November 20, 2009
The New York Knicks have decided not to sign free agent guard Allen Iverson, according to the New York Times.

Our View:Despite initial interest from team president Donnie Walsh, and coach Mike D'Antoni, they decided in the end that Iverson and all of his baggage were not worth the trouble. While the Knicks don't exactly have good team chemistry right now, A.I. would have almost certainly further sullied it.
November 19, 2009
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that former Memphis guard Allen Iverson has cleared waivers and is free to sign with any team. Iverson reportedly has received some interest from other teams in the league.

Our View:The Knicks appear to be the most likely destination, but the Heat and the Bobcats have also showed a bit of interest. It looks like he will find another home soon, and hopefully it will be more smooth than his stint with the Grizzlies.
November 19, 2009
The Knicks are expected to make Allen Iverson an offer if he goes unclaimed before Thursday's 5:00 p.m. deadline for him to clear waivers, according to the New York Post.

Our View:The Knicks were uninterested in Iverson over the summer, but after getting off to a 2-9 start this season, they have reconsidered their answer to "The Answer." The Heat and Bobcats are also believed to be interested.
November 19, 2009
The Heat are reportedly pursuing free agent guard Allen Iverson, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:They are "hot" after him, to be exact. The Knicks are also said to be interested, and Iverson may suddenly find himself with more potential landing spots this time around than he did last summer.
November 17, 2009
The New York Post is reporting that the Knicks might be willing to give guard Allen Iverson a look when he clears waivers. Iverson was released by the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

Our View:This looks like a long shot, as the Knicks showed very little interest in Iverson over the summer. If they do give him a chance, he will be in very much the same situation that he was in Memphis: coming off the bench for a team that isn't very good. The only difference is that the Knicks play in the bright lights of New York, and the Grizzlies play in obscurity in Memphis.
November 16, 2009
Allen Iverson is expected to be waived by Memphis Monday, according to ESPN.

Our View:The Grizzlies stated that they terminated Iverson's one-year contract, and the move was mutual. He will become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday night if he clears waivers.
November 9, 2009
SI.com is reporting that Grizzies' owner Michael Heisley has no idea what the future holds for disgruntled guard Allen Iverson. Heisley said he hopes Iverson returns to the team soon, but that the guard is dealing with some personal issues.

Our View:There has been some speculation that Iverson will retire, but nobody seems to know what he is thinking right now. If the owner of the team doesn't know anything, there's a good chance that we won't know anything until Iverson makes his final decision.
November 9, 2009
Newsday speculates that disgruntled Grizzlies guard Allen Iverson could be a fit on the Knicks.

Our View:Iverson would make 100 times more sense in New York than Memphis, but the Knicks had the chance to sign him last summer and passed. He would be a mega-upgrade over Chris Duhon at point guard, as well, but for now, consider this unlikely.
November 9, 2009
The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that disgruntled guard Allen Iverson is considering retirement.

Our View:If true, it would be one of the more inglorious ends imaginable to a Hall-of-Fame career. In addition to his gripes with new his coach and new franchise, Iverson is also reportedly dealing with a serious family issue. If NBA fans are lucky, the 34-year-old A.I. will learn to accept his new bench role with some dignity and not call it quits.
November 8, 2009
In the wake of his leave of absence from the Grizzlies, Yahoo! Sports speculates that it's possible Allen Iverson has played his last NBA game.

Our View:It's not far-fetched. He has proven to be a cancerous locker room presence on both of his past two teams, and shown a steadfast unwillingness to come off the bench. With the Grizzlies being the only team that showed any real interest in him last summer, it's conceivable no one will sign him if and when Memphis finally jettisons him.
November 7, 2009
According to the Twitter page of basketball writer Marc Spears, Grizzlies' guard Allen Iverson has taken a leave of absence from the team. The leave is not believed to be basketball related, and his return in uncertain.

Our View:Iverson has not been waived by the team, so it looks like he has just decided he doesn't want to play in Memphis anymore. This can't be viewed as a surprise, as AI has complained constantly since the season started, but we will have to see what happens with this situation going forward. Needless to say, this isn't good for AI in the fantasy world.
November 3, 2009
Allen Iverson is very displeased with the lack of playing time he received in his Grizzlies debut on Monday, according to AOL Fanhouse.

