The Cardinals are interested in Matt Birk if he does not return to Minnesota next season, according to the Pioneer Press.

Our View:Birk is a six-time Pro Bowler, and Arizona could use an upgrade at center.

Our View:The Vikings should probably be giving the 32-year-old Pro Bowler an occasional day off as it is. We're obviously not worried about his status.

Vikings center Matt Birk reported to Minnesota's minicamp on Friday despite reports he would skip, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Birk reports his decision to skip voluntary OTAs was driven more by family matters than his desire for a new contract. We will see if that line holds true moving forward, but Birk is setting a precedent and the team may reward him for doing so.

Offensive lineman Matt Birk has returned to the Vikings, according to the AP. He is looking for a contract extension, but stated, "I consider myself very lucky to be a part of this team and play football for a living. I’m very happy with my contract. I want to be here for as long as I play."

Minnesota coach Brad Childress confirmed the Minnesota Vikings have no plans to extend the contract of Matt Birk, explaining that he prefers to see how the veteran center plays in 2008 before determining whether the organization wants to retain him, according to Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Birk, who will make $5.72 million this season, is currently skipping the voluntary portion of the Vikings’ conditioning program.
