At least publicly, the Colts are not perturbed by recent comments made by Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams that insinuated his team would like to injure Peyton Manning in Super Bowl XLIV, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View:"I just think that comments that individuals make, we can't control that. They use whatever motivational tools they'd like to. And that's up to him, were the words of head coach Jim Caldwell. "I'm not going to pass judgment on anything he says. We're going to focus in on what we do and go from there." We're thinking Peyton will do all of his talking with his touchdown throws. Stay tuned.

After nearly killing both Kurt Warner and Brett Favre in their two most recent playoff wins, the Saints appear intent on either severely rattling or injuring Colts quarterback Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl, according to ESPN.

Our View:"(Peyton's) got a great clock in his head. The big thing is that he throws the ball so early that we're going to have to do a good job of finding ways to get to him and when we do get to him we're going to have to make sure he gets a couple 'remember me' shots when we get there," were the words of Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. When asked about the Saints' many borderline dirty hits on Favre last week, Williams added this. "Here's the deal. When you put too much of that type of worry on a warrior's mind, he doesn't play all out. If (penalties) happens, (they) happen. And the only thing you'd like for me to say is that if it happens you hope he doesn't get back up and play again." While it's always a good idea to rattle the opposing teams quarterback, the manner in which the Saints are going about would seem to invite retribution hits on their own signal-caller Drew Brees. It could be a very physical, and ugly, Super Bowl.

Peyton Manning gunned down the Jets in Sunday's 30-17 win in the AFC Championship at Lucas Oil Stadium, as he completed 26-of-39 passes for 377 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Our View:Manning proved why he was named the 2009 MVP, as he led the Colts to Super Bowl 44. The elite quarterback will be going for his second ring, as he won his first back in February of 2007 against Chicago.

In the latest installment of Rex Ryan talking a lot, the Jets head coach promised on Sunday that Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will be surprised by some of New York's defensive looks during the AFC Championship game, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View:"It's going to be the combo platter," Ryan said of his team's planned coverage on Sunday. "You come after them some, play some coverages, and then mix some coverages that (Peyton's) never seen before." Somehow, we think Manning will be ready. We shall find out soon.

Peyton Manning claims he wasn't trying to avoid being drafted by the Jets in 1997 when he decided to return for his senior year of college at the University of Tennessee, according to the Boston Herald.

Our View:The Jets had the number one overall pick that season, and likely would have taken Manning. It's an interesting story, and interesting how far back Jets fans' memories seem to go, but nothing else.

Peyton Manning did a good job directing the Colts in Saturday's 20-3 win over the Ravens at Lucas Oil Stadium, as he completed 30-of-44 passes for 246 yards, with two touchdowns and one interception.

Our View:The NFL MVP did not disappoint, and will now gear up to battle either the Jets or Chargers in the AFC Championship. Manning closed out the regular season with a 99.9 efficiency rating, which was just the fourth-best mark of his career.

Peyton Manning set an NFL record on Saturday when he was announced as the NFL's MVP, his fourth time winning the award, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Manning received 39.5 of the 50 votes, with 7.5 going to Drew Brees, two to Philip Rivers and one to Brett Favre. Manning will add the 2009 MVP award to his trophy case that also includes the same award from 2003, 2004 and 2008, as well as the 2007 Super Bowl MVP. Manning obviously has other things on his mind right now, as his team will overlook the first round of the playoffs this week and await their opponent for next week, but it's still a phenomenal accomplishment to be known as the man with the most MVPs in your sport. When it comes to major American pro sports, Manning joins Wayne Gretzky (9), Barry Bonds (7) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (6) in the club for most MVP awards in their respective sport.

Former Indianapolis head coach, and current NBC television analyst, Tony Dungy believes that the Colts might be as motivated in the playoffs this season as the Patriots were after their infamous "Spygate" incident, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View:"The fallout may actually help them," Dungy is, of course, referring to the widespread fallout the Colts have had to deal with since abandoning their pursuit of a perfect 16-0 season in Week 16.. "It may be kind of a Spygate thing where everybody says, 'Hey, they're ripping our boss, they're ripping our owner, they're ripping our coach. We need to go out and play and show people this was the right decision.'" He could be right. Stay tuned.

The Colts pulled Peyton Manning at the end of the first quarter after he completed 14-of-18 passes for 95 yards and an interception.

Our View:The Colts didn't think an undefeated season was important, but made sure to get tight end Dallas Clark and wide receiver Reggie Wayne 100 catches before pulling Manning for Curtis Painter, who will finish up the game in blizzard-like conditions.
