, he admitted to not being comfortable running with the first team just yet. As a result, he has been working out with the second unit.

Our View:Chris Henry remains opposite of Laveranues Coles on the first team, but that will change by the time training camp comes around. Ocho seems to be in the right frame of mine and he's saying the types of things that lead one to speculate about another Pro Bowl season.
June 9, 2009
The Cincinnati Inquirer reports that receiver Chad Ochocinco has reported to Bengals OTAs a week earlier than expected.

Our View:After a disastrous 2008, in which he posted his worst numbers since his rookie season and was the cause of continual distractions, Ochocinco appears to be trying to reverse some of the damage in 2009. Even at age 31, a committed Ochocinco should still be a fantasy threat and you shouldn't let him fall too terribly far in your draft.
June 8, 2009
Chad Ochocinco indicated that he spoke with quarterback Carson Palmer for 45 minutes on the phone today, according to the Bengals' official team website. The eccentric receiver said, "We are good. We are like Brokeback Mountain."

Our View:The passing duo look to be on good terms, and OchoCinco expects to attend passing camp next month. He will be looking to bounce back in 2009 after only catching 53 passes for 540 yards and four touchdowns last season.
June 8, 2009
Chad Ochocinco had quite a confession to the NFL Network Friday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. "I'm not even going to lie to you, I'm going to say it. Last year, the offseason, I didn't lift one weight, I didn't run one route, I didn't exercise. I didn't do nothing because my focus was on getting out of a situation I didn't want to be in. I'm not going to lie," Ochocinco said.

Our View:Well, this at least partly explains No. 85's hugely disappointing 2008 season. Ochocinco has reportedly whipped himself back into tip top shape and is super motivated to prove his down year was a fluke. A bounce-back season could be in the offing.
May 30, 2009
Quarterback Carson Palmer stated that he wants Chad Ochocinco after previously commenting that the Bengals are not counting on him, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Palmer said, "He is a damn good receiver - that is obvious, everybody knows that. I never once said anything about not wanting him here and not needing him. We would love to have him when he comes here, but he is not here right now."

Our View:The eccentric receiver remains absent from OTA's, but is expected to report for mandatory minicamp in mid-June.
May 21, 2009
Quarterback Carson Palmer hinted that Chad Ochocinco could be benched, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Palmer said, "We signed Laveranues Coles from New York and he has been a pleasant surprise, everything we have expected and more. We have got some up-and-comers, some guys that people do not know about (Jerome Simpson and Andre Caldwell). So it is definitely a new look for the Bengals receiver corps but I could not be happier with the guys we have got. T.J. is gone and Chad is pretty much gone, he has not been here, so we have got guys that want those two starting spots."

Our View:Palmer could just be trying to light a fire under OchoCinco to get him to report to the OTA's, but he looks to be an unstable fantasy receiver for 2009 as of right now. He is expected to report for the mandatory minicamp in mid-June.
May 13, 2009
ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that the Cincinnati Bengals have issued a press release that "an announcement regarding a major development" for the upcoming season is coming on Thursday. No word yet as to what the development is.

Our View:The Bengals haven't leaked the announcement yet, but speculation is that they will announce their participation in the HBO documentary "Hard Knocks". The Cowboys made a similar announcement at about the same time last year prior to their participation. We will keep you updated as to what the news is.
May 11, 2009
Agent Drew Rosenhaus indicated that client Chad Johnson has been working very hard in the offseason and is in great physical shape, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Rosenhaus added that he is also very motivated.

Our View:The Bengals let T.J. Houshmandzadeh depart for Seattle, but speed demon Laveranues Coles should prove to be a worthy replacement and wingman for Johnson. Quarterback Carson Palmer is expected to bounce back healthy this season as well, so Johnson will have a chance to rejoin the upper-tier among fantasy receivers following a disappointing 2008 campaign in which he was limited to 53 catches, 540 receiving yards and four touchdown.
April 23, 2009
Bob Holtzman of ESPN indicated that the Bengals are listening to offers for Chad Johnson, but are not likely to trade him.

Our View:If a team offers the Bengals a solid deal for Johnson, they could replace him with pick No. 6 in the draft, with options such as Michael Crabtree (Texas Tech) or Jeremy Maclin (Missouri).
April 21, 2009
Bengals' head coach Marvin Lewis noted that Chad Johnson will not be traded, according to their official team website.

