November 15, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki scored 25 points to lead the Mavericks to a 95-90 win over the Pistons. Nowitzki had six rebounds and five assists in the game as well.

Our View:Dirk was 11-for-27 from the field, and he missed both of his three-point attempts. Not the greatest shooting night for the big German, but he always finds away to get his points. He is getting just under 26 a game, so he was right on par tonight.
November 13, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki led all scorers with 20 points in Friday's 89-77 win over the Timberwolves.

Our View:Dirk grabbed 11 rebounds, blocked three shots and dished out a pair of assists in the game as well. He's been a beast this season, scoring at least 20 points in all but one game and came down with at least nine boards in all but two.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 23 points, grabbed six boards and dished out four assists in a 121-103 win over the Rockets on Tuesday.

November 7, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki scored 29 points and added nine rebounds and four assists in the Mavericks' 129-101 win over the Raptors Saturday night.

Our View:Dirk has been a very solid fantasy player for years now, and his 26.2 points per game average this season shows he won't be slowing down any time soon. He grabs his shar of rebounds in addition to his scoring, and he will remain a top option as long as he stays healthy.

Our View:Dirk was all over the place in this one. To compliment his point total he also had five rebounds, three assists, a steal and two blocked shots. He was 8-of-11 from the field and only turned the ball over twice. A fine all-around effort from one of the game's best. He'll be a high-end fantasy pick once again this season.

Our View:Dirk didn't shoot a three-pointer indicating that he will further his trend downwards in that department. He should still go in the top 10 in most fantasy drafts but the added support of Shawn Marion nad Drew Gooden could take away some of his production.

August 14, 2009
The Associated Press reports that Dirk Nowitzki will not play for Germany in next month's European Championship in Poland.

Our View:Mark Cuban has put the kibosh on Dirk's participation in the tournament. Cuban doesn't want his star getting injured, even though Nowitzki has played for the German team for the past ten years. Dirk stated he would have liked to play, but there don't seem to be any hard feelings on either side of this one.
June 24, 2009

Dirk Nowitzki had a game high 32 points on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough as the Mavericks fell to the Nuggets 124-110. Nowitzki added ten rebounds and seven assists.

Our View:Dirk showed in this series why he was named to the All-NBA First Team today. Dirk couldn't do it alone, and unfortunately he was about the only one who showed up every night. It's too bad that his performance was wasted in this series.
May 9, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki had a game-high 33 points and 16 rebounds on Saturday, but the Mavericks fell just short. They dropped a crucial game to the Nuggets 106-105 and are now in a very deep 3-0 series hole.

Our View:Dirk is not the reason the Mavs are essentially out of this series. He was 9-of-19 from the field with two buckets from behind the arc and has put up an astounding 96 total points in the series. He averages 22.7 points per game against Denver in his career, but has put up at least 28 in every game against them this postseason.
May 7, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki's alleged girlfriend/fiancee/mother of his child was arrested for probation violation and theft charges at the superstar's home, according to the Dallas Morning News. Team sources say that the organization had cautioned Dirk about his relationship with the woman in the past and that she was a divisive influence between him and his teammates and family members.

Our View:Dirk's got some personal issues going on right now, and the basketball court is the one place he can avoid those issues. He has played well in the Mavs first two losses to the Nuggets, and we expect him to do the same in the next two games, both of which are in Dallas.
May 6, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki did all he could once again and scored a game-high 35 points and nine rebounds, but the Mavericks fell to the Nuggets 117-105 and now trail 2-0 in the series.

May 3, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki had a game-high 28 points and grabbed ten rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Mavericks fell in Game One to the Nuggets 109-95 on Sunday.

Our View:Dirk was the best player on the floor Sunday, but his Mavs wound up on the wrong side of the box score. Along with his double-double he hit over 50 percent of his shots (12-of-22), had four assists, two steals and a blocked shot. He was held in check for most of the Mavericks first playoff series, but has broken out recently and will need to keep it up if the Mavs are going to have a chance in this series.
May 3, 2009
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that the Nuggets are planning to use as few double-teams on Dirk Nowitzki as possible in their second round series. Kenyon Martin will guard Nowitzki for the most part in the series.

Our View:If K-Mart can contain Dirk without the help of a double, the Nuggets will be in great shape. Martin is long and athletic, but he needs to watch out for foul trouble if he is going to try to guard Dirk by himself.
April 29, 2009

April 23, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki had a game-high 20 points and totaled seven rebounds and two assists in the Mavericks' 88-67 won over the Spurs. The Mavs now hold a 2-1 series lead.

Our View:Dirk was a precise 8-of-12 from the field and produced a solid number of points considering how low scoring the game was. He continues to be the Mavs' go-to-guy and is shaking off the playoff choke artist tag of the past.
April 18, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki scored 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the Mavericks 105-97 win over the Spurs on Saturday night. Dallas leads the series 1-0.

