November 20, 2009
The Dallas Morning News reports that Shawn Marion will not play on Friday when the Mavericks take on the Kings due to his sprained ankle. He is targeting next Tuesday for his return.

Our View:Marion is disappointing fantasy owners yet again this season. He is averaging 12.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He should be a safe play for next week, though.
November 16, 2009
Shawn Marion tweaked his left ankle on the first shot of tonight's game at Milwaukee, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Marion exited the game in the first quarter, and had the ankle re-taped. He is currently sitting out with his shoe and sock off, but the source believes he may be able to return.
November 1, 2009
Shawn Marion posted his first double-double as a member of the Mavericks on Saturday night, scoring 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds, as Dallas beat the Clippers 93-84.

Our View:The Matrix added a steal and two blocks. While not the fantasy superstar he was during his heyday in Phoenix, he is still a very solid overall fantasy player.
October 27, 2009
Shawn Marion looked good in tonight's 102-91 loss to the Wizards at the American Airlines Center, as he generated 16 points, seven rebounds, one steal and a game-high three blocks.

Our View:Marion only averaged 12.9 points per game in 2008-09, but looks to benefit from a fresh start in Dallas. He was apparently not slowed by his strained calf tonight.
October 18, 2009
Shawn Marion is happy to be flying under the radar this preseason, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Marion's arrival in Dallas didn't get nearly the attention of Richard Jefferson's in San Antonio or Vince Carter's in Orlando, but the team believes the four time all star could give them a huge boost. "He looks great to me," Dirk Nowitzki said. "He still plays above the rim, and on defense he's all over the place. I think he does all the intangibles that winning teams need." Those same intangibles Dirk is referring to - offensive rebounding, steals and blocks - still ensure that he's a great third or fourth fantasy forward for your team.
October 15, 2009
The Dallas Morning News reports that Shawn Marion expects to miss seven to ten days with his sore left calf.

Our View:Marion actually tried to play through the injury and ended up "tweaking" it and making things worse. He doesn't want it to linger all season, so the best thing to do is just shut it down completely for the next week or so. He is expected to be healthy for the start of the regular season.
October 12, 2009
Shawn Marion will miss the next few days of practice with a sore left calf, according to the Dallas Morning News. Marion could be forced to miss Thursday's preseason game if the calf is still bothering him.

Our View:The injury isn't anything serious, but the team wants to get it completely cleared up before the regular season starts. He could still play Thursday, but it seems more likely that the team leaves him out all week.
October 11, 2009
Shawn Marion continued his strong preseason in Friday's win over the Grizzlies. The forward scored 15 points in 17 minutes on 7-of-9 shooting.

Our View:Marion has shown indications that his struggles from his time in Miami and Toronto are behind him. He has been set back with a sore calf for most of training camp, but his familiarity with Jason Kidd from their days in Phoenix seems to already be paying off.
October 9, 2009
Shawn Marion had a huge preseason game on Friday, putting up a game-high 26 points in a 123-115 win over the Wizards.

Our View:Marion was 11-of-15 from the field and chipped in with five rebounds, two assists and three steals as well. He's been dealing with a sore right calf, but it didn't appear to hamper him at all on Friday.
October 5, 2009
Shawn Marion is dealing with a sore right calf, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:The ailment is minor, and he is sitting out tonight's game against Orlando as there is no need to rush him back to the court in the preseason.
July 9, 2009
ESPN.com is reporting that a mega-trade has gone down in the NBA on Thursday. In the four-team trade, Shawn Marion will head to Dallas, with the Orlando Magic sending Hedo Turkoglu to the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors will send Marion, Kris Humphries, Nathan Jawai and cash considerations to Dallas, while also sending a future second round draft pick to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Mavericks in turn ship Jerry Stackhouse and cash considerations to the Grizzlies and Devean George and Antoine Wright to Toronto, while the Grizzlies deal Greg Buckner to Dallas.