Our View:"I had no problems (with the hamstring that had kept him out at the beginning of the season)," he said. "I had a problem with my butt from sitting on that bench so long. That's the only thing I got a problem with." Why, why, why did the Grizzlies choose to go down this path? Iverson has proven clinically incapable of understanding the arts of aging gracefully and sharing the ball, so it still defies logic that a team with O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay on its roster would sign a player that is both so selfish and clueless. A.I. may eventually force his way into Memphis' starting lineup, but it will be for the benefit of no one but himself.
November 2, 2009
Allen Iverson (hamstring) has tweeted that he will make his Grizzlies debut on Monday night against the Kings.

Our View:Here we go. Tonight will be fantasy owners' first look at how A.I. affects the Grizzlies' chemistry and the value of both O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay. Considering his checkered past, the first bet would be negatively on both fronts.
November 1, 2009
Allen Iverson is expected to make his Grizzlies debut on Monday in Sacramento, according to the AP. He has missed the first three games of the season with a strained hamstring.

Our View:Iverson may get off to a slow start as he has missed nearly all of the preseason. He will be in a three-man rotation with O.J. Mayo and Mike Conley. He still has a lot of fantasy potential, but it could be a while before he settles into a rhythm with his new team.
October 29, 2009
Allen Iverson participated in a full-contact practice Thursday, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Our View:This is encouraging as he is recovering from a partially-torn left hamstring, but is not scheduled to return to the court for Friday's game against Toronto. He is day-to-day, and may play Monday against Sacramento.
October 28, 2009
Allen Iverson has said he will not "accept" coming off of the bench for the Grizzlies this season, according to MLive.com.

Our View:Ohh boy. Either the Grizzlies know something we don't, or A.I. is primed and ready to stunt the growth of O.J. Mayo, Mike Conley and Rudy Gay all at once. Stay tuned.
October 25, 2009
Back-tracking on a previous statement, Allen Iverson (hamstring) now sounds optimistic that he will play in the Grizzlies' season opener this week, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Our View:"If it's up to me, I'll play," he said. "I feel like I can go." Stay tuned, but know that no matter what, his fantasy value is in line for another serious nosedive this season as he comes off Memphis' bench.
October 23, 2009
Battling a hamstring injury, Allen Iverson says it is a "longshot" that he will be ready for Memphis' season opener against the Pistons next Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:A.I. is beginning the season as a bench player. That, coupled with his injury and advancing age, don't make him much more than a late-round option good for only points.
October 21, 2009
Mlive.com reports that Allen Iverson will come off the bench at the beginning of the season for the Grizzlies.

Our View:Iverson is dealing with a torn left hamstring and hasn't practiced since October 4th. Not only will he be rusty when he returns, he won't know any of the plays or how to fit into the Grizzlies system. He has yet to be cleared for workouts, so this move obviously makes sense for Memphis, but there is no doubt that Iverson won't be happy about it. The reason he refused to play with the Pistons last year was because he didn't think he should be a bench player, so get ready for more of the same this season. Let the pouting begin.
October 7, 2009
The Associated Press reports that the results of the MRI on Allen Iverson's left hamstring revealed a partial tear that will keep him out up to three weeks.

Our View:This means Iverson will miss the entire preseason if the timetable is correct, and his status for the season opener is now in doubt. Iverson, of course, says he'll be ready in time, but we're skeptical. If he does play he'll likely be very rusty.
October 6, 2009
A hamstring injury will keep Allen Iverson from making his Grizzlies' preseason debut on Tuesday, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Our View:He will not play on Wednesday, either, after injuring the hamstring during a Sunday scrimmage at Grizzlies training camp. He is scheduled for an MRI on Wednesday.
September 20, 2009
SlamOnline.com is reporting that Allen Iverson considered playing in Europe next season before signing with the Memphis Grizzlies. Iverson was overseas touring for Reebok, and he enjoyed Spain very much.

