Updating a previous report, Shaquille O'Neal will miss Wednesday's game against the Wizards with a shoulder injury, according to Brian Windhorst on Twitter.

Our View:Shaq is being held out of Tuesday's game as well, and it appears the Cavs are being careful with his condition. He wasn't expected to miss much time, but there's a chance it's more severe than originally thought. Zydrunas Ilgauskas will continue to start in Sahq's place, and is worth a look in fantasy leagues.
November 17, 2009
Cavs' beat writer Brian Windhorst is reporting on Twitter that center Shaquille O'Neal will not play in Tuesday game against the Warriors. Shaq is dealing with a shoulder injury.

Our View:Shaq's injury isn't expected to keep him out much longer, but this will be the second consecutive game he has missed. Zydrunas Ilgauskas will see significant minutes tonight and is probably a decent play while Shaq is out.
November 16, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal did not practice on Monday, and is unlikely to play on Tuesday as he deals with a strained shoulder, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Our View:He also sat out Saturday with the ailment. Zydrunas Ilgauskas will start if Shaq is unable to go.
November 14, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal will miss tonight's game against Utah due to a strained shoulder, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Zydrunas Ilgauskas is expected to start at center in his absence. Shaq started the previous nine games.
November 5, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal put up a double-double in Thursday's 86-85 loss to the Bulls.

Our View:Shaq managed 14 points and 10 rebounds in his 31 minutes of play and threw up his arms to block an impressive five shots in the contest. He hit 7-of-13 shots from the field, but amazingly was never fouled and failed to reach the free throw line. The double-double was his second of the season.
November 3, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal looked good in tonight's 102-90 win over the Wizards, as he notched 21 points, eight boards, three assists and one block.

Our View:Shaq finally had a solid outing for fantasy owners after failing to top eight points in each of his previous two games.
October 29, 2009
The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Cavs' coach Mike Brown plans to play big men Shaquille O'Neal and Zydrunas Ilgauskas at the same time this season. Brown said he will experiment with both players on the floor before he makes a decision on how often to employ the strategy.

Our View:Talk about some size on the front line. When Big Z and Shaq are out there at the same time, expect plenty of half-court offense by the Cavs and plenty of running by the opponent. It seems like a good idea in short spurts, but you can't afford to have both players out there together for long stretches.
October 27, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal recorded a double-double in tonight's 95-89 loss to Boston at Quicken Loans Arena, with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He also had one assist and one block over 28:48 minutes of action.

Our View:Shaq fared fine in his regular season debut with Cleveland, and should be in store for a solid year as long as he can avoid the injury bug.
October 21, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal scored 16 points and grabbed five rebounds in just over 20 minutes as the Cavs fell to the Celtics on Wednesday. Shaq had one assist and one blocked shot in the contest as well.

Our View:Shaq looked good in his limited time tonight, and he has been very solid so far in the preseason. His minutes will increase when the regular season starts, and he should be a serviceable fantasy center as long as his health stays in tact.
October 14, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal chipped in 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting on Wednesday in the Cavs' 109-104 loss to the Wizards. Shaq added six rebounds and a steal in the game.

Our View:Shaq played just under 20 minutes tonight, and he did it without his buddy Lebron James, who was out with the flu. Shaq looks poised for a nice season, especially since he has a better chance to stay healthy while splitting time with Zydrunas Ilgauskas.
September 18, 2009
According to Howard Beck, NBA writer for the New York Times, the league has formally declared a lockout of the referees. More details are to be released in the coming hours.

Our View:This is not good for the league, although it isn't much of a surprise. Players such as Shaq have sided with the refs, citing how important they are to the safety of the players, but we will obviously keep you updated as the news is released.

ESPN.com is reporting that the Suns have agreed to a deal that will send Shaquille O'Neal to Cleveland. The Suns will receive Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic, as well as the 46th pick in Thursday's NBA draft and $500,000, in the trade. The deal is expected to be finalized on Thursday.