Our View:Did you get all that? This is a very complex trade between four teams, but the main pieces are Marion to Dallas and Turkoglu in a sign-and-trade to Toronto. Marion should be an excellent fit in Dallas, while the Raptors now have enough money to pay Turkoglu.
July 8, 2009
According to the Dallas Morning News, the Shawn Marion for Jerry Stackhouse trade is happening "barring unforeseen circumstances."

Our View:The move is huge for Dallas, and a salary dump for the Raptors. Marion hasn't put up huge numbers since being traded from the Suns, but is still a highly valuable all around fantasy player. Stackhouse, meanwhile, is expected to be shipped again, and it is highly unlikely he will play for the Raptors next season.
July 6, 2009
The Raptors are apparently in discussion with the Mavericks regarding a sign-and-trade that would involve Shawn Marion, according to CBS Sports.

Our View:This rumor has some weight behind it, as it's supposedly being pushed by both Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Marion's agent Dan Fegan, and would make sense for Toronto as they attempt to shed cap space to facilitate their agreement with Hedo Turkoglu. Still, a third team would likely have to be involved in order to make the cap figures work out, so there's still a lot that has to happen before the sign-and-trade were to actually occur.
July 3, 2009
According to ESPN.com, the Raptor have offered Shawn Marion a four-year deal worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $34 million.

Our View:Marion is not in a rush to accept the offer and apparently the two sides aren't even close on a verbal agreement. Marion is looking for a five-year deal worth around $50 million. That may be a bit overzealous by Marion, who is an aging role player and isn't really in the position to be demanding a ton of money. Right now the Raptors are the only team interested in him.
April 15, 2009
Shawn Marion lit it up in the regular season finale with a whopping 34 points and 11 rebounds. He and the Raptors burned the Bulls 109-98.

Our View:Marion was a precise 15-of-18 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the line. He also added three assists and a steal to go with his lofty point and rebound totals.
April 13, 2009
Shawn Marion accumulated 25 points, 15 rebounds, two blocks, and a steal in the Raptors 97-96 win over the Wizards on Monday. He shot 13-for-23 from the field.

Our View:Marion is finishing the season more inconsistent than he began it. He took only nine shots in Sunday's game but was very aggressive tonight against Washington. He has averaged only 12.4 points per game this season.
April 1, 2009
Shawn Marion scored 17 points and had a game high 15 rebounds Wednesday as the Raptors fended off the Magic 99-95.

Our View:This was a great all-around game for Marion. Along with the double-double, he had six assists and a steal and shot 8-of-13 from the field.
March 27, 2009
Shawn Marion was good for 20 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots and a steal in Toronto's win on Friday night.

Our View:This was one of Marion's better games in the last month. Before Friday he had only totaled two double-doubles and failed to score 20 points in any game in March.
March 3, 2009
Shawn Marion was back at practice on Tuesday and appeared to be near full health after suffering from a flu over the weekend and will likely start tonight against Houston, according to Sportsnet.ca.

Our View:Marion's flu-like symptoms limited him to zero points in just six minutes of action against the Mavericks on Sunday, but it looks like he'll be back to his normal self on Tuesday, meaning you can feel safe with him active in your lineup.
February 27, 2009
Shawn Marion scored 27 points and collected 11 rebounds as the Raptors fell 133-113 on Friday.

Our View:Marion shot 11-for-21 in the game, making it two games now with the Raptors that he has taken at least 20 shots. His season-high in Miami was just 17.
February 22, 2009
Shawn Marion recorded his second consecutive double-double for the Raptors on Sunday, collecting 16 points, 15 rebounds, five assists, and one steal in a 111-100 win over the Knicks.

Our View:Mid-January was the last time that Marion posted back-to-back double-doubles, so he's really finding a niche with the Raptors. Now might be a good time to try and buy low on him in a trade.
February 20, 2009
Shawn Marion recorded a double-double in just his second game with the Raptors. He collected 14 points, 12 rebounds, and one assist.

Our View:This was Marion's first double-double since January 17th with the Heat. He should be the center of Toronto's offense at least until Chris Bosh returns to form, so he should remain in fantasy lineups for the time being.
February 13, 2009
Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks have been dealt from Miami to Toronto in exchange for Jermaine O'Neal and Jamario Moon, according to TSN.

