Chad Pennington has started rehab following season-ending shoulder surgery, according to ESPN. He will meet with Dr. James Andrews tomorrow, and they will discuss a program for the next six weeks.

Our View:Pennington will wait until March before deciding if he will attempt a comeback, or hang up his cleats. It will depend on how he feels and how his shoulder respeonds. He would have to battle Chad Henne for the starting gig in 2010 if he remains with Miami.

Even though Chad Pennington's season is over for the Miami Dolphins, surgery revealed that his shoulder repair Friday was encouraging enough that he could resume his career in 2010 if he has the desire, according to ESPN.

Our View:Pennington's surgery required only an arthroscopic procedure, repairing a torn labrum and minimal damage to the joint capsule as the result of a dislocated right shoulder. He could resume light throwing within 8-to-12 weeks.

Updating an earlier report, Chad Pennington has decided to undergo surgery after tearing the capsule in his right shoulder, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:That will mark the third surgery on his throwing shoulder. The 33-year-old vet will become a free agent after the season, and his career with the Dolphins is likely over.

Chad Pennington (injured throwing shoulder) has been placed on injured reserve, officially ending his 2009 season.

Our View:The move was made to clear room for the recently acquired reserve quarterback Tyler Thigpen. Pennington has now injured the same shoulder multiple times, and at age 33, his career could be in jeopardy.

Updating a previous report, ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that Dolphins' quarterback Chad Pennington is expected to be out for the year with a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder. Pennington will get a second opinion later this week.

Our View:This sounds like a worst-case scenario for Pennington and the Dolphins, as it looks like he is done for the season. Chad Henne will take over as the starter, and Pat White will be the backup for now. Don't be shocked if the team brings in a veteran backup, but the starting job is Henne's unless he proves he can't handle it.