Our View:There had been some talk of Iverson playing in Europe, but he wasn't going to pass on the NBA if he had an opportunity. It's not out of the question that he could play overseas one day, but this year he will be in Memphis.
September 9, 2009
According to the Memphis Commercial-Appeal, Allen Iverson has agreed to a one-year deal with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Our View:Iverson's contract will pay him $3.5 million and is apparently loaded with incentives. He will likely come off the bench, but could steal playing time from O.J. Mayo and Mike Conley. The always entertaining guard had this to say about his decision to play for the Grizzlies via Twitter, "God Chose Memphis as the place that I will continue my career. I met with Mr. Heinsley, Chris Wallace and my next head coach Lionel Hollins. I feel that they are committed to developing a winner and I know that I can help them to accomplish that. I feel that I can trust them." Let's just hope God has motivated him enough that he'll actually try this season.
September 7, 2009
ESPN.com is reporting that Allen Iverson is expected to meet with Grizzlies' officials on Monday. Iverson is still mulling Memphis's one-year, $3.5 million offer.

Our View:This meeting looks to be a sign that things are getting close between the two sides. If AI likes what he hears on Monday, an announcement could be made very soon. Stay tuned for the conclusion of the Allen Iverson saga.
September 3, 2009
The Grizzlies are only going to give Allen Iverson a couple more weeks to accept or reject their current contract offer, according to WMCTV. The offer is believed to be worth $3.5 million for one season.

Our View:Iverson is still trying to get something worked out with the Bobcats and possibly the Heat. He would like to find a starting job, and that is not guaranteed with Memphis. In their original offer, they stressed that he would have to accept a role off of the bench.
August 26, 2009
Allen Iverson said on his Twitter page on Wednesday that he and his agent have received a contract offer from the Memphis Grizzlies. Iverson is also reportedly drawing interest from Charlotte.

Our View:It was believed that Iverson was close to agreeing to a deal with the Bobcats, but apparently the Grizz have thrown their hats in the ring as well. Iverson tells us to stay tuned on the post, so that's exactly what we will do. We will update his status when it is released.
August 23, 2009
According to a report at the Charlotte Observer, free agent guard Allen Iverson has not agreed to a contract with the Bobcats, as reported by Dime Magazine. The article suggests that a deal may be close, but it is not done at this time.

Our View:The deal may not be done yet, but it looks like it will happen eventually. Iverson to Charlotts has been rumored for awhile, and we expect it to be official within the next week or so.
August 19, 2009
Updating a previous entry, Allen Iverson is now tweeting that he is close to signing with a team for the 2009-10 season.

Our View:The Answer isn't polite enough to give us an answer as to which team it is, but it's probably safe to assume it's one of the three teams he tweeted about earlier: the Knicks, Bobcats or Heat.
August 19, 2009
Allen Iverson tweeted on Tuesday that he is waiting for either the Knicks, Heat or Bobcats to sign him, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Our View:He also assured fans that he has no plans to retire. A.I. averaged 17.4 points per game in 54 games for the Pistons last year, but was not a good teammate and did not score at anywhere near his career rate. With him being viewed as more selfish than ever by many, it might be the 11th hour before he is finally signed, and likely not as a starter.
August 15, 2009
The Heat are apparently no longer interesed in signing veteran star guard Allen Iverson after acquiring journeyman swingman Quentin Richardson last week, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:Iverson is running out of options, and it looks like he's going to have buck up and accept a reserve role somewhere if he wants to get signed. A precipitous fall for such a talented player.
August 7, 2009
ESPN.com is reporting that Miami head coach Pat Riley has reached out to Allen Iverson to let him know the the Heat are still interested in his services. Iverson is getting interest from the Heat, Knicks, and some teams from overseas.

Our View:Iverson obviously isn't the player he used to be, but he could still be a nice addition to the Heat if they do choose to sign him. Iverson and Wade together would be interesting, but we will have to wait and see what happens.
August 4, 2009
Allen Iverson could play overseas in 2009-10, according to Hoopsworld.com.

Our View:Greek club Olympiacos has reportedly offered A.I. $10 million, over two seasons, the same proposal they recently made to Nate Robinson. The Heat and Knicks are the NBA favorites to land Iverson, but it doesn't appear their offers would be as good as the Greek club's. Iverson has had a rough go on the free agent market because of his stated desires to remain a starter and receive a multi-year payday. It's had to envision one of the league's biggest stars going overseas, but it's very possible if A.I. continues to feel under-appreciated on the market.
July 31, 2009
Knicks president Donnie Walsh met with Allen Iverson's agent, Leon Rose, two weeks ago, according to the New York Daily News. The Knicks are believed to want Ramon Sessions foremost, but if they continue to lose out on free agents, they could revisit adding Iverson to their squad.