Our View:Marion did not really fit in well in Miami, and could benefit from a fresh start with the Raptors, especially while working alongside Chris Bosh. His fantasy stock looks to be back on the rise.
February 12, 2009
Shawn Marion is questionable for Thursday's game after bruising his eye in practice on Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:For a guy who was the picture of health throughout his many years in Phoenix, Marion sure has been lame in Miami. Already this season he has missed time with a broken nose, back spasms, and a groin injury he suffered while dunking. Keep an eye on reports tomorrow as he stands to be re-evaluated. However, if other reports mention him in trade rumors, bank on him not suiting up. He really does not like that.
February 10, 2009
In his 36 minutes on the floor, Shawn Marion scored 14 points and collected five rebounds and an assist as the Heat fell to the Nuggets 99-82 Tuesday night.

Our View:It appears as if Marion might be thinking about that groin muscle, which may still be a little sore yet. He recorded a double-double in each of the three games leading up to the injury but has not been nearly as successful in his five games back.
February 6, 2009
Shawn Marion's name continues to swirl in trade rumors and he could still be dealt to the Mavericks for Josh Howard, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.

Our View:Marion probably won't make Dallas much better than if they were to just keep Howard, so the Mavs probably won't make this deal. However, last year's Jason Kidd for Devin Harris trade didn't make much sense either and that still happened.
February 4, 2009
Shawn Marion was back in the starting lineup for the Heat on Wednesday, but the Heat fell in Detroit 93-90. Marion finished with 16 points, six rebounds, four steals, a block, and a three-pointer.

Our View:It wasn't a dominating performance, but it's good to see Marion getting involved all over the stat sheet again following his groin injury. Look for continued strong effort from The Matrix as he tries to prove he's worth a big contract this summer.
February 2, 2009
Shawn Marion played just under 30 minutes off of the bench as the Heat defeated the Clippers 119-95 on Monday. He finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, and a steal.

Our View:Marion had missed six of the last seven games for the Heat because of a groin injury but he looks to be ready to contribute now. His fantasy production is down drastically from his career averages, but there's a chance that his season turns around following a trade.
February 2, 2009
The Miami Herald reports that Shawn Marion (strained groin) expects to play on Monday, but he will likely come off of the bench.

Our View:The Matrix has missed six of the last seven games for the Heat, so he may be a little bit rusty. He is averaging 12 points and nine rebounds this season.
February 2, 2009
The Heat are optimistic Shawn Marion can play tonight after missing six of the last seven games with a strained groin, according to the Sun Sentinel.

Our View:Marion could be limited and rusty if cleared to play tonight, and should be held out of lineups until he proves to be productive again.
February 1, 2009
The Associated Press reports that Miami forward Shawn Marion worked out Sunday and could be close to returning from a strained left groin.

Our View:Marion is listed as day-to-day and is likely to be a game-time decision for Monday's game against the Clippers. Fantasy owners should not hold their breath on Marion. Even if he does return, the groin will likely limit his effectiveness.
January 31, 2009
The Sun-Sentinel reports that Shawn Marion will miss his fifth consecutive game on Saturday due to a strained groin.

Our View:The forward had never missed more than three games in any season of his career until he was traded to Miami last season. He is regarded as one of the most valuable commodities of this trade season, but contenders may be backing off of him as long as he remains sidelined.
January 30, 2009
Shawn Marion will remain out of Miami's lineup for Friday's game against the Pacers, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Our View:This will be the fourth consecutive game that Marion has missed due to his strained groin. We'll let you know when he's expected to play again.
January 30, 2009
Shawn Marion is questionable for tonight's game at Indiana while recovering from a strained groin, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:He has missed three straight games with the ailment, meaning he should remain held out of fantasy lineups until he proves to be productive again.
January 28, 2009
Shawn Marion is likely to sit out tonight's outing with Washington while recovering from a strained groin, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:He looks to miss his third straight game, but may be ready to play Friday at Indiana.
January 27, 2009
The AP reports that Heat forward Shawn Marion does not have a return date to come back from his strained groin.

