Alan Faneca has made it official, signing a five-year, $40 million contract with the Jets, this according to the NFL Network. Faneca, 31, was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection with the Steelers. His addition to the left side of the Jets offensive line juices the fantasy value of current starter, tailback Thomas Jones.

Alan Faneca's agent, Rick Smith, has denied an ESPN report that his client has signed on with the Jets. "False report. It's a false report," Smith told Newsday. The free agent lineman could still end up in New York, but St. Louis has also reportedly expressed strong interest in the veteran guard.

The St. Louis Rams are going head-to-head with the New York Jets in negotiations with Pittsburgh free-agent guard Alan Faneca, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Supposedly, Faneca will make his decision without making a trip to visit with either team. Indications are that Faneca is planning to think things over for a day or two before making a decision. The addition of Faneca in St. Louis would obviously be a boon for Steven Jackson owners.

Alan Faneca is receiving strong interest from San Francisco, St. Louis and the New York Jets, according to Fox Sports. Faneca doesn't plan on making any free-agent visits while mulling impending contract offers but hopes to make a decision between those organizations within the next 48 hours. Faneca, who has been named to seven consecutive Pro Bowls, is considered the best free agent offensive lineman on the open market.

Yesterday we reported that the New York Jets were prepared to dump a truckload of money in the coffer of Pittsburgh OG Alan Faneca. Today it’s being reported that New York and Faneca have already negotiated a massive deal, according to the Press Democrat. Keep in mind this is still a pre-free agency rumor, but the deal will reportedly pay Faneca $20 million in guaranteed money.
