The New York Daily News is reporting that Jets' offensive lineman Alan Faneca could miss the entire preseason after undergoing surgery to repair his broken left middle finger. Faneca is expected to be ready to go when the season opens.

Our View:Faneca isn't expected to miss any regular season time due to this injury, so that is good news for Jet fans. New York's offensive line is a little beat up, but they should be much healthier when Week 1 opens.

Jets' offensive lineman Alan Faneca did not practice on Wednesday due to a broken middle finger on his left hand, according to the New York Daily News. Faneca will not play in the team's first preseason game against the Rams on Friday.

Our View:Faneca should be fine by the time the season starts, and the Jets need him to be healthy, as they already have two other O-linemen out with injury. Expect him to return soon, because he is a football player, and football players are tough.

Our View:Many thought the Steelers would get at least a fourth-round pick for losing a player like Faneca, but that did not come to fruition. The formula for determining these picks is long and complicated, and this is one of many different rules.

Alan Faneca has made it official, signing a five-year, $40 million contract with the Jets, this according to the NFL Network. Faneca, 31, was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection with the Steelers. His addition to the left side of the Jets offensive line juices the fantasy value of current starter, tailback Thomas Jones.

Alan Faneca's agent, Rick Smith, has denied an ESPN report that his client has signed on with the Jets. "False report. It's a false report," Smith told Newsday. The free agent lineman could still end up in New York, but St. Louis has also reportedly expressed strong interest in the veteran guard.