Our View:The Cavs were also in talks with the Hornets about Tyson Chandler, but the team ultimately felt Shaq was a better fit given that he has just one year left on his contract and won't prevent them from making a run at a big-time free agent next summer. This deal gives the Cavs a dominant force in a middle, and it's basically an admission by the Suns that they screwed up when they traded Shawn Marion for Shaq last February.
June 24, 2009
There is a rumor swirling that the Cavs are close to acquiring Shaquille O'Neal from the Suns, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Our View:The Suns would reportedly have to take Ben Wallace (and his $14MM salary for 2009-10) and Sasha Pavlovic as part of the deal. The Suns also covet draft picks and cash considerations. They may be looking to involve a third team in a trade as well.
June 19, 2009
Hoopsworld.com is reporting that the proposed deal between the Suns and Cavaliers for Shaquille O'Neal is dead.

Our View:Apparently the Suns were never serious about Cleveland's offer of Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic, and it has been Shaq himself creating some of the rumors. There's a still a good chance he could be traded this summer, Hoopsworld says 15 teams have contacted the Suns, but it is apparently going to take a lot more than the terrible twosome offered by the Cavs.
June 15, 2009
The Dallas Morning News reports that the Mavericks could match the Cavaliers offer for Shaquille O'Neal by offering Erick Dampier and Jerry Stackhouse. The Cavs are believed to be offering Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic.

Our View:Stackhouse is only guaranteed $2 million of his $7 million salary next season, meaning the Suns would save even more money. They would also be getting a better center in return than Wallace. Unless Wallace is willing to accept a buyout, this deal would seem to make more sense - minus the fact that both teams play in the Western Conference.
June 14, 2009
The Arizona Republic is reporting that the Suns and Cavaliers have resumed trade talks centered around Shaquille O'Neal. The rumour has Shaq heading to Cleveland in exchange for Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic.

Our View:Shaq would seem to be a good fit in Cleveland, and the team has to show LeBron that they are serous about building around him. It is likely Shaq plays somewhere other than Phoenix next season, but only time will tell if he end up in Cleveland.
June 3, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal tweeted that he wants Kobe Bryant to win his fourth ring. He says to "spread da word."

Our View:We wouldn't want to upset Shaq, so spread the word we will. However, this probably has less to do with Kobe than it does Dwight Howard. Shaq has disrespected Howard (and coach Stan Van Gundy) all season long, and he's been quoted as saying he doesn't want to discuss Howard until he gets some rings. Oh yeah, Shaq failed to land a ring with the Magic, which Howard could do in the coming weeks.
May 19, 2009
According to the Miami Herald, Shaquille O'Neal is taking a crash course in broadcasting at Syracuse University.

Our View:The big man is preparing for his next career. He's got a lot of charisma and is actually a pretty funny guy, so he could be a decent color man. He's got to be better than Charles Barkley right? As long as they can find a chair that can support him, this seems like a good move for Shaq down the road.
May 5, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal will appear on national television on Tuesday as a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show, according to The Arizona Republic.

Our View:It's a slow news day. Hopefully he doesn't jump up on the couch like Tom Cruise did - we doubt the piece of furniture could withstand it.
April 11, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal only played 18 minutes on Saturday, but still managed a double-double in the Suns' 110-97 win over Minnesota. He amassed ten points and ten rebounds.

Our View:This was Shaq's second double-double in his last three games. The aging big-man has been solid this season averaging almost 18 points per game to compliment his game-day rebound total of 8.5.
April 7, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal would reportedly like to play for the Mavericks, according to DallasBasketball.com.

Our View:Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban likes O'Neal and tried to reel him in the last two times he has been traded. He is averaging 18 points and 8.6 boards this season, and is still an effective center.
April 2, 2009
Sahquille O'Neal scored 22 points and snatched ten boards in the Suns 144-109 win over the Rockets on Wednesday.

Our View:Shaq now has five double-doubles in his last eight games and the big man has topped 20 points eight times in the last month.
March 28, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal and the Suns fell to the Jazz 104-99 in overtime, but he scored 16 points and grabbed 10 boards.

