Billy Volek took over for Phillip Rivers on Sunday and led the Chargers to a 23-20 win with a 19-of-30 performance that included a touchdown and a pick.

Our View:Volek led an impressive drive down the field, and hooked up with fullback Mike Tolbert with 35 seconds left in the game to secure another Charger victory. It's nice to see him do well with a chunk of snaps in case something happens to Rivers in the playoffs.

Billy Volek reportedly looked very good over the weekend during minicamp, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. He led the first team offense as Philip Rivers did not work in team drills.

Our View:Volek decided not to leave as a free agent in the off-season and will be content serving as Rivers' top backup. He has generated great numbers when given a chance to start in Tennessee, but his fantasy value will remain limited this season in San Diego.

Billy Volek decided against leaving the Chargers as a free agent, agreeing to a new contract on Friday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Details of the deal weren't available, but he reportedly could have made more money and seen more action with some of his suitors, but he wanted to stick with the Chargers coaching staff and teammates.

The Chargers have acquired Billy Volek from the Titans in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick. Volek will back up Philip Rivers.