Our View:Marion has had a disappointing season, and trade rumors have surrounded him for some time. He has missed two straight games and will miss even more due to the malady.
January 26, 2009
Shawn Marion will miss his second consecutive game due to a strained left groin, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:This will be the third time in four games that the injury has forced Marion out of the Miami lineup. We'll let you know when he's expected to return.
January 26, 2009
Shawn Marion is questionable for tonight's home game against the Hawks due to his strained groin, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:He has missed two of the last three games with the ailment. He only scored 10 points with four boards over 42 minutes in his last meeting with Atlanta, and should be held out of fantasy lineups to be safe.
January 24, 2009
Shawn Marion missed another game on Saturday for the Heat due to his strained groin, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:We'll keep you posted on Marion's status, but he should remain out of fantasy lineups until he can start playing his typical 35+ minutes again.
January 23, 2009
Shawn Marion is questionable for Saturday's home game against the Magic due to his groin ailment, according to the Sun Sentinel.

Our View:Marion was limited to two points over eight minutes in his last outing with Boston, and should be held out of lineups until he proves to be productive again. He collected four double-doubles this month.
January 22, 2009
The AP reports that Pat Riley admitted to have giving out Shawn Marion's medical records to interested teams.

Our View:Marion's fantasy value has spiraled downward since joining the Heat. Depending on the team he is dealt to, his value could spike in the second half of the season.
January 18, 2009
Shawn Marion was not in the Heat's lineup on Sunday night due to a strained left groin, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Sorry to those of you who thought that missing the game meant that Marion was on his way to Toronto for Jermaine O'Neal. Seems like both players in the deal are currently dealing with injuries (O'Neal has a bruised knee), so it remains to be seen if a deal will be finalized.
January 18, 2009
The Toronto Star confirms reports that Shawn Marion and Jermaine O'Neal remain the centerpieces of a trade that is currently being held up by O'Neal's bruised knee.

Our View:This would seem to be a steal for the Raptors who would get a far more durable player that could fill a hole for them on both ends of the floor. Marion's fantasy production would probably increase playing with Jose Calderon.
January 18, 2009
Shawn Marion scored 20 points and pulled down 10 boards in Miami's 93-86 loss to Houston on Saturday.

Our View:Marion's 67 percent shooting performance Saturday tied a season-high set Dec. 15 against Milwaukee.
January 16, 2009
Shawn Marion has denied that he wants to be traded, according to the Miami Herald. However, it's still a fairly likely scenario as the Heat need to get something for him before he hits free agency.

Our View:The Heat are currently in the playoffs as the six seed, but the team badly needs an upgrade at point guard and a center. Marion's fantasy value could go up if he were to be traded, but we'll keep you posted as it would depend on the team.
January 14, 2009
The Miami Herald reports that the end is near for Shawn Marion in Miami. Marion has the largest expiring contract available and could improve most teams at both ends of the floor. The Heat are in need of a center and a better point guard. They would like to open up more time for Michael Beasley as well.

Our View:If you own Marion, you know that his numbers are drastically down playing for Erik Spoelstra in Miami. There are not many run-and-gun teams in the playoff hunt, but even those teams that are eliminated will be interested in him for his expiring contract.
January 13, 2009
Shawn Marion netted 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting and ripped down 11 rebounds in Miami's win Tuesday.

Our View:This was double double No. 10 for Shawn. His scoring and rebounding totals are both way down this year, but owners are still getting some pretty good production.
January 7, 2009
Shawn Marion scored 25 points and grabbed 13 boards as the Heat fell to the Nuggets 97-108 on Wednesday. The Matrix hit 9-of-16 shots and picked up two steals in the loss.

Our View:It's good to see Marion can still produce these types of numbers, but he has done it very seldom this season. Don't expect this to become a trend, though, as the Heat won't play the Nuggets every night.
January 4, 2009
The Miami Herald reports that Shawn Marion is probable to play in Monday's game against San Antonio after missing Saturday's contest due to back spasms.

Our View:The Matrix is scoring a paltry 11.5 points per game and is proving those who thought he would be lost without Steve Nash right.