Our View:O'Neal also had an uncommon four steals in the contest. The double-double was O'Neal's fourth in his last six games, but just fifth this month.
March 27, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal dropped 20 points on the Blazers Thursday, but it wasn't enough as the Suns fell 129-109. Shaq added seven rebounds and four assists as well.

Our View:Shaq was 9-of-14 shooting and perfect from the free throw line. It appears he did all he could, but the Suns just didn't have the juice. Still, an all around solid night for the big man.
March 22, 2009
With his 13 points in Phoenix's win over Washington on Saturday, center Shaquille O'Neal surpassed Moses Malone to reach number five on the NBA's all-time scoring list, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Now with 27,411 points in his career, O'Neal will likely retire while occupying the No. 5 slot. He is currently 4,008 points behind fourth-place Wilt Chamberlain.
March 19, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Suns 126-116 win over the 76ers.

Our View:Shaq stepped up his minutes as he played almost 40 on the night and had a solid all-around game. He even hit 2-of-5 free throws. Who knew?
March 15, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal needed only 24 minutes to hammer down 26 points as the Warriors had the best seats in a 154-130 four quarter beat down on Sunday. Shaq also had four rebounds

Our View:Shaq's minutes are noticeably on the decline. Hopefully he can continue to be so efficient in the time he is on the court, but it won't come any easier than it did tonight.
March 5, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal recently tore into Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy after Van Gundy accused him of "flopping" in an effort to draw a foul during the Suns' loss to Orlando Tuesday night, according to the Sun-Sentinel. In a interview with the Phoenix media, O'Neal referred to Van Gundy as a "bum" and a "nobody" and said "all the players hate him."

Our View:Van Gundy, who coached O'Neal for two seasons in Miami, responded by saying he was amused by the whole situation and that the veteran center should know what it's like to play against "floppers."
March 4, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal fouled out in 30 minutes in his first game in Miami since being traded from there last season. He finished Wednesday's loss with 22 points, eight rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.

Our View:Shaw excelled in two games without Nash, but he has not been exceptional in either of his point guard's two games since returning. He has hit 50-of-69 field goals (72.5 percent) over his last four games.
March 1, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal scored a team-high 33 points on Sunday to lead the Suns over Kobe's Lakers by a score of 118-111. He also chipped in seven rebounds and three assists.

Our View:This gives Shaq 88 points in his last two games, both of which have been victories for Phoenix.
February 27, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal hit 20-of-25 field goals and finished with 45 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals and the Suns beat the Raptors 133-113 on Friday. The Suns were without Steve Nash.

Our View:Andrea Bargnani on Shaq was probably one of the more humorous moments of the season. Bargnani gives up nearly 150 poundes to The Diesel and clearly had no answer for him tonight.
February 24, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal pulled down a game-high 11 boards and added 20 points in the Suns' 112-102 win over the Bobcats on Tuesday.

Our View:Shaq Daddy got back on track with a solid effort, after going five straight games without at least ten rebounds. It was only the second time in his last seven games that he topped 20 points.
February 22, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal and the Suns were blown out by the Celtics, 128-108, with the Big Aristotle putting in just 17 points.

Our View:O'Neal also managed just six rebounds. This marked the fifth straight game he's failed to accumulate at least 10 boards.
February 19, 2009
Yahoo! reports that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns are discussing a deal that would send Shaquille O'Neal to Cleveland for Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic.

Our View:Zydrunas Ilgauskas currently mans the center position for the Cavs and it's debatable whether Shaq would be an upgrade. Wallace starts at power forward, just ahead of Anderson Varejao. All the contracts in the deal being discussed expire at the end of next season.
February 15, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal scored 17 points in 11 minutes off the bench Sunday at the NBA All-Star Game to help the West to an anti-climactic 146-119 victory over the East. He also finished with five rebounds and three assists to earn co-MVP honors along with former teammate Kobe Bryant.

