February 2, 2010 Searching for a "younger, less expensive guard and an expiring contract" in return, the Celtics have placed guard Ray Allen on the trading block, according to Yahoo! Sports. Our View:He has a $20 million expriing contract, and with the Celtics having no interest in re-signing him next summer, they would like to get something in return for him instead of simply letting him walk. Although the team was previously linked to Monta Ellis, that speculation proved to be unfounded. Expect some more concrete scenarios to emerge in the coming days. |

January 26, 2010 CSN New England is reporting that Ray Allen could be shipped to Golden State as part of a deal for super-talented young guard Monta Ellis. Our View:Allen, while obviously part of the Celtics' dominant core, is aging and has an expiring contract. This move would help the Warriors clear cap space next summer, and make the Celtics younger. It seems a bit far-fetched that the C's would make this the moment where they tinkered with their ballyhooed trio of stars, but it would make sense. Stay tuned. |