Our View:Iverson would be a force in reviving the Knicks, assuming they would start him and put him at the focuse of Mike D'Antoni's offense. Given D'Antoni's difficulties with egos like Stephon Marbury and Eddy Curry, Iverson is probably a few notches down his wishlist.
July 15, 2009
The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that Allen Iverson is unlikely to sign with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Our View:The Clippers are apparently still the favorites for A.I., and are reportedly prepared to offer "The Answer" a one-year deal for their mid-level exception of $5.8 million. He must agree to come off of the bench, however. Even as a sixth man, Iverson should score enough in 2009-10 to be owned in every format.
July 13, 2009
Allen Iverson is reportedly in serious talks with the Clippers, according to Lisa Dillman's (Los Angeles Times) twitter page.

Our View:A source close to Iverson was restricted from commenting further. Eric Gordon would see less minutes per game if the Clippers end up signing Iverson.
July 13, 2009
Allen Iverson would like a full $5.8 million midlevel exception to play for the Miami Heat in 2009-10, but the team is apparently not willing to pay him much more than $2 million, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:What a precipitous fall for "The Answer." One of the NBA's all time greatest scorers would surely be able to receive offers for more than $2 million this offseason had he not acted like such a petulant child for much of his only season in Detroit. Teams with lots of young players, like Miami, are surely leery of his possible bad influence, and A.I. has given no indication he plans to change his shoot first, me first mentality. He will play somewhere in 09-10, but likely for much less money, and much less playing time, than he is hoping for. He will probably score enough to be worth owning in most leagues.
July 2, 2009
The Miami Heat have interest in free agent guard Allen Iverson, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:Despite Iverson's woeful (by his standards), and headache inducing 2008-09 season, he figures to be a hot commodity this summer. He would provide a nice scoring compliment to Dwayne Wade in Miami, provided he can play second fiddle, which is by no means a given.
June 30, 2009
Allen Iverson is reportedly on the Bobcats' radar, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Coach Larry Brown is very fond of Iverson, and the guard is not believed to have any objections to potentially playing in Charlotte. It is hard to gauge how he would fit however, as the club has strong depth at guard with D.J. Augustin, Raymond Felton, Raja Bell and 2009 draft pick Gerald Henderson.
June 5, 2009
According to the Associated Press, free agent Allen Iverson was recently in Charlotte and Bobcats coach Larry Brown said on Friday that he "loves" A.I.

Our View:Still, Brown cautioned that he wasn't sure if either side would be a good fit for each other. That being said, Charlotte still seems like one of the more likely destinations for the moody scorer.
April 29, 2009
The Pistons will bring back Michael Curry as their head coach in 2009-10, president Joe Dumars informs the AP. Curry led the team to a 39-43 record this past season, but the Pistons were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Cavaliers.

Our View:The front office can't blame Curry for the botched Allen Iverson-Chauncey Billups trade. The Pistons are expected to make some major roster changes this summer, and they may as well let Curry continue to work with their younger talents, many of whom could step into larger roles in 2009-10.
April 15, 2009
According to ESPN.com, Allen Iverson will be on the Piston's playoff roster, but won't play.

Our View:The only reason his name will appear is because league rules mandate its inclusion.
April 3, 2009
Allen Iverson will miss the remainder of the season, according to ESPN.

Our View:He was dealing with a back ailment, and was displeased with his bench role with the Pistons.
March 29, 2009
Allen Iverson scored eight points in 17 minutes as he returned from a lengthy absence on Sunday versus Philadelphia.