Our View:Not surprisingly, the only thing Shaq didn't do well Sunday evening was shoot free throws, missing three of his four attempts from the line.
February 14, 2009
Coach Phil Jackson commented that he would like to see Shaquille O'Neal return to the Lakers down the road, according to the LA Daily News. Jackson said, "We know that there is always a chance you will have an opportunity to have a player like that. I was thinking about Robert Parish coming and playing one season with the Chicago Bulls. Playing a limited role, but being an influence on a team when he is 40 years old. So, we always say these old crocodiles, these alligators that patrol the lanes, have a long life span. So it would be great to see O'Neal back someday and, you know, coaching him."

Our View:The Lakers could actually use O'Neal right now with Andrew Bynum on the shelf. He can still make an impact as he is averaging 17.3 points and 8.9 boards per contest.
February 11, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal played nearly 34 minutes but was held to just 11 points, five rebounds, four turnovers, and two blocks as the Suns fell to the Cavaliers 109-92 on Wednesday.

Our View:Shaq is being shopped around right now, but it will be hard to get another owner to bite. He has to shoulder most of the blame for the rapid demise of the Suns, and he'll make another $20 million next season.
February 11, 2009
Yahoo! Sports reports that there is no interest in the league for acquiring Shaquille O'Neal in a trade.

Our View:Shaq is slated to make $20 million next season, but that is not an entirely negative fact. That deal would expire just in time for the ballyhooed free-agent class of 2010. Still, Shaq's presence completely transforms a team and he sure didn't make the Suns any better.
January 19, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal hit 8-of-13 shots to finish with 16 points and 11 rebounds, but the Suns were never close as they fell 104-87 in Boston on Monday.

Our View:This was a good game given the circumstances. It's a bit of a surprise he got 30 minutes of action considering that it was a blowout from the start.
January 18, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal finished Sunday's 117-113 win over the Raptors with 16 points, four rebounds, two assists, and five turnovers.

Our View:The Diesel only played 24 minutes in the game, which obviously limited his productivity. Despite the off day, Shaq is still exceeding expectations this season.
January 16, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal posted 22 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and one steal in Friday's game against the Timberwolves.

Our View:Shaq seemed refreshed after a night off on Thursday and has now scored 20+ in three of his last four games. He also has recorded 10+ rebounds over that span.
January 15, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal will not play on Thursday as the Suns take on the Nuggets, according to the Arizona Republic. Robin Lopez will start in his place in the nationally televised game. O'Neal will return to the starting lineup on Friday against Al Jefferson and the Timberwolves.

Our View:Shaq is not hurt he's just 36 years old and 350 pounds. Phoenix is wise not to play him on back-to-back nights, but it's hard to justify why they chose to play him against the Timberwolves rather than the Nuggets. The mile-high city may have something to do with it.
January 13, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal had a big night Tuesday with 26 points and 10 rebounds with three blocks in the win over Atlanta.

Our View:The Diesel has three straight double doubles and if not for falling one rebound short on Jan. 2, that streak would be at seven.
January 10, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal led the Suns to a 128-100 win over the Mavericks on Friday. He finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks. He was 7-of-7 from the free throw line.

Our View:Shaq was returning from back spasms but it appears he is completely healthy which is a great sign for his owners.
January 9, 2009
After missing Wednesday night's game due to back spasms, Shaquille O'Neal is expected to play on Friday against the Mavericks, according to the NBA.com.

Our View:The back spasms were a scare for Shaq owners, and it's possible that they become the nagging injury that many thought was inevitable. Shaq is shooting a respectable (for him) 60.4 percent.
January 9, 2009
Shaquille O'Neal is questionable for tonight's home game against Dallas due to back spasms, according to the Sports Network.

Our View:He missed Wednesday's game with the ailment, and looks to be an unstable fantasy option if cleared to play tonight.
January 7, 2009
Yahoo! reports that Shaquille O'Neal missed Wednesday's game against the Pacers due to a back injury. "He can’t move around,” coach Terry Porter said.

Our View:O'Neal has been having a nice season, but most people were probably well aware that an injury was always around the corner. There's no word yet how severe the injury is, but for a man as big as Shaq, a back injury could be devastating.
