Jeff Garcia confessed on Wednesday that he doesn’t expect so see much playing time this week. “I’m preparing like I’m going to play, but (Jon Gruden) has expressed the possibility of certain guys not being on the field on Sunday,” Garcia told the St. Petersburg Times. Luke McCown will get the majority of the work, if not the start on Sunday.

According to Bucs coach Jon Gruden, Jeff Garcia will be the starting quarterback next week against the Falcons. Garcia has missed the last two weeks with a sore back, leaving Luke McCown to start. Garcia practiced on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday last week, but was not ready to play, and was a scratch just before kickoff.

Despite having regained full range of motion, Jeff Garcia sat out of Week 14 due to his ailing back. However, the Bucs expect him to return to action Sunday versus the Falcons, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Apparently, the plan all along was to sit Garcia for two games before preparing him for Week 15, so he should be good to go on Sunday.

The Buccaneers look like they will be getting their starting quarterback this weekend. Jeff Garcia , who missed Week 13 with a back injury, is confident that he’ll be healthy enough to return to action this week. "I believe that I will play," Garcia told the St. Petersburg Times on Wednesday. "I'm preparing to play. I'm sure they will leave that somewhat up to me, and as far as I'm concerned I want to be out there playing. And I don't think that I'm risking anything. I feel like I'm getting back to a place where I'm healthy again. Of course, it's not without some aches, but that's just part of the soreness working it's way out. I feel good about where my healthy is and where I'm headed."

According to Bucs coach Jon Gruden, Jeff Garcia has no structural damage to his back, and will be back in the lineup as soon as he is medically cleared to play. Garcia suffered a deep back bruise in the Nov. 25 game against the Redskins, and sat out on Sunday against the Saints.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Jeff Garcia has a hairline fracture in his back. However, coach Jon Gruden has denied that an MRI or CT scan revealed any damage. We should have some clearer information on this soon.

Jeff Garcia returned to practice on a limited basis on Friday after sitting out the two previous days with a back injury. “I’m getting better and taking steps in the right direction,” Garcia told the St. Petersburg Times. “I feel a lot better than I thought I would.” Garcia’s status for Sunday’s game against the Saints will be determined on Sunday.

Buccaneers quarterback Jeff Garcia’s back in improving, but he has said he’s still unable to throw a football, according to the Tampa Tribune. “I’m feeling a little better today; I’m taking some better steps today than yesterday, [but] I’m not at a point now where I can even throw the ball yet,’’ Garcia told WDAE radio.

Jeff Garcia returned to the game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second half against the Redskins. He had injured his back during a first quarter scramble. This is obviously good news for Garcia owners as well as the Bucs offense. His back will certainly be under examination all of next week, so don't be surprised to see him land on the injury report with a "probable" status.

Jeff Garcia walked into the locker room with a Bucs trainer early in the first quarter today. Garcia was hit hard and thrown to the turf, injuring his back. Bruce Gradkowski is in the game in place of Garcia, we will keep you updated on the quarterback status in Tampa.

Buccaneers quarterback Jeff Garcia is dealing with a sore throwing arm, but it is not expected to prevent him from playing on Sundays. “All the veteran quarterbacks go through it,'' head coach Jon Gruden told the St. Petersburg Times. "We're one of the few teams right now that have had a guy go all the way at quarterback this season. We're going to do the best we can. If we have to be creative with the practice schedule, we'll be creative with the practice schedule as we have been in the last couple weeks.'' The Buccaneers offense would be in big trouble if Garcia went down, but it doesn’t seem like this ailment is anything to worry about.

Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden made it clear on Friday morning that he considers Jeff Garcia the favorite to win the starting quarterback job. "There's not a lot of controversy in my eyes right now," Gruden is quoted as saying in the St. Petersburg Times. "If you want to catch up to Jeff Garcia, our young quarterbacks have some work to do. Garcia has done a great job from day one, since he's been here."

The Bucs added to an already crowded quarterback situation by signing free agent Jeff Garcia on Saturday, according to the AP. Garcia, who nearly signed with the Bucs as a free agent in 2004, agreed to a two-year deal he hopes will give him a chance to finally get to the Super Bowl.

Jeff Garcia told Jay Leno of The Tonight Show Tuesday night that he will test out free agency, but that it would "be great" if a deal could be worked out with Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I'll definitely be testing the waters," Garcia said. "I've got to see what's out there." The Eagles were 6-2 with Garcia as a starter this year after he took over for an injured Donovan McNabb.