Our View:Iverson figures to get eased back into a starting role, so while his limited role may not have been confirmed, be cautious of putting him into your starting lineups too soon.
March 29, 2009
Allen Iverson returned to the Pistons' lineup on Sunday after a 16-game absence due to a back injury, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Iverson was inserted into the game with 2:51 left in the first quarter, but it is undetermined as to how much head coach Michael Curry plans to play him.
March 28, 2009
Allen Iverson, who's missed Detroit's past 15 games with a sore back, will travel with Detroit to Washington on Saturday for the first time since Feb. 27, though he's still listed as doubtful, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:"Realistically, Allen probably won't play," head coach Michael Curry said. Still, Iverson did practice on Friday, and it appears his owners will get about two weeks of production out of the former MVP before the season's end.
March 25, 2009
The Detroit News reports that Reggie Miller was critical of Allen Iverson, who will not play in Thursday's game, in Tuesday's TNT broadcast. "I've played a lot of games against Allen Iverson when he was with the Philadelphia 76ers, and he is one of the toughest guys I've ever gone against," Miller said. "But having said that and knowing the information we know, what Arnie Kander is saying, it's almost like (Iverson) is holding this team hostage because he cannot accept the responsibility of coming off the bench. That's sad because he is one of the truly great little men we've ever had in the game."

Our View:He's not alone. There has been plenty of speculation regarding the severity of AI's injury. He has returned to practice, but there has been no timetable set as to when he will return. Iverson has publicly responded to the criticism and seems sincere about the pain and numbness in his back, but nobody really knows but him.
March 24, 2009
Guard Allen Iverson had a court appeal rejected on Tuesday, and he will pay $260,000 to Marlin Godfrey, the AP reports. In 2005, Iverson's bodyguard, Jason Kane, beat up Godfrey in a Washington club. "The evidence in this case supported the jury's finding that Kane attacked Godfrey in a fight that lasted several minutes, and that Iverson stood and watched without attempting to do anything to stop the beating," the federal appeals court says.

Our View:Godfrey and David Anthony Kittrell initially sued Iverson for $20 million, so $260,000 doesn't seem like such a bad deal. The two plaintiffs should just be happy Iverson didn't break out his crossover dribble. We hear that it's a "killer." Sorry, bad joke.
March 23, 2009
Allen Iverson is nearing his return to the court following a bout with a back ailment, according to the Detroit News. The latest test on his back revealed no nerve or structural damage.

Our View:Coach Michael Curry is hoping he can return to practice as early as Monday, and it would take 7-10 days for him to get back into playing shape.
March 22, 2009
The latest test results on Allen Iverson's back came back favorably, according to Michigan Online.

Our View:The timetable for Iverson's return is still unclear, but it is certain that the veteran guard will come back to take on a bench role.
March 21, 2009
Allen Iverson's test on his ailing back was good, according to the Detroit News. Coach Michael Curry said, "The test Friday was good. Hopefully Saturday's tests will be good, too. If both are good, then maybe we can start the process of getting him back doing stuff with Arnie Kander (team physical therapist). That is what he's hoping for and that is what we're hoping for."

Our View:Iverson has been on the shelf since February 26, so he would need a week to 10 days to get back into game-shape. There is belief that the earliest he could play would be March 31 against Cleveland.
March 19, 2009
Allen Iverson is not any closer to returning to the court after visiting doctors at Georgetown Wednesday, according to the Detroit News. He is still dealing with back pain and coach Michael Curry said, "He is going to get tested again Thursday and Friday, two more tests. Then we will see where he is at."

Our View:If Iverson is cleared to resume practicing Saturday (in a best-case scenario), then he would need at least a week to get back into game-shape. The source states that the earliest he could return would be March 31 against the Cavs.
March 18, 2009
Allen Iverson missed Wednesday night's contest and has now sat out ten consecutive games with a sore back, according to MLive.com.

Our View:There is still no timetable for his return. He is set to undergo tests on Thursday and Friday that should provide more insight into his health. The team was optimistic about a Friday return, but that seems like a long shot.
March 18, 2009
The Pistons are awaiting an update on Allen Iverson's sore back, according to the Detroit News. He is meeting with doctor's at Georgetown today.

Our View:There is hope that Iverson could be back as early as Friday against the Clippers.
March 16, 2009
Allen Iverson is slated to return to Georgetown Wednesday to have his ailing back re-evaluated, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:The club is hoping he will be cleared to play, or at least resume practicing, after that. Richard Hamilton has been replacing him in the lineup, but committed 19 turnovers over his last three games.
March 10, 2009
Coach Michael Curry noted that there is nothing new regarding Allen Iverson's back ailment, and he is expected to be on the shelf for at least another week, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:Iverson may hold a bench role upon his return to the court. He is currently being replaced by Richard Hamilton while out.
March 5, 2009
Allen Iverson is willing to accept a role off the Pistons' bench, the Detroit News reports. "My goal is to help this team win a championship and I've said that from the first day I arrived here in Detroit," Iverson said in a statement. "I'm going to do whatever it takes to help us achieve our goals as a team, regardless if I'm starting or coming off the bench."