April 17, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki has been selected as the Western Conference Player of the Month for April, according to the Sports Network. Nowitzki averaged 30.3 points and 8.8 rebounds in the month, while leading Dallas to a 6-2 record.

Dirk Nowitzki poured in 31 points in 30 minutes as the Mavericks ra all over the Jazz 130-101 on Wednesday. He hit 12-of-18 shots while contributing seven rebounds, two steals, and a block in the win.

Our View:Dirk is averaging 29.4 points over his last five games and he has shot an impressive 56-of-92 (60.9 percent) in that span. While often overlooked by flashier performances this season, no one wants to run into Dallas with a hot Nowitzki in the playoffs.
April 5, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki had a game high 28 points as the Mavericks toppled the Suns 140-116 on Sunday. He chipped in with three rebounds and four assists as well.

Our View:The points for Dirk were nice on Sunday, but the rebounding total was low. For a man that averages over eight per game for the season, fantasy owners are expecting more than a measly three. His shot was on though, hitting 10-of-12 from the field.
April 3, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki scored 35 points on 14-of-26 shooting Friday night, but the Mavs came out on the short end of a 107-102 decision with Memphis.

February 11, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki shot 8-of-15 from the floor Tuesday night to finish the Mavericks' 118-100 home win over the Kings with 21 points.

Our View:Nowitzki was noticeably hobbled by a sore left knee, which may explain why he didn't absolutely clean up against a team as poor as the Kings. There has been no word yet on how severe the situation may be, or if Dirk will be limited at all in the immediate future.

January 25, 2009

The Dallas Morning News reports that Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has no plans to trade Dirk Nowitzki, calling the star untouchable and that getting rid of the best player in franchise history wouldn't make much sense. "Mark's a loyal guy and I trust him," Nowitzki said.

Our View:Recent weeks have created speculation that Cuban may try to involve Nowitzki in a deal that would shake up the 24-18 Mavericks. However, Nowitzki has stated that he will do what he can to remain in Dallas, even if that means moving to forward.
January 22, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki commented that he wouldn't mind being traded by the Mavericks, according to the Dallas Morning News. Nowitzki said, "When Nash left and Finley left, some guys said they would never trade me and I'm untouchable. I said, 'Screw that.' If they can get Kobe tomorrow or Shaq in his prime five or six years ago, you've got to be stupid not to do it. Whatever Cuban wants to do, he's running the show, it's his franchise, he spends a lot of money every year on us, and if they can get better by getting rid of me and want somebody else, have a shot at a franchise player, then just go right ahead."

Our View:He also admitted that he would like to win a championship with Dallas, and winning one elsewhere likely would not feel the same, as he poured his heart and soul to the franchise for the last 10 years.
January 21, 2009

Our View:Nowitzki is averaging 26.7 points a game in January, including performances of 31, 34, 28, and 44 points. As impressive as it sounds, the 26.7 is down from his December average of 27.8.
January 14, 2009

January 11, 2009
A poor performance by Dirk Nowitzki was a contributing factor to Dallas being upended by the Kings, 102-95.

Our View:Nowitzki scored just 15 points in the loss, and was a hideous 6-of-18 from the field. He's clearly struggling, as in his last three games he's scored 10, 19 and now 15 points.
January 8, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki's teammates chipped in to compensate for the All Star's uncharacteristically poor shooting performance as the Mavericks rallied for a 99-94 home win against the Knicks. The league's fourth-leading scorer, Nowitzki scored just 10 points on 3-of-13 shooting.

Our View:Entering Thursday, Nowitzki averaged 31 points in his previous three games. His 10 points against New York were two shy of a season low.
January 4, 2009
Dirk Nowitzki scored 28 points, but failed to do much of anything else as the Mavericks lost by 20 in Memphis on Sunday. He also had three rebounds and three assists.

Our View:Nowitzki's scoring has been rising ever since a mild November. He has just seven total rebounds in his last two games.

Dirk Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 31 points in Friday's 96-86 win over the Sixers, with four rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks.

Our View:The elite forward reached at least 30 points for the 10th time this season, while leading the Mavericks to their third straight win.

Dirk Nowitzki, who was recently suspended because of a tussle with Jazz forward Matt Harpring, said he'll start to prepare differently when the Mavericks go to Utah, according to NBA.com. "It's more than coincidence, I'd say. I just have to do a better job of keeping my head. That's how they play there. They don't call a lot of fouls there. Ever since Sloan took over that's how they play there," said Nowitzki.

Our View:It's funny that Dirk would say, "Ever since Sloan took over." Sloan started as head coach of the Jazz in 1988, and Nowitzki was a child living in Germany.
