As had been expected, Kurt Warner announced his retirement on Friday, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:And so ends a storybook 12-year career that included two MVPs and a Super Bowl title. Warner will end up with 32,344 yards and 208 touchdowns and is sure to end up in Canton once he's eligible. The Cardinals are left with Matt Leinart, and while they're likely to go into next season with him as their starter, you can expect them to at least upgrade their backup spot.

Kurt Warner's Friday press conference, where it is widely believed he will announce his retirement from the NFL, has been scheduled for 3 p.m. PST, according to ESPN's Trey Wingo.

Our View:While no one officially knows what he is going to say, it would be very unusual for a player to set up an engagement of this manner simply to announce he is returning for another season. If you don't want to see Kurt retire, your only hope may be him canceling his press conference. Otherwise, it looks like a done deal.

Kurt Warner has scheduled a press conference this Friday where he'll announce whether or not he plans to retire, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View:All signs have pointed toward Warner retiring, something that such an early decision also seems to hint at. We'll know for sure on Friday, though the Cardinals and Warner's keeper-league owners should start to plan on life after the future Hall of Famer.

Kurt Warner could be nearing a decision about whether or not to retire, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View:Scheduled to make numerous public appearances during the week leading up to the Super Bowl, he would face an endless amount of questions about his future if he does not make an announcement soon. It's just a hunch on the newspaper's part that he will reach a decision in the coming days, but a well-reasoned one. Stay tuned.

Kurt Warner sounded like a player leaning toward retirement in a recent interview with ESPN's Rick Reilly. "The three hours on Sundays are still fun," Warner stated. "But it's the whole week, the whole commitment, the ability to sustain it to your fullest, day in and day out." Warner later added, "You feel the pressure. You have a game that isn't that great and people are like, 'What's wrong with Warner?' That wears on you. You don't have the joy and the fun and satisfaction of having one of those great games because everybody expects you to have one of those games. You never get to exhale."

Our View:There have been a number of reports the past few weeks stating that Warner was leaning toward retirement following the end of Arizona's run this season, but now we're hearing the words straight from Warner's mouth. While Warner never comes out and addresses retirement dead on in the interview, it seems like that will be the route he ends up going with. Expect a decision sometime over the next month, and keeper league owners should be ready to move on.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, "many" believe Kurt Warner's playing career is "finished."

Our View:An earlier Schefter report that Warner was retiring for sure has since been refuted by the future Hall-of-Famer, though he does seem to be facing a true 50-50 decision. Coming off of a season in which he passed for 3,753 yards and 26 touchdowns, his talent is still considerable at age 38.

Kurt Warner will indeed consider retirement this offseason, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View:Some reports in the past few weeks have claimed he has already decided to retire, but he has publicly denied that many times. Warner was quite shaken up after an errant pass got receiver Anquan Boldin leveled in 2008, and after taking another huge hit of his own on Saturday, the motivation might finally be there for the 38-year-old future Hall-of-Famer to hang it up. Stay tuned.

Kurt Warner was a disappointment in Saturday's 45-14 playoff loss at New Orleans, as he only completed 17-of-26 passes for 205 yards, with no touchdowns and an interception.

Our View:Warner was forced to exit for a while after suffering a chest injury in the first half. There is already some speculation that the 38-year-old quarterback may have played in his last NFL game, but he is yet to decide his plans for the 2010 campaign.

Kurt Warner has returned to battle in the second half of today's game at New Orleans, according to Jeff Duncan's (New Orleans Times-Picayune) twitter page.

Our View:This is good news, as Warner left earlier with a chest injury. The Cardinals have a lot of ground to make up though, as Arizona is trailing 35-14.

Updating an earlier report, Kurt Warner suffered a chest injury in the second quarter of today's game at New Orleans, according to Jeff Duncan's (New Orleans Times-Picayune) twitter page.

Our View:The former Super Bowl MVP is questionable to return. Matt Leinart will direct the Cardinals' offense in his absence.
January 16, 2010
Kurt Warner was shaken up in the second quarter of today's game at New Orleans, according to Brad Biggs' twitter page. He was hit by defensive end Bobby McCray.

Our View:Warner is up and walking on the sideline, but his status is yet to be updated. Stay tuned for further updates on the veteran gunslinger.

Kurt Warner does not take the usual NFL attitude that playoff games are "just another game," according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View:"Playoff time is just special and it's different," Warner said. "I said that to somebody last week. 'It's time to elevate. It's time to raise the standard.' You have to bring your game up. There is something about knowing that this is it, that every game you could be going home, it's just more fun." Considering Warner's playoff accomplishments, which include the three highest single game passing totals in Super Bowl history, young players might be wise to listen to him. Coming off of an incomprehensibly great performance against the Packers last Sunday (29-of-33 for 379 yards and five touchdowns), New Orleans' defense is surely not looking forward to facing him.
January 11, 2010
Kurt Warner denied that he has made any plans regarding his future and possible retirement after this season, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View:An ESPN report from yesterday stated that Warner would likely retire whenever Arizona's playoff run came to an end, though that does not appear to be the case. For now, thoughts of Warner's future after this season are in the rear-view mirror with the Cardinals moving on in the playoffs and looking to make another run toward the Super Bowl.
January 10, 2010
Kurt Warner was phenomenal in Sunday's wild 51-45 overtime win against Green Bay. The ageless quarterback was 29-of-33 for 379 yards and five touchdowns.

Our View:Warner, expected to retire after the Cardinals playoff runs ends, looked like he had plenty left in the tank on Sunday. Even without 1,000-yard receiver Anquan Boldin he managed to toss five scores, tying his personal best postseason mark, and never turned the ball over. He'll have another crack at breaking it next week as the Cards take on Drew Brees and the Saints.
January 10, 2010
Kurt Warner is expected to retire whenever Arizona's playoff run ends, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:That means that today's game against Green Bay could potentially be the last NFL contest of Warner's illustrious career should the Cardinals come up short. Warner will clearly have plenty of time to change his mind, though keeper league owners should be prepared to be without Warner next season.
January 3, 2010
Kurt Warner was taken out of Sunday's game against the Packers after only one quarter.

Our View:He finished just 4-of-6 for 31 yards over two drives. His 30 touchdowns this season mark the third time he has thrown more than 25 in the last three seasons. He completed 66.1 percent of his passes in the regular season and is signed through next season.
January 3, 2010
With the Vikings leading the Giants 31-0, a victory seems certain, meaning the Cardinals may not have any incentive to play for a win today. This means that Kurt Warner and several other key fantasy performers will see little or possibly no time on the field.

Our View:A giant Giants comeback is possible (we guess) but seems unlikely. Hopefully you have a backup plan in place for you Cardinals players.