Our View:Iverson has been slowed by back spasms recently and found out today he will be forced to sit out the next two weeks. He will be replaced by Richard Hamilton.
March 5, 2009
According to the Detroit Free Press Allen Iverson is ahead of schedule and may not miss the entire expected two weeks due to a sore back. He may see time soon coming off the bench.

Our View:Obviously the sooner the better. Keep a close eye on him because a banged up Iverson is still better than most. Richard Hamilton will continue to start in his place.
March 4, 2009
Allen Iverson is expected to be on the shelf for at least two weeks while recovering from a sore back, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:Iverson is expected to return to Georgetown to be re-evaluated following the two-week period, and he will start treatment for his back when he returns to Detroit tomorrow.
March 3, 2009
Allen Iverson will miss his third straight game tonight against the Nuggets due to a stiff back, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:He will be examined Wednesday, after which the Pistons hope to get a better idea of his status. Iverson will be used off the bench when he is set to return to action.
March 2, 2009
Updating a previous report, Allen Iverson is going to miss his third straight game tonight due to a stiff back, according to ESPN.

Our View:Iverson will visit a specialist in Washington to get a second opinion on his ailment, which he fears may be more serious than initially believed.
March 2, 2009
Allen Iverson is feeling better while recovering from a stiff back, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:He may be able to return to the court Tuesday against the Nuggets, who he scored 23 points against in his last meeting. We will keep you posted on his status.
March 1, 2009
Updating an earlier report, Allen Iverson has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Boston, according to the Detroit News. The MRI performed on his back Friday came back negative, and Iverson is hopeful he can play Tuesday against Denver.

Our View:As reported before, Richard Hamilton will once again make the start in Iverson's absence.
March 1, 2009
According to the Associated Press, Allen Iverson (back spasms) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Boston.

Our View:Richard Hamilton is expected to start in Iverson's place. He scored a game-high 31 points in Detroit's win over Orlando Friday night. It was his first start since Jan. 19.
February 28, 2009
Allen Iverson's MRI on his ailing back was negative, according to the Associated Press. He has been suffering from back spasms.

Our View:This is good news, but his status for Sunday's outing with Boston is yet to be determined.
February 27, 2009
MLive.com reports that Allen Iverson will miss Friday's game in Orlando due to back spasms. Richard Hamilton will start in his place.

Our View:It used to take major fractures to keep Iverson out of a game, but in the midst of a down season, even the ever-mysterious back spasm is seeming to get the best of him. If the Pistons are victorious tonight against the Magic, don't be shocked to see this injury linger.
February 26, 2009
Allen Iverson is questionable for Friday's game against the Magic while dealing with a strained back, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Our View:Iverson has been suffering through a disappointing season, as he is only shooting 41.9 percent from the floor, and only made 28 three-pointers all season. We will keep you posted on his status for tomorrow.
February 25, 2009
MLive.com reports that Allen Iverson left Wednesday's game with a stiff back and he does not plan on returning.

Our View:The soon-to-be free agent is having his worst season at the worst possible time. The Pistons have lost six in a row and 15 of their last 20. Iverson has been known to play through a lot of injuries, but don't be surprised if he rests this one for a few games.
February 25, 2009
Allen Iverson is suffering from pain after twisting his back during Tuesday's battle with Miami, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:His status for tonight's game at New Orleans is yet to be determined. Stay tuned for updates.
February 25, 2009
NBA Hall of Famer Dave Bing advanced to a May 5th runoff election as he is vying for the office of Mayor of the City of Detroit on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Bing was one of 15 candidates competing in the special election. Bing received the most votes, 26,327 or nearly 29 percent of the total votes cast.
February 24, 2009
Allen Iverson scored 22 points on 8-of-18 shooting as the Pistons lost to the Heat 103-91 on Tuesday.

Our View:Iverson has been up and down but is still having a solid month. The Pistons are not however, losing seven straight.
February 22, 2009
Allen Iverson scored only 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting as the Pistons fell to the Cavs 99-78 to lose for the sixth straight time.

