Tight end Todd Heap caught five passes for 58 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 10 win over the Texans.

Our View:Welcome to the 2008 season, Mr. Heap. The once-studly tight end has not had a good year, and fantasy owners shouldn't chase this performance by starting him next week. That being said, Joe Flacco is looking better by the day, and maybe, just maybe, Heap can crawl up the rankings again.

Todd Heap, who has been dealing with a neck ailment, is probable for Sunday's game at Cleveland, according to NFL.com. He fully practiced Friday.

Our View:He is yet to score a touchdown and has been limited to only 13 receptions, and has an unfavorable match-up against the Browns' 10th ranked pass defense.
October 3, 2008
The Baltimore Ravens coaching staff may believe that tight end Todd Heap is "soft" due to his inability to play through a calf injury in the preseason, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:Heap is constantly injured, as any fantasy owner can tell you. He has a pathetic three catches for 37 yards, and at the moment, there is really no reason for him to be on fantasy rosters.
September 21, 2008
Tight end Todd Heap (back, wrist) is active for the Week 3 game against the Browns.

Our View:Heap has seemingly been dealing with one ailment or another since the start of training camp. We'd bench him until he shows he is at least healthy enough to help fantasy teams.
September 19, 2008
Todd Heap has been upgraded to full participation in practice, according to the Baltimore Sun. He had been dealing with a back bruise and a wrist ailment.

Our View:Heap only notched one reception for five yards this season, but has a favorable home match-up against the Browns this weekend to help him get on track.
September 12, 2008
Todd Heap is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Texans according to the baltimoreravens.com. He has been a full participant in all of this week's practices as he is dealing with a back bruise.

Our View:Whether or not he will be effective is another question. Against a mediocre Bengals secondary, he managed just one catch for five yeards. Regardless, history tells us that rookie quarterbacks, like Joe Flacco in Baltimore, use their tight ends quite a bit. Expect better numbers from Heap this weekend, but don't expect him to be a top 10 tight end option.
September 11, 2008
Todd Heap is dealing with a back bruise but was able to fully participate in Wednesday's practice, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:Heap looks to suit up for Week 2, and should be active in fantasy lineups while working as quarterback Joe Flacco's safety valve against the Texans.
September 7, 2008
Todd Heap was being treated for a back bruise after Sunday's game, this according to the Baltimore Sun. The tight end has spent more time on the injury report than he has off during his NFL career.

Our View:Heap is typically a Sunday question mark, and has become such a high-maintenance player many refuse to draft him, despite his talent.
September 7, 2008
Tight end Todd Heap (knee) is active for Week 1 against the Bengals.

Our View:Heap battled injuries throughout the preseason, and we have to believe he could be rusty heading into the opener. Plus, do you really trust Joe Flacco?
September 5, 2008
Todd Heap is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Bengals, according to the Baltimore Sun. He had been nursing a knee injury.

Our View:He had been limited throughout the week, but looks to start Sunday. He should be productive with rookie quarterback Joe Flacco likely to target him on short high percentage routes throughout the game.

Baltimore coach John Harbaugh reports tight end Todd Heap is expected to play in the regular season opener on September 7th against Cincinnati, according to the Sporting News.

Our View:Heap has been a source of frustration for fantasy owners, an immense talent that is forever on the mend. He's already suffered two weeks lost this preseason and backup Daniel Wilcox isn't proving much more durable, just getting back to practice now due to leg injuries. Heap could be the top receiver in Baltimore, but his value is damaged with these setbacks.
August 22, 2008
Todd Heap has been ruled out to play against St. Louis in the next preseason game, according to the Baltimore Sun. He is still recovering from a right calf ailment. Heap said, "I would like to get a lot more reps before we start the regular season, but I've got to be smart. Being ready for the season is the most important thing right now."

Our View:Coach John Harbaugh expects him to be ready to go in Week 1 against Cincinnati. Heap should be drafted as a top-10 fantasy tight end.
August 15, 2008
Todd Heap has been out since August 2 while recovering from a right calf ailment, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:Heap is expected to be ready for Week 1, but is missing time to get into rhythm with the Ravens' quarterbacks, namely Troy Smith. Heap has top-5 potential as a fantasy tight end if healthy, but must be accompanied by a solid backup for insurance if you decide to pull him off the board on draft day.
August 2, 2008
Though the injury did not seem to be serious, Ravens tight end Todd Heap left the practice field limping from an apparent calf injury, according to the AP.

Our View:You can only be warned so many times about someone. Todd Heap is a walking injury, and drafting him for your fantasy football team is a real risk. If you do pick him up, drafting another quality tight end is mandatory.
May 11, 2008
Updating an earlier report, the Ravens have been allowing Todd Heap to rest his hamstring during mini-camp, the Baltimore Sun reports. Heap's hamstring is one of the reasons he played in just six games in 2007.

Our View:We figured it might be something like that. Heap is no stranger to injury, and the Ravens should keep him bubble-wrapped during the summer and possibly throughout training camp.
May 11, 2008
Todd Heap was not at morning practice on Sunday, but the reason is not known, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Our View:We hope the oft-injured Heap doesn't have another ailment. We'll update his status when more is known.

Todd Heap has restructured his contract in an effort to create additional salary-cap space so the Baltimore Ravens can position themselves to place the franchise tag on linebacker Terrell Suggs if necessary, according to the Carroll County Times. The business transaction frees up approximately $1.7 million in cap space, which will be converted to a pro-rated signing bonus for Heap. The two-time Pro Bowl selection battled a hamstring injury last season, eventually being placed on injured reserve. He was limited to 23 receptions for 239 yards and one touchdown.
February 11, 2008
Todd Heap will train in Baltimore this offseason instead of his home state of Arizona as he looks to recover from the torn left hamstring that limited him to just five games in 2007, according to the Baltimore Sun. "I was so frustrated after this past year trying to get on the field, but my hamstring wouldn't allow it," said Heap. "The biggest thing right now is to get it right through offseason preparation. Also, I'm going to be around here to see what Cam is doing."
February 10, 2008
Todd Heap, who missed 10 games because of an injured hamstring last season, is looking forward to a fresh start with the new coaching staff. "I sat down and talked with [OC Cam Cameron] on Monday," said Heap. "The biggest thing that sticks out is what he did in San Diego. You see what he did with their talent, how he used their receivers as playmakers. He was extremely successful with that offense." No one doubts his talent, but Heap will need to stay on the field in '08 to prove his worth all over again. Of course, his value depends not only on the new system that will be put on place but on who will be getting him the ball in the Ravens offense. Baltimore Sun