Our View:Lewis noted that the Bengals do not intend to move Johnson, and he does not imagine the club taking a better receiver than Johnson in the draft.
April 20, 2009
T.J. Houshmandzadeh commented that Chad Johnson would like to leave Cincinnati, according to Sports Illustrated. Houshmandzadeh said, "Chad Johnson called me today. Crying. He wonders why everyone can get traded but him."

Our View:Houshmandzadeh departed for Seattle, but the club replaced him with speed demon Laveranues Coles. Quarterback Carson Palmer is expected to be healthy after being hindered by an elbow injury in 2008, and Johnson would be in position to generate solid numbers if he is unable to leave the club.
April 8, 2009
Michael Smith of ESPN said on NFL Live that he is hearing that the Eagles are interested in acquiring Chad Johnson from the Bengals. Smith said, "I am hearing there is interest in Chad Johnson. Now there has been some back and forth as to whether or not he is officially on the market. I think everybody in Cincinnati has signed off on moving Chad Johnson except for owner Mike Brown. The Eagles could be in the picture. They have two first-round picks. They need a receiver."

Our View:The Eagles covet a true No. 1 receiver for their pass-happy offense, and rising star DeSean Jackson would be a solid complement to Johnson if he landed in Philadelphia.
April 6, 2009
The Cincinnati Enquirer shot down the rumor that the Bengals were going to deal Chad Johnson to the Raiders in exchange for running back Michael Bush.

Our View:Raiders' owner Al Davis is not ready to give up on Bush, who was a third-round pick out of Louisville in 2007. The Raiders will also have a chance to address their need at receiver with the No. 7 pick in the upcoming draft.
March 30, 2009
Chad Johnson wasn't with his Bengals teammates at the start of the club's offseason program, according to ESPN. "I'm not worried about him; I'm worried about the guys we have here," QB Carson Palmer said. "The guys that want to be here and want to work now are the guys who are in the locker room right now and are here today."

Our View:This guy just doesn't seem to get it does he? Coming off the worst season of his career (53 receptions for 540 yards), Johnson could certainly stand to show everyone he means business in 2009, especially considering that he is "the man" with T.J. Houshmanzadeh now in Seattle.
March 29, 2009
It is uncertain whether wide receiver Chad Johnson will be present at the Bengals' first offseason conditioning session on Monday, according to the Cincinnati Inquirer. "I plan on everyone to be here until I hear that they're not," head coach Marvin Lewis said. "Now, there are some guys in weddings or classes who won't be here the first week but will the second, and vice versa. We should be at 90 percent or better in terms of attendance."

Our View:Johnson, who had only 540 yards on 53 catches a season ago, pledged during the week of the Super Bowl that he would be present at all offseason team activities.
March 24, 2009
The Bengals are uncertain if Chad Johnson will attend their off-season program next week, according to ESPN.

Our View:His participation/attendance could indicate if he wants to stay in Cincinnati or if he still desires a trade.
March 20, 2009
Coach Marvin Lewis expects Chad Johnson to be a member of the Bengals this season, according to their official team website. Lewis said, "Chad has been taking care of Chad, which is a good thing. Chad is disappointed with his season a year ago and there are a lot of reasons that led to that. He wants to do everything in his power to rectify it."

Our View:This is good news, as the Bengals cannot afford to lose Johnson after T.J. Houshmandzadeh departed for Seattle. Johnson should bounce back in 2009, and may even be able to rejoin the elite class, depending on the health of quarterback Carson Palmer.
February 12, 2009
Agent Drew Rosenhaus indicated that Chad Johnson is available for a trade, according to ESPN. Rosenhaus sent an email to every NFL club.

Our View:The Bengals are believed to be willing to move Johnson for a good price, and the Giants could be among the interested clubs as Plaxico Burress' future is uncertain.
January 25, 2009
There is a rumor circulating that the Giants are interested in Chad Johnson, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:The Bengals are believed to be willing to unload Johnson for a favorable price, and the Giants may bite as Plaxico Burress' status is uncertain due to his legal issues, and Amani Toomer is set to become a free agent. As of now, this news is purely speculation.