Our View:Iverson had been having a good month, though it was somewhat inconsistent, and this is an example of that. He's scored 28, 10, 31, and 16 points in his last four games.
February 19, 2009
Allen Iverson scored a game-high 31 points in the Pistons' 83-79 loss to the Spurs on Thursday.

Our View:Iverson was 13-of-28 from the floor, adding seven assists in the loss. He continues to be a fantasy standout.

Allen Iverson returned from the flu to score 28 points, but Detroit fell at home to Atlanta 99-95 on Wednesday. He had three assists, three steals, and just one turnover in nearly 40 minutes of action.

Our View:Iverson has now scored more than 25 points in each of his last three games, which is a great sign for fantasy owners. In those games, he has played substantially more minutes than Rodney Stuckey.

Updating an earlier report, Pistons guard Allen Iverson will not play Tuesday night against Chicago due to the flu, according to the Detroit News. Richard Hamilton will be inserted into the lineup to take Iverson's place.

Our View:Fellow guard Will Bynum was also stricken with a flu bug, but he will dress for tonight's game. If there were ever a time to miss a game, this would be it for AI. Of the 29 teams Detroit has played this season, Chicago has held Iverson to the least amount of points.

Allen Iverson was absent from the morning shootaround but is still expected to start tonight against the Bulls, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Our View:He is dealing with an illness, but should be safe to consider for fantasy lineups. Iverson averages 28.7 points over 36 career meetings with Chicago.
February 8, 2009
Allen Iverson recorded 25 points on Sunday to go with seven assists, four steals, and three rebounds in a 107-97 loss to the Suns.

Our View:Iverson has started to score with consistency again, posting 20+ points in three of Detroit's last four games.
February 7, 2009
Allen Iverson scored 27 points, dished out nine dimes, and grabbed five boards and two steals as the Pistons defeated the Bucks 126-121 on Saturday.

Our View:This was just the second time in nine games that The Answer has gone for more than 20 points. The game also marked the most assists he totaled since January 4. He played a lot of point guard tonight as Rodney Stuckey struggled throughout the game.
February 4, 2009
Allen Iverson hit just 3-of-10 from the field and finished Wednesday's win over the Heat with 11 points, two assists, two steals, and four turnovers.

Our View:This marks the third time in seven games that The Answer has been held to 11 points. He simply does not seem comfortable in a Pistons uniform at this point in the season. It's been long-speculated that Iverson is not much of a team-player, and that's certainly looking like the case these days.
February 1, 2009
Allen Iverson shot just 9-of-19 from the field on Sunday, but he finished with a team-high 22 points in Detroit's 90-80 loss to Cleveland. He added three steals and an assist.

Our View:If Detroit is going to make a push for the playoffs, the team needs Iverson to revert back to his old form, at least to the way he was playing earlier this season. He recorded season-lows in points, assists, and steals in January and the Pistons posted a 6-9 record.
January 30, 2009
Allen Iverson racked up 19 points, four rebounds, and one assist in Friday's loss to Boston.

Our View:Iverson passed Charles Barkely on the NBA's all-time scoring list on Friday, putting him 16th all-time with 23,759 points. He only needs about 1,000 more points to catch Patrick Ewing.
January 23, 2009
Allen Iverson was just 3-of-9 from the floor and finished with one assist in Detroit's lackluster 112-91 loss at home to Dallas.

Our View:As the Pistons have gone cold in January, so has The Answer. Iverson has shot better than 50 percent from the field just once this month and has made only five of his 25 attempts from behind the three-point line. Detroit is 5-7 this month.
January 22, 2009
The fans have selected Allen Iverson to his 10th straight All-Star game on Thursday, according to TNT. He will start for the Eastern Conference.

Our View:This selection is rather remarkable for a number of reasons. First, he was listed on the Western Conference side of the ballot from his time he played in Denver. Second, he has been a source of controversy since arriving in Detroit and he recently came close to being removed from their starting lineup. Third, he is having his worst statistical season of his career.

Despite a sore left knee, Allen Iverson hit 11-of-18 shots and finished with 27 points to go with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals as the Pistons broke a five-game losing streak with a 87-79 win in Memphis on Monday.

