Newsbreakers
November 19, 2009
Courtney Lee will return to the Nets lineup on "Saturday or shortly thereafter," according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View:The word came straight from the mouth of GM Rod Thorn. With Devin Harris also set to return to the lineup this weekend, the Nets should not remain winless for too much longer.
November 13, 2009
Courtney Lee will be out both Friday and Saturday as he continues to battle a groin injury, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:Lee was thought but to be almost back, but mildly aggravated the injury on Thursday. The next possible day he could return is next Tuesday against the Pacers.
November 12, 2009
According to the Newark Star-Ledger, after missing Wednesday's contest Courtney Lee (groin) is questionable for Friday's game against the Magic.

Our View:Lee has begun doing some side-to-side cutting drills, but still isn't quite 100 percent. He apparently wants to continue to test the injury and if he feels even the slightest pain in his groin, he'll rule himself out for Friday's game. At this point it doesn't sound good.
November 10, 2009
Courtney Lee will almost certainly be out Wednesday as he deals with a groin injury, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View:With Devin Harris also still out, this would leave the Nets very thin in the back-court against the 76ers. Lee is day-to-day.
November 7, 2009
Courtney Lee could miss a few games as he battles a groin injury, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.

Our View:Lee is averaging 11.8 points per game through six games for his new team this season. He is a very fringe fantasy option.
October 28, 2009
Courtney Lee had a quiet Nets debut on Wednesday night, scoring just five points in a 95-93 loss to Minnesota.

Our View:Lee may be hard pressed to match his 8.4 points per game in Orlando from a season ago in a crowded New Jersey back-court.
October 21, 2009
Courtney Lee chipped in 19 points on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough as the Nets remained winless in the preseason after their 96-92 loss to the Knicks. Lee had three rebounds, two steals, and an assist in the game as well.

Our View:Lee is fighting for a starting spot, and he looked good in the lineup tonight. Chris Douglas-Roberts started at the three in this game while Lee was at the two, and he should remain in that spot as long as he stays healthy.
October 11, 2009
Courtney Lee returned from various foot injuries to play in his first preseason game with the Nets on Sunday. He played 29 minutes off of the bench and finished with 11 points, three assists, two steals, and two rebounds.

Our View:Chris Douglas-Roberts has played excellent since the start of training camp and Lee's injuries have allowed CDR to pass him in the race to be the starting shooting guard. Still, as long as Lee remains healthy, there's still a good chance he could take over that role by opening night.
October 10, 2009
Courtney Lee returned to practice for the Nets on Saturday, according to the New York Daily News. Lee had been dealing with a sore foot and ankle.

Our View:Unfortunately for the Nets, on the day Lee returned they were without their other guard, Devin Harris. Lee looks healthy and ready to go, bu he needs to steer clear of the injury bug for the rest of the preseason.
October 6, 2009
Courtney Lee twisted his right ankle during Tuesday's practice, according to NetsDaily.com.

Our View:Lee's X-ray came back negative, and he will be re-evaluated on Wednesday. He was just returning from a sore left foot.
October 2, 2009
Courtney Lee will sit out Sunday's preseason opener while nursing an inflamed tendon in his left foot, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:Lee's MRI did not show a more serious injury, but the Nets should remain cautious with the promising young shooting guard.
June 25, 2009
ESPN reports that the New Jersey Nets have traded Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson to the Orlando Magic for Rafer Alston, Tony Battie and Courtney Lee.

Our View:Lee had an impressive rookie season as injuries forced him into the starting lineup mid-season. He then went on to keep the job and made 41 starts in all. He shot over 40 percent from three-point range as a rookie and played strong defense. He should start again next season for the Nets.
June 9, 2009
Guard Courtney Lee told the Orlando Sentinel that he has been "beating myself up" over his missed shot at the end of regulation in game two of the NBA Finals.

Our View:Despite his missed shot, a very difficult shot, Lee has been huge for the Magic in the playoffs. The rookie guard has provided many clutch threes and energetic minutes off the bench. He could be worth a flier in later rounds next year.
May 19, 2009
Courtney Lee will start Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cavs over J.J. Redick, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View:Coach Stan Van Gundy is going with Lee as he feels he matches up better against shooting guard Delonte West, and offers more defensively than Redick.
May 12, 2009
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Courtney Lee will continue to come off the bench for the Magic. J.J. Redick will continue to start a shooting guard for the time being.

Our View:There has been much speculation that Lee would regain his starting spot, but coach Van Gundy has opted to stick with Redick and bring Lee off the bench to match up with Celtics' guard Eddie House.
May 10, 2009
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy hasn't decided if he will start Courtney Lee or J.J. Redick in Game 4 on Sunday. Lee returned to action in Game 3 after missing some time due to an elbow in the face.

Our View:Lee was very good before he got hurt, but Redick has also played well in this postseason. Both players will see plenty of time on the floor, but only one can start. We will see who gets the nod from coach.
May 8, 2009
Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy has confirmed that guard Courtney Lee will return to action on Friday night for game 3 against the Celtics. Lee will not start, ESPN.com reports.

Our View:We don't know how much Lee will play, but the Magic will just be happy to have the rookie back in the mix. Lee was averaging 15.8 points in the Round 1 series before taking a Dwight Howard elbow to the face. Let's hope the facemask won't hurt his shooting touch.
May 7, 2009
The Orlando Sentinel reports that Courtney Lee returned to the Magic after sustaining a fractured sinus in Game 5 of the first round. He was wearing a protective mask while working out, shooting, and running. He will be a game-time decision for Game 3.

Our View:It's unlikely that Lee suits up tonight, although the team could certainly use him as they are without Rafer Alston. Mickael Pietrus and J.J. Redick have filled in excellently in his place.
May 6, 2009
Courtney Lee is considering dressing for tonight's Game 2 at Boston, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View:It was previously believed that he will miss the game while recovering from surgery to repair a fractured sinus cavity. He would have to wear a protective mask, and his minutes would likely be limited if given the green light to play.
May 5, 2009
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Courtney Lee traveled with the team, but will not play in Game Two. He is, however, expected to participate in the team's shootaround on Wednesday.

Our View:There's a chance Lee could play in Game Three on Friday and would replace J.J. Redick in the lineup.
May 4, 2009
Courtney Lee is going to miss tonight's Game 1 at Boston while recovering from surgery to repair a fractured left sinus cavity, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Coach Stan Van Gundy does not expect Lee to return to the court soon, and J.J. Redick will make another start in his absence.
May 2, 2009
Guard Courtney Lee has been medically cleared to play, but he sat out practice on Saturday and will probably miss at least the first two games of a Round 2 series, the Orlando Sentinel reports. He had surgery on Thursday to repair fractures in the nasal cavities on the left side of his face.

Our View:It's easy to understand why the Magic will take it slow with Lee. They will play the winner of the Celtics-Bulls series, and either way, the Magic will face a tired opponent. Lee will need to grow accustomed to wearing a protective mask.
May 1, 2009
Courtney Lee underwent successful surgery on his fractured left sinus cavity, according to ESPN.

Our View:It remains uncertain if Lee will be able to return to the court for the second-round of the playoffs. He will likely miss at least the first few games. The starting shooting guard averaged 12.6 points per game in Round 1 against the Sixers.
April 30, 2009
Updating a previous report, ESPN is reporting that Courtney Lee may miss the remainder of the playoffs after undergoing surgery to repaired his fractured sinus cavity.

Our View:Lee is a critical element to the Magic's perimeter defense and also a good open shot maker. He will be replaced by Mickael Pietrus who tends to be very good or very bad. With a good Pietrus in the lineup for Game 6, the Magic still have a shot, even without Dwight Howard.
April 30, 2009
Courtney Lee will undergo surgery on his fractured sinus cavity today, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View:Lee will need at least one week of recovery time, meaning he will miss the remainder of the opening-round playoff series against the Sixers. Orlando currently leads the series 3-2.
April 29, 2009
Guard Courtney Lee will miss Game 6 of the playoff series against the 76ers due to a fractured sinus, the AP confirms. He suffered the injury on Tuesday night when teammate Dwight Howard accidentally elbowed him. The Magic are not sure when Lee will be able to return.

Our View:Mickael Pietrus and J.J. Redick will need to step up with Lee out. The Magic better hope this rookie heals quickly. They can get by the 76ers without Lee, but they will need him in the long run.
April 29, 2009
Courtney Lee underwent a CT scan at a local hospital on Tuesday night. He was accidentally elbowed in the head by teammate Dwight Howard during Game 5 against the 76ers. "He said he was OK," Howard tells the Orlando Sentinel. "He said he was feeling a lot better." Lee's status for Game 6 is not known.

Our View:The Magic may be able to get by the 76ers without Lee, but they will need the rookie if they plan to advance in the playoffs. The initial reports sound positive about his recovery.
April 28, 2009
According to the Associated Press, Courtney Lee left in the first quarter of Tuesday's game against the Sixers after being elbowed in the head by teammate Dwight Howard.

Our View:He is questionable to return to the game, which could be a big blow to the Magic if he doesn't. Lee has scored 63 total points, including 24 in a Game Two win, in his four playoff games this season.
April 22, 2009
Rookie Courtney Lee led the Magic with 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting and Orlando defeated Philadelphia 96-87 on Wednesday. He also had three rebounds and three steals in the game.

Our View:Lee didn't get a look in the Rookie of the Year voting that was released earlier today, but he deserved some more recognition. He has started most of the season for the team with the fourth best record in the league and his defense and outside shooting has been a critical element to the Magic's success.
March 23, 2009
Courtney Lee got the start Monday night and scored 22 points on 6-of-8 shooting in Orlando's 106-102 victory over the Knicks.

Our View:The rookie from Western Kentucky easily exceeded his average of 24.2 minutes per game this season. Head coach Stan Van Gundy played Lee for 37 minutes, while usual starter Anthony Johnson saw the floor for only 18 minutes. With tonight's performance, you may want to keep an eye out as to how much Lee continues to play, as he will prove to be a valuable commodity if given enough time to prove himself on a consistent basis.
February 4, 2009
Courtney Lee was back in a reserve role as the Magic demolished the Clippers 125-96 on Wednesday, and he looked very comfortable. Lee hit 9-of-10 shots and finished with 21 points, four assists, three rebounds, and a steal. The rookie was a perfect 3-for-3 from long-distance.

Our View:Lee played 10 more minutes than starter Mickael Pietrus in the game. He is currently considered the Magic's second point guard behind veteran Anthony Johnson, so his minutes will continue to reflect those of a starter, despite playing a sixth-man role. Lee is getting more comfortable in the league, and if he is on your waiver wire, he deserves your consideration.
January 12, 2009
Coach Steve Van Gundy said that Courtney Lee will be Orlando's starting shooting guard until further notice, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View:Mickael Pietrus was projected to be the starter, but is on the shelf while recovering from a fractured wrist. Pietrus hopes to return by the end of January, but may have to compete with Lee if the rookie fares well as a starter. Lee is worth adding as a flier in deeper leagues.
January 7, 2009
Rookie Courtney Lee drew the start at shooting guard as the Magic squared off with the Hawks on Sunday.

Our View:This is his second start in as many games. Mickael Pietrus has a broken wrist and Keith Bogans is out with a foot injury. He should only be added in deep leagues.