Our View:TNT announcers reported throughout the game that Pistons officials will discuss on Tuesday whether to remove Iverson or Richard Hamilton out of the starting lineup. It's possible that neither player's fantasy value will suffer with the move as they would see as many, if not more, shots with the Pistons defensive minded second unit.
January 19, 2009
Updating an earlier report, Allen Iverson will be a game-time call for Monday's battle against the Grizzlies due to his ailing left knee, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:Iverson averages 24.8 points over 25 career meetings with Memphis, and is worth penciling into lineups if given the green light to play.
January 19, 2009
Allen Iverson commented on the Pistons' current slump, according to the Detroit News. Iverson said, "Character is going to come into play. It should have already. We are going to see what guys are made of. What type of players we are, what type of professionals we are, what type of teammates we are toward each other. This is the time we find out what type of team we are. Guys in this situation could start to point fingers and play the blame game."

Our View:The Pistons have lost five straight games and Iverson is only averaging 14.6 points over the span. But the club could get back on track today with a favorable match-up against Memphis, who Iverson averages 24.8 points against in his career (over 25 meetings). Iverson should be penciled into lineups, if his ailing left knee allows him to play.
January 16, 2009
Allen Iverson was held in check on Friday, scoring just 14 points to go with three steals, two assists, and one rebound.

Our View:Iverson has been held under 20 points in three of his last four games as the Pistons continue to struggle. Detroit has dropped four straight.
January 14, 2009
Allen Iverson had 23 points, seven assists, and two blocks as the Pistons fell in overtime 106-110 on Wednesday. He shot 9-for-19 from the field.

Our View:The Pistons are now just 18-15 with The Answer and you can expect coach Michael Curry to shake things up soon. He has been reluctant to bring either Iverson or Richard Hamilton off of the bench, but he may elect to do so in the near future. Hamilton recently volunteered to be the Pistons' sixth-man.
January 13, 2009
Despite reports saying Pistons coach Michael Curry could bring either Allen Iverson or Rip Hamilton off the bench, he has decided against it, and both will start Tuesday, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:The reason why Curry was pondering this is to keep Rodney Stuckey in the starting lineup, which gives the team a small five-some of Stuckey, Iverson, Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Rasheed Wallace. However, Curry also said either Iverson or Hamilton will be the first ones to be subbed for to match up with bigger lineups.
January 12, 2009
Pistons coach Mike Curry could ask Allen Iverson or Richard Hamilton to come off the bench in the near future, according to Mlive.com.

Our View:This may not decrease the fantasy value of either player if they're used like the Mavericks have been using Jason Terry this season. He comes off the Dallas bench and is the Mavs' second leading scorer behind Dirk Nowitzki.
January 10, 2009
Allen Iverson had a poor shooting night on Saturday, hitting just 4-of-13 shots from the field to finish with 11 points. He added five assists, but it wasn't nearly enough as the Jazz destroyed the Pistons 99-82.

Our View:Iverson only played 30 minutes due to the game getting out of hand, so he can be expected to bounce back in next outing against Charlotte on Tuesday.
January 9, 2009
Allen Iverson led his new team over his old team with 23 points, four boards, three assists, and two steals as the Pistons won 93-90 in Denver on Friday.

Our View:Making the win more impressive is that Detroit was without Richard Hamilton (groin) and Rasheed Wallace (foot). Iverson's numbers are slowly but surely improving.
January 8, 2009
Pistons guard Allen Iverson says he's treating Friday night's game against his former team like any other contest, according to the Associated Press. "It's just another game for me. I've been in the league 13 years," Iverson said of Detroit's game with the Denver Nuggets. "It's going to be good to be back with the fans that had supported me. I have a lot of good memories from playing there."

Our View:Denver acquired Iverson from Philadelphia halfway through the 2006-07 season on the assumption he and Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony would help bring a championship to the franchise. Instead, the title never materialized and Iverson's 22-month stay in the Mile High City ended when Denver traded him to Detroit prior to this season.
January 4, 2009
Allen Iverson hit the game-winning shot as the Pistons defeated the Clippers 88-87 on Sunday. He finished with 18 points and 10 assists on 7-of-22 shooting.

Our View:The Answer shot poorly but hit the shot when he needed to. He is averaging 18.2 points and 5.4 assists since joining the Pistons.
